Amy Duggar King Returning to Reality TV

This just in. Amy Duggar King, niece of Jim Bob Duggar and cousin of the 19 Duggar children, is returning to reality TV, but not in the way you may have expected.

Amy married her sweetheart, Dillon King, during a September 2015 wedding ceremony attended by the majority of the Duggar family. She has made cameo appearances on several episodes of 17 Kids and Counting, 18 Kids and Counting, and 19 Kids and Counting, as well as on the 2014 TLC specials "A Big Announcement," "A Duggar Leaves Home," and "Amy's Nashville Dreams."

Earlier this week, WE tv announced the cast for season seven of its reality show Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars, set to premiere Friday, January 6th, at 9pm ET/8pm CT.

What does this have to do with the Duggar cousin? Amy and Dillon King will be featured in the new season, alongside a cast of "troubled reality star couples" from the shows The Bachelorette, Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta, Bad Girls Club, and Mob Wives.

In its press release, the network states that when Amy and Dillon arrive on set after only seven months of marriage, "their lack of respect for each other is apparent." After being counseled by therapists Dr. Ish Major and Dr. Venus Nicolino, each of the reality TV couples will decide whether to "stay together or go their separate ways."

Disclaimer: We are not encouraging you to watch this show, as it does not represent the values of the majority of our readers, and the promo videos posted online contain quite a few obscenities. We simply wanted to make the announcement, should you hear about it from another source and wonder if it's true.

  1. This really is old news. And I wouldn't be surprised if they went on that show with trumped-up "problems," just to get on TV and be paid. There have been no serious rumblings of marriage trouble for her, and she and Dillon were having a ball together in Vegas during Jinger's wedding weekend.

  2. Wow. This is really sad... Thank you for confirming it.

  3. I can remember a time when TLC was a wonderful channel to watch. They had real educational shows like Death by Chocolate, and nice home improvement shows. TLC used to stand for The Learning Channel. Now it's more like Trashy,Leeches Channel.

I wish Counting On was on UP. I think they would get more viewers since some have stopped watching TLC because the channel has gone so far down the hill. At any rate, I'm going to be praying for Amy and her husband. A reality show isn't what this couple needs.

  4. Lily and Ellie, It's really sad to see Amy in something like this. You can easily tell she's doing it for fame and attention. Now I understand why people call her famy. If their marriage really is in trouble, to showcase that to the world on a pathetic and vulgar TV show is disgusting. It's sad to see someone who calls themselves a Christian act this way. Fame can be such a poison. I hope some of the Duggar adults (Jana) will choose to live their lives in private instead of on national TV. It's not a healthy way to live.

    1. Private? Are you joking? This family is not the least private Being a christian has nothing to do with whether or not she is on a tv show either. If she wants to be here then she will be and it is not for you to judge.

      I can't wait to watch Amy's

    3. Have the people who think the only reason they went on the show was to help their marriage actually watched the preview clip?! It was cringeworthy -- obsenities, tantrums, and more.

Marriages can be helped without airing your dirty laundry for the entire world to see. Go to a Christian marriage therapist. Go to a non-Christian therapist. There's no reason to go on a show like this except for money.

  8. Very disappointed in Amy and Dillon. They have very publicly made it known that they are Christians just because they are not exactly like their cousins. They have set an example to many other people of how a Christian couple looks. If they are having serious marital troubles, going on a reality TV show is not the way to handle it. That should be a private issue, not for public entertainment.

    1. I share those sentiments exactly. That TV show is known for having couples that are just needing a paycheck on there. They make up problems (and even relationships!) to get on the show. Get a job like everyone else!

      Delete
    2. I don't believe the show has aired yet. It probably would make sense for you to hold your judgement knowing you've not even seen the show. It's entirely possible you'd be impressed with how they handle themselves.

      Delete
    3. It's a trashy show. I doubt Amy & Dillon are going to turn it around and show the rest of the world how to handle yourselves on a reality show. They're going to do exactly what the producers want them to do, and if they don't, the producers will choppily edit it to make it something it wasn't.

      Delete
    4. I've seen past episodes of this show. They will not show them 'handling themselves well'. That's not what this show does. It will show a horrible side of them. Even when couples go into their bedrooms they keep the microphones going. The clips the producers share will be anything but dignified, unfortunately. I can't imagine this show doing any couple any good. The other couples will attack them. It is nasty.

