To all who celebrate Christmas, we hope you had a wonderful holiday. As you may have guessed, the Duggars love Christmas because it is the celebration of the day Jesus Christ was born on Earth to save humankind from their sins. Here are a few snapshots from the weekend:

DeleteDepends on who's the cook in the family.... no one is cookie cutter. In previous episodes it shows Ben bbqing and the boys helping in the kitchen. If it were Thanksgiving no one would think twice about that because of football. Just let it be

DeleteMy time spent in the kitchen as a young girl and growing with my extended family of all women in the kitchen....formed me into a caring independent woman, wife, mother I am today. I treasure what I received from all those women, life lessons.

DeleteShe or he meant, do the Duggar's celebrate the concept of Santa with their kids and grandkids. I hope they do because there is nothing wrong with the magic of Santa. You can place the emphasis on the birth of Jesus and still have fun with the joy of santa.

I toiked most of the day in the kitchen, enjoyed every minute of it, some people truly enjoy baking. Why lash out at Michelle Duggar? Unless you have personal knowledge of this family it makes no sense to presume that Michelle is not doing her job and that Jana was forced to bake cookies. This is a reality TV family, not a documentary. It is entirely possible that Jana enjoys baking cookies,

ReplyDeleteI think his new nickname is "Spurgie" or "Spurg". If I'm not mistaken, they actually have a video on how many nicknames he has. Quincy was the nickname they used while hiding his gender.

DeleteIf you read carefully it says Jana prepared those cookies while preparing for the holidays, it does not mean she did them while the others were visiting without her, and if she likes to bake, let her, some of the other girls have said it is not their thing. She is not chained to the counter being MADE to do it, she is choosing to do it !

DeleteI thought I read JimBob does not believe in celebrating Christmas as most Christians do with gifts, a tree, music. Rather, he celebrates it as a Birthday for Jesus- no tree, Santa, stockings or mainstream Christmas music.

DeleteOur family celebrates the birthday of Jesus. That doesn't mean you throw out the fun stuff and go around with a sad face. I am pretty sure JB doesn't put Jesus and Santa on the same level. You just don't present the two the same way and if you do, the problem is with your presentation, not the game.

ReplyDeleteWomen cook, men relax. That's how it is at our house. I'm a woman. I don't see anything wrong with that. That's how I enjoy life! I stay at home with my kids. Hubby goes to work. Just because we do things the old fashioned way does not mean it's wrong. We're free to do whatever makes us happy and this makes me happy. Stop forcing your feminist ways onto us.

DeleteThe "feminist" difference is that you and other women are free to be educated or to work outside the home, whether you do or not. The Duggar girls are not free. The have one ultimate role, and you're looking at it.

I remember when they used to do a nativity scene and give out cookies or some other that they had baked. does Michelle still have the younger girls bake and package up goodies to deliver to the fire department and police department? I'm curious, why the little girls weren't helping Gianna bake bread and cookies. Or if they were, why wasn't there a picture? That would have been nice to see.

DeleteAnon@5:11 It depends upon whose research you want to believe. If you look back long and hard enough, you could probably trace just about any practice or tradition to a 'pagan' practice. I don't know of a single person who puts up a Christmas tree and also bows down and worships it. The origin of Santa Claus is disputed.

DeleteThose girls need to learn to cook with their long hair behind them. If it doesn't shed into the food, it could come in contact with a dangerous flame or a hot burner. They always seem to pull their hair over one shoulder for some reason, like it's the required pose. It's even interesting to see that picture on the counter, with someone in a chef hat, yet hair hanging forward. I wonder why nobody told all the girls to keep their hair back when cooking?

DeleteI noticed that when Jeremy grandmother cooked. She even grabbed her Long hair and tried to pull it back to save the meatballs. I don't get it, we always had clips and hair band's in a basket to use before washing hands to cook or bake.

Anon@2:40 Most women do the cooking in most homes? I am afraid you are overgeneralizing just a tad. I hardly think you've surveyed every household on the matter. My dad did a good share of the cooking for our family and that was fifty years ago. He loved nothing better than to feed people. My husband also loves to cook and bake. He made our Christmas cookies this year!
DeleteI think that's an exaggeration. I'm a man, and I actually prefer to do the cooking at home. Both my wife and I work full time. It works for us, and I'm glad we are challenging traditional gender norms, which at times expect certain roles from women and men, which isn't always right. Have a great day!!

ReplyDeleteAll these judgments. Who makes Christmas? A family that's who. I just pray for one day a country could come together in peace and understanding. Not all families work the same. In a family of 19 or so all has to come together, teamwork makes the dream work . We need love not hate in our hearts. Merry Christmas all whether in the kitchen, home, or property all must come together and make it work. Some mothers/fathers/parents do all the work with no help from their children is that fair as well?
