Duggar Christmas 2016 Snapshots

To all who celebrate Christmas, we hope you had a wonderful holiday. As you may have guessed, the Duggars love Christmas because it is the celebration of the day Jesus Christ was born on Earth to save humankind from their sins. Here are a few snapshots from the weekend:

  1. So....women in the kitchen where they belong and men relax in conversation. Looks like Christmas 1916, not 2016.

    1. If I'm not mistaken, those two pictures were taken at different places.

    2. Depends on who's the cook in the family.... no one is cookie cutter. In previous episodes it shows Ben bbqing and the boys helping in the kitchen. If it were Thanksgiving no one would think twice about that because of football. Just let it be

    3. Do these husbands help their wives around the house? It's not as if they had exhausting jobs!!!!

      Delete
    4. I think it's wonderful and how they choose to celebrate is their business

    5. What's so wrong with traditional roles?

      Delete
    6. It looks like a normal Christmas in 99.99% of the homes in America. Stop being such a grump

      Delete
    7. I believe they do not.

    8. I would love to know how many kitchens have the women in conversation and the men in the kitchen ... just saying. If we are realistic --- that's the way almost every ones dinners look. Lol

    9. wow so negative!!! why come here??!!! i am sure this is not every picture but there is NOTHING wrong with these pixs. so what if the women are in the kitchen and men are in living room - so WHAT?!

      Delete
    10. Oh brother, don't you realize that some of us women enjoy having different gender rolls? I doubt anyone is forcing Jana to bake cookies. 'Women's lib but not the freedom to choose to bake if you want to.'

      Delete
    11. Maybe the women enjoy being in the kitchen....and most women want the guys out of the way when they are cooking. What's wrong with that?

      Delete
    12. Anonymous 1:08 - Seriously a ridiculous comment. I'm lost for words.

    13. Gif such ridiculous comment.

    14. I like traditional gender roles!

    15. Apparently you turn a blind eye to all the blogs that show the boys sharing what they like to cook or bake. And girls and women aren't barred from baking, if they wish to, just because some silly people call it names.

    16. My time spent in the kitchen as a young girl and growing with my extended family of all women in the kitchen....formed me into a caring independent woman, wife, mother I am today. I treasure what I received from all those women, life lessons.

  2. I see the Santa apron on Grandma Dillard. Have the Duggars ever discussed if they believe in Santa Claus?

    1. Yes, and Santa isn't a belief but I saw photos from Jessa they do have a full floor tree decorated and share presents.

      Delete
    2. Hmm...the consensus among most adults is no...but you never really know I guess...

      Delete
    3. Tell me what sort adult would believe in santa lol?! Of course they don't believe in santa!

      Delete
    4. @2:10 AM -- what a nasty comment! I think you know what I meant -- do they promote Santa Claus for their children.

      Delete
    5. She or he meant, do the Duggar's celebrate the concept of Santa with their kids and grandkids. I hope they do because there is nothing wrong with the magic of Santa. You can place the emphasis on the birth of Jesus and still have fun with the joy of santa.

      Delete
    6. 2:10, Are you asking what sort of adult would believe in goodness and love and giving and making wishes come true? All embodied in one handy, easily recognized symbol? I would hope the answer to that would be EVERY adult.

  4. There's Jana toiling in the kitchen again. Does Michelle ever cook or is Jana in charge of the kitchen?

    ReplyDelete

    1. Mayes she enjoys cooking and doesn't consider it "toiling"

      Delete
    2. I don't think she is in the middle of it much anymore.
The kitchen is a chore for the older girls.
I wonder if the boys learn how to cook and bake.
It was tradition for all of us too.

      Delete
    3. I toiked most of the day in the kitchen, enjoyed every minute of it, some people truly enjoy baking. Why lash out at Michelle Duggar? Unless you have personal knowledge of this family it makes no sense to presume that Michelle is not doing her job and that Jana was forced to bake cookies. This is a reality TV family, not a documentary. It is entirely possible that Jana enjoys baking cookies,

    4. Jana enjoys baking (Bread, cookies, whatever)

    5. When I got older I did most of the cooking, baking in the kitchen! I loved it... and we didn't even have 19kids for some of you crazies to blame it on!

  5. Quincy is sure adorable. Do they still call him that?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I think his new nickname is "Spurgie" or "Spurg". If I'm not mistaken, they actually have a video on how many nicknames he has. Quincy was the nickname they used while hiding his gender.

      Delete
    2. Quincy was just a nickname for the baby while Jessa was pregnant. I don't think they ever called him anything but Spurgeon after he was born.