  11. It's sad this whole family has given themselves over to the God of money and fame. Obviously Amy and her husband will do anything to be on tv. The rest of the Duggars are no different. Theyve all chosen to be in an industry that is very unGodly despite what they say. They literally seek attention...all of them. Money and fame are addictive, and they certainly have fallen into the trap.

    1. The Duggars have stayed on TV much too long. I think it has brought such devastation to their family airing all of their tragedies on the air before the whole world. I simply do not understand why they would not want privacy. So sad they've lost the simplicity they once had.

    2. SO SO SO agreeing with you, 1:13! It's obvious to us...why isn't it obvious to them?

    3. They are showing everyone what a true Christian family looks like. That they aren't perfect that they go through the same things. They show how to keep to god and pray through it all. They show how people fall away from god and are lured by the devil. I don't see you saying this about every other celebrity! Just bc they are christians suddenly they're in it for the money? And what they're not allowed to like money bc they're christians?

      Delete
    4. 8:24 above, do you seriously think that Christian families go on that type of reality show to promote God and prayer? Obviously you've never watched that show.....

    5. Anonymous December 7, 2016 at 8:24 AM- You said..."They are showing everyone what a true Christian family looks like. That they aren't perfect that they go through the same things."

"I don't see you saying this about every other celebrity! Just bc they are christians suddenly they're in it for the money? And what they're not allowed to like money bc they're christians?"

You forgot two very important thing: 1. The majority of Christian families have not had a son prey on his younger sisters and a family friend, the parent have knowledge of it and cover it up, so he won't have a record. 2. Other Christian families aren't being paid $40,000 an episode to "live their Christian walk" on TV. They're not being filmed doing nonsense things like building tree houses for the family's use, going shopping (thrift store or otherwise), going on endless vacations/family fun outings, "getting away " to resorts/big cities/fancy restaurants, etc.

  29. Our goal as Christians is not to lead perfect lives, but to strive to exude the qualities of the Spirit and not of the flesh. And if we all represent our own faith well to those around us, then we are doing our part. Encourage others to live for Christ and to be a good example to others, but don't tear people down that aren't there yet. Until just a few years ago I was like a lot of young people who claimed to be a Christian, but sadly I doubt anyone could tell a difference between my life and others around me who were not Christian. It has been laid on my heart in the last few years that I need to be living differently! Not because I'm following rules, but because of the love Christ has shown me I want to live for Him. He has given me a thirst for Him that I pray never leaves me. That's what I want people to experience! He did a work in my heart and He will work in others hearts too!

    1. I hope you don't mean that people who aren't christian can't be good people, be good to others and not succumb to bad behaviour... That people who are jewish or islamic or live by the word of the buddha aren't 'there' yet... I believe that even people who aren't in a faith can have good at the center... and I really dislike the way some people in a faith can push there ways onto others who aren't in that faith like there aren't a lot of good ways to get to a good goal. To make life even more difficult there are even bad ways to come to a good goal. In my upinion we should just uplift and not judge cause most of us mean well at the heart.

    4. Jesus was the only one who claimed to be able to save people from hell. (Buddha and Mohamed did not.) Therefore, even if you are a "good" person, if you do not believe Jesus' claim that he died and rose again to save you, you will not go to heaven. "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: " Romans 3:23,24.

    6. I don't understand why certain Christians feel the need to save others from "hell" by denouncing other faiths that work perfectly well for other people! To claim that YOUR way is the ONLY way is arrogant and narrow-minded. You very well might be wrong!

      Delete
    7. Isn't telling people that they need to take inventory also being judgmental?

      Delete
    8. To the person at 4:37. I'm the original commenter. When I said not to tear others down for not being there yet, I was referring to Christians that are not as devout as others. I was addressing other Christians and it was not my intention to push my faith on anyone. However, since you have inquired I will address your comment.

When you say there are many ways to get to a good goal, what is the good goal to which you are referring? To be a good person? To receive eternal life? Yes many people may be good, but being good and perfect are not the same thing. I believe we ALL have sinned and only Jesus is without sin. If we accept Jesus as atonement for our sin we are given the free gift of life eternal. So if your good goal is eternal life, yes I believe there is only one way- Jesus!

