Following Jill and Derick Dillard's big announcement this morning (click here to see our post from earlier today) Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar shared a congratulations video made by Jinger and Jeremy Vuolo. Here it is:

Whyyyyyyy with the filmed and published messages? They couldn't FaceTime them directly, or call them, or send a congratulations card? What is the benefit of making this public, other than simply for publicity? It's so inauthentic.

DeleteI dont know if its inauthentic but I don't like it & find it a bit staged for us viewers. I agree its unecessary. They obviously have private conversations as there's lots we dont know & rightly so in their private life's. I certainly keep conversations like this private much of the time with my social media followers although I may comment on good news in my family & especially if a reality star holding in balance Gods word - a time to talk & a time to be quiet & dont thrown pearls in front of swine. It seems unwise to me making them unecessary targets for
Deletecriticism from media. Maybe they acted on advice given as good PR to spread Jesus? Who knows?? I guess we're all different by God's grace.
Maybe it's time for us to make peace with the fact that this is just what they like to do. The comments on these video posts are so predictable.

ReplyDeleteThey're a very cute couple but it's weird to think that Jinger got her first boyfriend and a husband all at once. There's much wisdom and self-knowledge to be gained through dating.

DeleteOh my. Does this family do nothing else all day but make videos about themselves? Birthday congrats, wedding congrats, baby congrats... Do it PRIVATELY. It would mean so much more to the people involved. And then other people wouldn't be talking about what you were doing, or wondering why you were constantly doing it.

DeleteWould you say "every firstborn" is also jealous, or might there be some who are excited to get a baby brother or sister so they can be mommy's helper with the baby?
I've not seen any jealousy by older siblings in my own group of family and friends. Parents can prepare kids for this. There's no need to assume they'll all be jealous.

ReplyDeleteIt's nice to finally see something of the newlyweds. It's a shame that we can't keep updated on their lives because they have to save Every. Single. Conversation. For TLC and the show. I wish it was like the bates. Where we can keep up with them on social media. But also enjoy the show.

ReplyDeleteJeremy seems like a wild guy trying to keep it curbed and be polite. I know, I used to be that way as a young woman. Thankfully God has guided me into a whole different person than I was and continues to work in me.