      Delete
    3. Nope. Not since he was born over a year ago. Time to move on.

      Delete
    4. He looks like a Quincy to me.

      Delete
    5. I still call him Quincy and I've heard Joy call him that a few times on Counting on.

    4. She does! For a minute there, not looking at the caption I thought it was Jessa. They are definitely sisters :)

    5. It looked like Jinger to me but they say it's Jana'

    6. I thought it was Jinger as well!

    9. I know I thought it was her at first too!

  7. If you read carefully it says Jana prepared those cookies while preparing for the holidays, it does not mean she did them while the others were visiting without her, and if she likes to bake, let her, some of the other girls have said it is not their thing. She is not chained to the counter being MADE to do it, she is choosing to do it !

  8. Please, Derick, get rid of that bun in the back.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. A bun is a feminine hairstyle. Very unbecoming to men.

      Delete
    2. Jesus had long hair are we really this judgmental. We should pray.

      Delete
    3. A lot of men wear long hair and a lot of women wear them short. Do you criticize Derick's mum for having short hair?

      Delete
    4. When religion becomes about how long our hair or our skirts are, it really means we have lost our ways. I'm very sad.
Being a Christian is about how we treat others and inhabit this world, it isn't about not showing our knees or having a certain hairstyle...

      Delete
    5. If these people follow the Bible the way they claim to, then there are plenty of references telling men to cut their hair.

      Delete
    6. The Bible does actually address how long hair is a glory of women. I'm more bothered that it blurs gender distinction (which is the reason their girls wear skirts).

      Delete
  9. I thought I read JimBob does not believe in celebrating Christmas as most Christians do with gifts, a tree, music. Rather, he celebrates it as a Birthday for Jesus- no tree, Santa, stockings or mainstream Christmas music.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Well if you read the Bible... it talks about no lier will enter the gates of Heaven... isn't telling your children Santa comes down the chimney to bring gifts and such, a ... yes a lie! Simply telling your kids something that isn't true! Seems to me it's kind of saying don't lie, but telling one yourself...

      Delete
    2. Maybe his heart has grown two sizes that day?

      Delete
    3. If you watched the show when it was on, you would know that they had TONS of Christmas presents and a Christmas tree. They don't do santa...thank goodness!

      Delete
    4. You really mean to say that Christians who teach their kids about Santa Claus won't enter heaven? Gosh, no wonder people think we Christians are weird.

      Delete
    5. What's the difference between telling your kids there's a God and telling them there's a Santa? Aren't both a tale told for a long time, when you get down to brass tacks?

      Delete
    6. When you realize that Santa was your parents it was no lie just child fun I remember the tooth fairy and all sorts and it was just magical. It also shows belief in a child so is it really bad when us parents are Santa? Good for the Duggars to be so accepting of others Christmas traditions

      Delete
    7. Our family celebrates the birthday of Jesus. That doesn't mean you throw out the fun stuff and go around with a sad face. I am pretty sure JB doesn't put Jesus and Santa on the same level. You just don't present the two the same way and if you do, the problem is with your presentation, not the game.

  10. Wonderful time for Christmas Family together and stay safe!

    3. Why should he need a haircut?

      Delete
    4. Cutting the ends of that babies hair isn't going to make it grow in straight,,,, how ridiculous ❗️😳

      Delete
    5. He/she didn't mean the hair would grow in straight if it was cut, just that the curls would be CUT OFF. Why do people want to argue and ridicule other comments without even understanding what they mean?

    3. Anon@7:45 I sincerely hope the Duggar daughters have more on their minds than just courtship. At least Jana has bucked the trend. Now she just needs to pack her bags and find a life for herself.

    4. @3:35 PM -- obviously Jana has more on her mind than courtship but at her age, thinking about marriage is entirely normal.

  17. I think we need to be respectful in commenting on their blog. I love the Diggers... can't wait for the new season of their show.

  18. Ooh someone in that family loves white chocolate in their coffee! That's what I love in my coffee too. All I can say is yummy.😊

  19. Women cook, men relax. That's how it is at our house. I'm a woman. I don't see anything wrong with that. That's how I enjoy life! I stay at home with my kids. Hubby goes to work. Just because we do things the old fashioned way does not mean it's wrong. We're free to do whatever makes us happy and this makes me happy. Stop forcing your feminist ways onto us.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. As long as it is a choice, that's great. When it becomes an expectation by others, then there's a problem.

      Delete
    2. The "feminist" difference is that you and other women are free to be educated or to work outside the home, whether you do or not. The Duggar girls are not free. The have one ultimate role, and you're looking at it.