If your good goal is simply to be a good person, where do you derive your moral standards? This is a big problem for those who want to live according to their own ideas of what is good and not according to God's law. You may believe you are good, but your neighbor may believe you are not. Who is right? I believe in God's law, not my own. I make not claim as to whether someone is good or not. My claim is that there is only one who is perfect- Jesus. And only through belief in Jesus can our sin be atoned for. It does not matter if I am "good" by anyone else's standards. According to God's law I have fallen short, but Jesus took my place so that I may receive God's free gift of eternal life!

    9. Anon@9:34
Your interpretation of the Bible and "God's Law" may or may not be correct. The Scriptures have been a source of conflict, debate, and dispute for eons. As far as moral standards, I think that if one lives by the Golden Rule, you can't go wrong and it doesn't matter if you warm a church pew.

      Delete
    10. To 12:26

I understand your perspective, my question just lies in the fact that, while you may be treating others the way you want to be treated, that is not how others feel. So if you are saying your morals are to live by the golden rule, you either have to force others to live by your moral standard of the golden rule, or you have to allow them to have their own moral standards as well (which won't be the same as yours). In either case, who is correct? Are you allowed to force your view of the golden rule on everyone? Is everyone allowed to have their own moral standard? That is all I am saying- that without a law given to us by God, there is no basis for a moral standard. if we all live by our own morals, you will have some people that have no morals and others that have strict morals. If we impose what we feel is right onto others (like the golden rule) you are forcing others to abide by your morals. I believe God's law was given to us by God and not men. And I don't judge based on this law or hold anyone to it, God does. And He has provided a sacrifice for us so we don't have to suffer the punishment for our sin!

    11. I'm thinking now that i probably shouldn't have written my last reply, just because I never intended for this to be a debate, but just an uplifting post encouraging others not to be judgemental of Amy. If you have any genuine questions about my faith in Christ I would by happy to answer for what I believe. I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas!

    12. @8:58AM -- The reason Christians believe Jesus is the only way is because we follow the Bible/God's Word, which tells us that Jesus is THE way, THE truth, and THE life, and that no man gets to the Father but by HIM. John 14:6

You may not agree, but that's the reason we Christians believe it.

      Delete
    13. 1:07, if Christians believe that, OK, but why do they constantly try to tell everyone else that they're going to you-know-where if they don't believe that way and those things? That's where it crosses the line from religious beliefs to arrogance. Would you go up to someone and start telling them they are using the wrong laundry detergent? Then why tell them they're using the wrong set of beliefs? Keep them to yourself. Even if your Bible says not to, it's still intrusive and annoying.

    1. Amy & Dillon are going on a silly reality show that supposedly helps celebrity couples hash out marital problems. Only all the show does is put them in a bad light and have them fight (and curse) for entertainment purposes. Then the couples go home, bask in their 15 minutes of new-found fame, and cash the paycheck. Nothing is truly solved, and many problems are made up (or blown up) for TV purposes.

It's particularly odd that Amy & Dillon would have been approached to be on the show, since they are a "Christian" couple and have been posting pictures of themselves happily together since before they were married.

    2. basically they are saying that Amy and Dillon are not having enough respect for each other. Just to warn people who think it might be fun to tune in.

This show contains drinking, drugs, infidelity (among some of the participants). No real marriage counseling happens.
It's like they go out of their way to antagonize the couples to fight and create the most disgusting scenes.
The shows former participants have included - p**n stars and se*ual offenders.

And in the past they have ridiculed participants for having religious convictions.

I truly hope Amy leaves any mention of her extended family out of this show.

  34. I only have one thing to say about putting the show down. If you don't like what they show on TLC..The best thing to do is don't watch it. It's that easy. I personally like all of the Duggar shows and I watch them all. As I have said before Christians aren't perfect. I am a Christian and sure not perfect. If Amy wants to be on the show so be it. That's her business. I have never heard that she thinks that it will solve her marriage problems. If it is changed to UP station, there are probably a lot of people that don't even have that channel. Unless TLC owns that station, The Dugger shows are their shows. I don't feel that their shows are trashy. It's life in the real world. Unless you watch a Christian channel like Flix for movies you are going to get all kinds of movies, sitcoms, reality, romance, crime etc. She wasn't raised in the Duggar home, and she has never claimed to live by their standards. Maybe God has a plan for Amy and her husband and will guide them in the right direction to work their marriage problems. We can all pray for them.

