Baby Seewald #2 to Arrive Soon

Jessa and Ben Seewald are eagerly awaiting the arrival of their second child, due February 2nd. The photo on the left shows Jessa in October 2015 when she was 36 weeks pregnant with Spurgeon Seewald, and the picture on the right is how she looks now.

Spurgeon will be 15 months old when the new baby arrives. Jessa and Ben are keeping the gender of their unborn child a secret, like they did with their first pregnancy. Do you think they are expecting a boy or a girl? Do you have any name suggestions?

  3. Spurgeon was named after Charles Spurgeon Elliot or something like that, and when he died his wife stayed on the mission field they have told us. I dont remember her name, but maybe after her.

    1. Charles Spurgeon and Jim Elliott. Jim Elliot died on the mission field. His wife's name is Elizabeth. Both men are incredible examples of godliness. A great legacy to live up to.

    2. Actually, it's Elisabeth Elliott. It's spelled with a s instead of a z.

  4. Girl. Otherwise, I doubt she'd do all the belly comparison selfies.

    2. I hope she is not that pridefull :'(, children are a blessing when they are enjoyed for just them. I really dislike it when it is just about the gender.

  5. I think baby is another boy! 😊

  6. Oh honey, your back... Don't thrust your baby bump out like that. Posture!

She looks smaller this time. Good, because the last delivery was way too tough for her to attempt at home. Hope she goes to a hospital this time, so they don't end up calling 911 again.

    1. It looks like the angle to me not her posture. I imagine she will give birth however she feels comfortable

    3. The what her back curves it looks as if she's trying to protrude out more. I'd say posture too

    1. Oh, I like that idea. I think that they said that they were not going to stick with the same letter for all of their children, so maybe turn it around and make a girl's name be Elisabeth Susannah.

  26. By the looks of how she's carrying differently I'd guess girl and I think it be cute to combind the couples names like Jenna and I believe little Jennifer would be a proud aunt to neice with a name close to hers.

  27. That comparison picture thing will not work after number 3 let alone number 19, you would not see a thing! LOL

  28. Girl. Love the shows. been watching along time.(15 or 16 & counting)

    ReplyDelete
  29. I wonder if they'll stick to a letter, like Jessa's parents or Anna and her kids. They could also stick to a theme of famous preachers, to go along with Spurgeon Elliot.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I don't want to be mean, definitely not to a mother to be but your risk of serious problems gets a lot bigger every time you get pregnant 3 months after giving birth to the last. At a certain point you are just risking your own life and the life of your unborn baby. Besides that you risk leaving your born children with a single parent.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Spurgeon will be 15 months, that means it was 6months later as opposed to 3. Millions have complications regardless I would imagine it's not something they haven't considered

  31. Gideon, Uriel, Reuben or Abigail, Mercy, or Harmony
God bless you as you wait, and may your delivery be smooth, easy and short.

    ReplyDelete
  32. i think that they should keep with the s names like her mom kept with the j names in the Duggar family names. If its a girl then maybe Sabrina and if its a boy maybe Sabation

  33. Looks like a girl to me, carrying this one lower

    ReplyDelete
  34. I can't wait to hear about the birth of their second baby! I am guessing that it will be a boy. I also have some name suggestions (as a joke): Abraham or Bartholemew! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  35. I believe their next boy is going to be a boy and I think he will weigh 9 lbs 4 oz. I think a good name for him would be Gideon, which means Great Warrior.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I think another boy! But whatever gender, I pray their baby is healthy! God Bless your family!

    ReplyDelete
  37. She is carrying higher than the first time. I say it's a girl.

    1. Was wondering the exact same thing anon 5:54...I won't mention why because I don't want to draw anyone's eyes to it. But I certainly wouldn't wear it...

      Delete
    2. I don't think that as a pregnant woman your modesty is priority. I would think that comfort and practicality take precedence. I think that whatever god Jessa believes in will allow a pregnant lady a little leeway

      Delete
    3. What they wear when pregnant does show a different modesty standard.

  45. Where is her wedding ring? I never took mine off during pregnancies and my fingers just kind of puffed up on either side of my ring haha! Actually, if I take my ring off now, my finger is indented. Never bothered me but I guess it may bother some. Huh.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It is not like the vows are the ring, I can understand not wanting to shut of your circulation just for the sake of wearing a ring....

      Delete
    2. I took my rings off toward the end of both of my pregnancies because they were getting tight and I didn't want to risk having to get them cut off as another commenter mentioned. I wore them on a chain around my neck until my fingers got back to normal size.

      Delete
  46. Arching your back isn't going to make you look bigger Jessa. Hopefully she is just doing that for the picture because if that's her usual posture she is in for some major pain as she gets older.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Every body is different, you can never ever compare ones situation with another by the way.My hands swelled up so bad that they had to cut my ring off, so really, are we looking for a nit pick that bad?