      Delete
    3. Jana wants her own interior design business, she has been working towards that for a while. Plus Jill wanted to be a mid wife and she did. So where exactly is this non freedom?

      Delete
  20. Do the Duggers still participate in the Christmas parade in their hometown? I remember when they used to do a nativity scene and give out cookies or some other that they had baked. does Michelle still have the younger girls bake and package up goodies to deliver to the fire department and police department? I'm curious, why the little girls weren't helping Gianna bake bread and cookies. Or if they were, why wasn't there a picture? That would have been nice to see.

  21. Wow, I wonder how the Duggars feel about Jill having a Christmas tree. And Derick's mom is wearing a Santa apron?? Wow.

    1. There is nothing wrong with Christmas trees and Santa. Cool your jets!

      Delete
    2. I quest it doesn't really matter what the Duggar family thinks about Jill's Christmas tree or Derick's Mom wearing a Santa Grandma apron, now does it.

      Delete
    3. There's nothing wrong with Christmas trees and Santa (or Saint Nicholas) for most of us. But the Duggars have spoken out against them many times. Anon 2:44 is only stating that because of the previous Duggar rules and opinions.

      Delete
    4. Research the issue. They are pagan traditions.

      Delete
    5. I never said there was anything wrong with Santa and a tree. Relax. The Duggars do NOT celebrate with these things. They have stated that many times. I am wondering how it came to be that Jill allows such things in her life now.

      Delete
    6. What difference does it make if they are pagan traditions. You can still be a Christian and have Santa Claus and put up a tree.

      Delete
    7. Anon@5:11 It depends upon whose research you want to believe. If you look back long and hard enough, you could probably trace just about any practice or tradition to a 'pagan' practice. I don't know of a single person who puts up a Christmas tree and also bows down and worships it. The origin of Santa Claus is disputed.

      Delete
    8. Actually anon 5:11 you need to do the research. Traditions such as The Christmas tree, candy cane, and Santa (originally Saint Nicholas) have VERY Christian roots.

      Delete
    9. The family had a tree just like Jill. Jessa video and said they had one for year's. Having a tree with lights isn't a sin, it's an English tradition.

  22. Those girls need to learn to cook with their long hair behind them. If it doesn't shed into the food, it could come in contact with a dangerous flame or a hot burner. They always seem to pull their hair over one shoulder for some reason, like it's the required pose. It's even interesting to see that picture on the counter, with someone in a chef hat, yet hair hanging forward. I wonder why nobody told all the girls to keep their hair back when cooking?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Good question!!

      Delete
    2. That hair is definitely long enough to touch a burner or get caught in a mixer blade.....

      Delete
    3. I noticed that when Jeremy grandmother cooked. She even grabbed her Long hair and tried to pull it back to save the meatballs. I don't get it, we always had clips and hair band's in a basket to use before washing hands to cook or bake.

  23. Jana looks comfortable in the kitchen. Most women do the cooking in most homes. Wishing all the Duggars a Blessed ,healthy and happy 2017.

    1. Anon@2:40 Most women do the cooking in most homes? I am afraid you are overgeneralizing just a tad. I hardly think you've surveyed every household on the matter. My dad did a good share of the cooking for our family and that was fifty years ago. He loved nothing better than to feed people. My husband also loves to cook and bake. He made our Christmas cookies this year!

      Delete
    2. I think that's an exaggeration. I'm a man, and I actually prefer to do the cooking at home. Both my wife and I work full time. It works for us, and I'm glad we are challenging traditional gender norms, which at times expect certain roles from women and men, which isn't always right. Have a great day!!

      Delete
    3. highly unlikely an exaggeration most men out there do enjoy cooking gives them an sense of relaxing time depening what ever real job may have outside of the home.

      Delete
    4. My husband does ALL the cooking in our home.

      Delete
    5. My husband does the cooking too. I HATE to cook. My children even make sure my treats for school parties are store bought--LOL!!

      Delete
  24. Y'all the apron says something along the lines of "who needs Santa when you have Grandma." Perfectly innocuous, but not exactly pro-Santa either lol

  25. All these judgments. Who makes Christmas? A family that's who. I just pray for one day a country could come together in peace and understanding. Not all families work the same. In a family of 19 or so all has to come together, teamwork makes the dream work . We need love not hate in our hearts. Merry Christmas all whether in the kitchen, home, or property all must come together and make it work. Some mothers/fathers/parents do all the work with no help from their children is that fair as well?
