    1. What? I must have missed this post on this blog about Joseph and a female friend?

  2. Jana is so beautiful!

  3. I know at least one, but their my be another one, so my guess will be at least 2

  4. Hmm... I'll say two courtships and one engagement. And two pregnancies.

  5. How about instead of this crazy courtship/engagement/marriage/pregnancy tired pattern; let's celebrate: new full time jobs, brick and mortar college acceptance, moved into my own apartment announcements!!!!!!!

    1. I like that idea.

    2. I would pay money to hear those types of announcements.

    3. You should probably just accept that that is not how they do things. Not your family, not your place to judge.

      Delete
    4. Not our place to judge? These kids are supposed to be contributing members of society someday, which is everyone's business. If all families did things the way the Duggars do, we'd be a country of thrift store shoppers and backhoe operators. With a zillion kids to support.

      Delete
    5. What would be wrong with a country of thrift store shoppers and back hoe operators? They should have as many kids as they want as long as they support them. The problem is when people have a lot of children but don't take care of them. The Duggers never relied on government support or had their children running around looking homeless. Every family is not the same which is a good thing. We don't have to criticize everyone who is different from us.

    6. Anon@9:28 A stable society relies on a diverse representation of trades/professions, such as doctors, lawyers, accountants, nurses, teachers, business owners, architects, engineers, etc.
The Duggars seem to have an aversion to secular brick-and-mortar schools of learning. Those are the places where many professions receive their education and training.

    7. What is wrong with a country of thrift store shoppers and back hoe operators???? Everything! Our country needs problem solvers, sharp thinkers, competence, educated leaders, competitive spirits, strong negotiators, aggressive protectors, compassionate beings and parents giving by their children solid independence.

    8. 9:28, you say the Duggars are supporting their children. I don't see it that way. I see them taking a lot from society to keep that large family going, but giving back little by comparison. The kids have all had oral surgery or braces applied by dental professionals. They use hospitals and doctors for delivery and healthcare. They consume an amazing amount of food and restaurant food. They rely heavily on technology and electronic devices. Their energy consumption for that house must be enormous. That energy has to be generated by professionals. Plus they want to be filmed and on TV with their own shows. I could go on, but I hope you get the picture. So far, we have Duggar girls who know how to shop and decorate and drink coffee and have children. We have Duggar boys who fly their own planes (engineered by who?) for their own family, sell cars (engineered by who?), and move dirt. I don't see how that is even trying to contribute anything near what they demand society provides for them.

    9. I agree with anonymous 5:50 pm.

  6. I'd love to see someone start college, or a business, or go on some sort of adventure!!!! I'd like to see other aspects of their lives beyond just courtship and marriage

  7. It would warm my heart to see Jana enter into a courtship. She is such a beautiful, God fearing young woman and I know she would make a loving wife and mother to a suitable match.

    1. I agree with you for sure! Yet I know other visitors to this blog think she should move out and start her own business on her own. But I personally agree with you. Jana would make a wonderful wife and surely she would enjoy a loving caring husband by her side helping her with her future interior design business!

  8. Possibly Josiah and John-David and or Joseph. Looking forward to the new season

    1 courtship (Joe or John)

    1. I hope Joy doesn't get engaged this year: she's so young and has her whole life in front of her, what's wrong with taking it slow?

      Delete
    2. Joy is not that young. My mom and two of my sisters got married when they were 19. Joy seems mature for her age. I hope that she does get engaged and married this year.

  10. I hope that at least one of the following announces a courtship:Jana,John-David or Joseph.

  11. Counting down the days of your wonderful show Counting On. Jana looks like she might have some news to tell us. But than Jana is always smiling, she never looks unhappy to me. I believe Jana is a caring person and living her life the way she sees fit right now and that makes her very happy. Have a Happy and Healthy New Year.

  12. However many are needed to keep the show going and fans interested. I think we would enjoy seeing the kids make their own life. Like the Bates - whose girls (and guys) aspire to college and other interests ALONG with dating and relationships. I have nothing against a wife and mother, but you never know what life will throw at you - and I think women should be self-sufficient too. Just in case. But just my opinion.

    1. i totally agree. My grown up daughters have jobs and can provide themselves. And they are not less good women as the Duggar girls are.

      Delete
    2. Completely agree on all counts. Education is important to the Bates family and nurtured. It makes such a well rounded individual and provides the environment to find a mutually goal set mate.

      Delete
    3. I agree, all the bates married women all had jobs and or college before marriage. You don't have yo stay home and wait for future partner lol. Erin done college degree and done music teaching, Alyssa worked in a flower shop and Michael was a full-time nanny. Jimbob and Michele need to let their adult kids spread their wings.

    4. If something happened to their husband's and these girls didn't have family, they would have no way to support their kids and themselves. Women should have the ability to provide for their own families without a men in their life. It doesn't make you any less godly.

      Delete
    5. Totally agree; but, also remember, both Bates parents ARE college grads!!! Neither Duggar parent even attended any type of college!!!

  13. Very Happy New Year! I can't wait to see what you will be sharing in 2017. I love following your family. I love the new Duggar shows. But..I still miss the 19 Kids and Counting. I wish that show would also be back on again. People make mistakes in life that God forgives. I don't understand why it is so hard for people to forgive. After all we are not put on this earth to judge others. God Bless the Duggars!

  14. Happy New Year everyone!
I am an avid blog reader from Greece! I love the Duggar Family blog and Ellie, I also read Nashville wife. I hope this is Jana's year. Maybe she'll meet someone and start courting, but no rush to get engaged. And for you Ellie, I hope the New Year brings you a baby!!!
    Love, Athina!