      Delete
    2. No, it is not nit picking. She arched here back 15 months ago while pregnant and she is arching her back now while pregnant, that seems like a pattern to me and not a knit. Blessings

  48. So happy for Jessa and Ben. I have no idea what the gender will be, but can't wait to to hear the baby's name. My suggestion is Claudia for a girl and Russell for a boy. Praying that it's a easy delivery.

  49. My youngest daughter is named after Moses sister. Miriam, if it is a girl, maybe you could consider it

  50. I am guessing they will have another boy. Whatever the gender, I hope she has a easier delivery than with little Surgeon, and that she chooses to have a hospital birth this time.

  51. My youngest daughter is named after Moses sister, Miriam. If it is a girl you could consider it. My little Miriam is a wonderful follower of God, even before birth, she was most active when I was at church! Always dancing to the Lord's word.

  55. Her pregnancy selfies in skin tight tops really disappoint me.

  56. Just observing the difference in the way she's carrying this time around, I'm going to say it's a girl. :) If they are sticking with the heroes of faith theme then maybe Esther or Ruth... or maybe they'll name her after Elisabeth Elliot or Amy Carmichael. :)

  57. ShE pg with twin girls

  58. I think Jessa should have the baby on Feb 3 because that was her grandpa Duggars birthday. That would be really special for her father.

    1. No, they went with Charles Spurgeon's last name for Spurgeon, so the name should be Ten Boom for Corrie Ten Boom.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I think it is a girl... For a girl i'd name it Dakota meaning friend. And if it is a boy i'd name it Christopher meaning Christ follower.

    ReplyDelete

  78. If it is a boy call it Timothy Michael and if it is a girl call it Lucy Jane

    ReplyDelete
  79. Why do these girls' tops get tighter when pregnant and loose when not? It should be the other way around. I would like them to address this choice and tell me why tight tops during pregnancy is modest.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yes, it does seem hypocritical. I don't care what people choose to wear. However, when someone makes a big deal about dressing "modestly", they open themselves up to criticism when they appear to do otherwise. The Duggars wear skirts to cover the knees and go to great lengths to hide any sign of cleavage or upper arm. Their skin-tight maternity tops that leave little to the imagination are rather puzzling.

      Delete
    2. I am wondering the same thing. These tight shirts that show every bump and curve are far from modest! I wonder what Michelle and Jim Bob think about the way their pregnant daughters dress. Definitely not following what they preached about on their shows. I would like to hear them explain the styles they choose to wear too.

      Delete
    3. Wow. why does it matter to you?? It's their business.

      Delete
    4. I would be interested in this, as well.

      Delete
    5. It's not modest. It's pride. They associate pregnancy with being "blessed". The more children the more blessed. So...that's the time in their lives they feel the freedom to show off their bodies.

      Delete
    6. I think they go for super tight when pregnant because they really want to show off how big they are. Seems like they shouldn't be so needy for that kind of attention.

      Delete
    7. I agree, I also wonder about the skin tight shirts! I also wonder about the attitude of a lot of commenters on this blog. Why the just ignore it attitude? Why can't someone respectfully question behavior? That is not judgmental. It is just asking a question, why do you do this or that please explain cause I would like to understand. In my opinion it prevents judgements. Knowledge is power.

  92. I personally think that pregnant bellies are beautiful and adorable. I don't mind the tighter shirts that show the bump. If you loo up the definition of modesty, you will not see specific restrictions on dress code. Modesty is different in every culture and even in different generations of the same culture. I think Jessa looks beautiful. God sees her heart. And he also sees the hearts of all of us whom at some point have judged others for whatever reason. Mercy triumphs over judgement. James 2:13

    1. Casey, the Duggars have talked at length and over many years about clothing that draws attention to the body, specifically the female body. They started this conversation. The rest of us are questioning the change in standards. Is that judging or sincerely asking a question?

      Delete
    2. It's a sincere question. They have preached about not drawing attention to parts of the body. When pregnant, that's all they do is draw attention.

Good day in February if I do say so myself. God bless you guys.

  95. My first two are 14 months apart, and they are very close. I'm pregnant with the fifth and all of them are under two years apart. I think it's nice having all of them close in age. It is hard at times, but it's all worth it.
And I don't really think you can tell what you are having by how you are carrying the baby. But it's fun to try and guess.

I am sure that they think the "tent" shaped maternity shirts that we used to wear are hideous. Everyone is allowed to have their own opinion. Just because it doesn't agree with ours doesn't make it wrong. How is it immodest to show that you have a child in your stomach?