  16. Four courtships and two weddings😉Hope so...how thrilling that would be😆

    ReplyDelete
  17. I predict 1 engagement 3 or 4 male Duggar courtships.Engagement would be Austin and Joy-Anna.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I really hope Joy-Anna takes her time and has a long courtship: she's so young!
Being of age isn't enough to get married, in my opinion: it's important to really be a mature adult with some life experience. At least 21...

      Delete
    2. There are some people who are totally ready for marriage when they are 19. Joy Anna seems like one of those people to me. If she has found the man she is going to marry, then there is no reason that she should wait.

      Delete
    3. Yeah, there is plenty of reasons: besides becoming able to support themselves individually, it's a good thing to explore the world on your own before you start a family. I don't mean randomly traveling around, but at least have something hat is yours as a young adult, an experience that may be for example college, or a job, or whatever you may want to do, as long as long as it stems from your personal interests.
Going from being someone's child to being someone's wife is not healthy, in my opinion.

  18. I think that Joy Anna and Austin will get engaged and get married. I hope that Jana, John-David, Joseph, and Josiah all also enter courtships and get engaged, and get married. I'm excited that Jessa and Jill with have their second babies. I hope that Anna has another baby also. And I hope in 2018 there are babies for some of the others that I hope get married this year!

    1. I just hope people are happy. How they accomplish that is up to the individual. Not everyone will find happiness by getting married and having children.

      Delete
    2. Think about that; would you really want Anna and Josh to have another child????

  19. Engagements: 0
    Courtships: John David, Josiah,Joy-Anna
    Pregnancies: Jinger, maybe Anna

  20. I think 2 will get engaged and 4 will start a courtship.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I would say 2. Looking forward to seeing the Duggars on Counting On. Wishing Jessa a smooth delivery and a healthy baby.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I would like for them to show things as they happen. When Jessa has her baby, everyone will know about it and what it is before they show it. They drag things out for so long, that's the thing I don't like

    1. I don't like it either, but it would have to be a live stream for that to work, a lot of editing and work goes in during and after filming and they need to space announcements to keep interest. At least it's a more in depth look at what is going on :)

  23. Lots of wonderfull blessings to all of you,Your Mom and Dad need to be saying 15 kids and counting

    ReplyDelete
  24. I would like to see Jana moved on with her life, if she wants to go to college she deserves to try. Miss the show.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I believe Joy was engaged over Christmas. Why keep it a secret? Those who want to watch the show will watch either way..those who don't watch won't watch regardless.

  26. Maybe someone goes to Harvard. That would be a progress. Jim-Bob Duggar could easily afford it. And life is not all courtship, wedding and pregnacy.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. To the Duggars, it is all about courtship, wedding and pregnancy.

      Delete
    2. Hopefully, the older boys will step up in this area.

      Delete
    3. To 4:15 pm - Harvard would be an aspiration for any scholar, however, unfortunately the homeschooling curriculum the Duggars use would never prepare any of the kidults to attend any colleges let alone Harvard! Before anyone gets all upset, let me say that not all homeschooling that way! I've seen excellent homeschooling programs that prepare kids for any college they chose to attend! Also, any student can do remedial classes to further their education. Not being critical of the Duggars choices, just keeping it real while being honest!!

  27. Does anyone else think it's odd that no Duggar boy has entered a courtship since Josh?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. What about that failed one with the one J boy and Marjorie? We can't really count that one, though, because it was over in a blink.

      Delete
    2. Yes..not sure if the word is odd but I do find it interesting anyway.

      Delete
    3. Yes, very. John David seems quite shy though.

      Delete
    4. Not really. John David is the only one that could have without falling on someone else's financial support. The age span is also young and men should be able to provide even if the spouse isn't a home maker.
No one seems to be completing a formal education to support a mate....

      Delete
    5. Has anyone thought that maybe Jana doesn't want to get married and have babies right away like her sisters. Maybe she wants to live her life, but its hard to in a family with their beliefs (no children go to college or tbink about moving out or having outside hobbies that doesn't involve at least one other family member).

      Delete
    6. They have seen all that it entails and have decided to proceed with caution. Look at Lawson Bates and the Bates kids. The girls in these families are groomed to believe that life "doesn't officially start or count" until you've landed a husband. The boys are encouraged to establish a "career" or some way to provide for a future wife and family. So big difference. Just what I have observed.

      Delete
  28. I don't think the Duggar boys could afford to get married unless their wife had a career and made some serious money. It wouldn't be the first time in history that the wife was the breadwinner of the family. Like they say if it works don't fix it.

  29. I can look at the line-up of shows 2 wks in advance, and Counting On is not yet showing up for Mon 1-16.

  30. I love the duggars, but it seems getting married and having babies is the only thing they disire or want in life. What other studies, career or outside family activies or hobby's? Every season is courtship, engagement, marriage and someone pregnant. Nothing else.

    ReplyDelete

    1. They've been hinting that Jana is going to start a business. They bought that old tattoo parlor and are supposed to be fixing it up, but there's no telling what will come of it. One thing is sure, though - Jim Bob will have control, even if Jana is working there. He will not let his children work for someone else. Really makes you wonder, since they were supposedly raised right. They should now be able to make their own way in the world without stumbling morally. Especially after they saw what their brother did wrong!

      Delete
  31. I think it's odd as well. It's the same with the Bates. It's like the girls work hard helping the families and then they have to carry the shows with their courtships, engagements, marriages and pregnancies. While all the boys are sitting back, not really making any moves.

    ReplyDelete
  32. 1 engagement-Joy-Anna
    1 courtship- Anybody's guess
4 new babies-(Jessa, Anna, Jill and Jinger for a total of 10 grandkids by the end of 2017)