    4. That is not true. It is a social construction that the "F"'word or any other is off limits. It is truly not a moral issue. And even if it was, Jesus' salvation is not based on works. The idea that one "f" word automatically makes a person not a Christian is harmful to the message of the true Gospel.

      Delete
    5. The Bible says that God will judge us by the words that we say at the end of the time. not just the words are we gonna be judged by but still it is very serious to watch what comes out of your mouth. the "f" word is off limits for any Christian to say.

      James 2:14-18 says...
"14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?

15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,

16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?

17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works."

    7. @9:50..Dec 7...I am a true Christian as is my husband. We have been married for several decades..mostly very happily. However, we are human and have used the "f" word in anger toward each other upon heated disagreements. That in no way nullifies either of us from being true Christians walking with the Lord. It means we are very human people who still need to repent for very human emotions and reactions. Your ideology is based on works...real Christians do some very unGodly things sometimes. That's why we need the shed Blood of Jesus on a daily basis.

    1. Don't put the burden of saving Amy on Grandma Duggar, Amy is an adult and will make her own choices. I am talking from experience as I too have grandchildren who know Jesus and have walked away into disgusting lifestyles, and try as I might they just won't listen to reason. I've come to realize all I can do is pray for them that they find their way back.

    2. There is such a thing as being too pushy about making your children or grandchildren live a Jesus-approved lifestyle. The more you push some people, the more they resist.

    3. Judging by how often we see grandma hanging out with Amy I would imagine she thinks she's doing just fine.

    2. TLC should keep Counting On, it is still a good wholesome show. But Kate Plus 8 should be cancelled...the twins are so disrespectful. Maddie is especially rude against her mother, while Cara is like a mute. Cara just sits there, looking miserable, not even looking into the camera, and never speaks a word. Get rid of their show!!!!!

  42. Lillie/Ellie :

Do you know if the Dillards intend to disclose exactly what they use donor money for? I mean, more specific that "on the mission field". Do they use any of it for their own cost of living? Travel expenses? Or do they support themselves and the money goes to lifting up those in poverty? How do they decide who is needy how they spend their fan's generous gifts of their hard-earned money?

    Thanks~

    1. Donations to support missionaries do include supporting their living expenses such as rent, medical, food, etc. That is where the bulk of donated funds would go.

      Delete
    2. Anon 9:57 - Hmm, Ok. But is it common for Missionaries to take donations but not discuss their work with the donors? Or do Donors just have to assume their money is being used responsibly?

      Delete
    3. To curious: I can't speak for what is done with the donations, because I have no idea, but I just want to offer some encouragement to you.

I'm assuming you are a donor of funds and that is why you are curious about the use? I was once given some very wise advise by my mother in law after I was upset many years ago about a man outside a cafe who told me a story about needing money that turned out to be a lie. I didn't have a lot of money at the time, and I was upset that I gave some to a person who lied to me about needing it when I thought I was helping someone. Anyway, my mother in law said that when you choose to give money, you are giving out of your heart and you are doing what is right, even if others don't use it for the purpose you wished. This advise changed my heart and my perspective on giving. I have given to homeless people and I can't guarantee what they use it for, but I am doing a good thing to try to help someone in need. And I would much rather give with the possibility it will be used wrong, than to not give and possibly turn someone away who needs the help. Let God take care of the details. When you give money, give it to God. Pray He will use it for good and don't be worried about anything else! I hope this helps!

      Delete
    4. No...I have not donated to them, as I cannot find any mission statement for their work. I send my money to people who are more transparent than the Dillards choose to be. Personally, I wouldn't compare them to panhandlers on the street, because Jill & Derick obviously have their own means. But it's interesting that you make that comparison.

  44. I've always enjoyed when Amy was on the show with the Duggars. She brought a new perspective, upbeat vibe to their show. That being said, we don't know what goes on behind closed doors or whether Amy's marriage has problems. Maybe she needed money? Maybe it pays well like the Duggars show? Let's be honest, the Duggars ABSOLUTELY got paid for talking about Anna and Joshes problems when Counting On started! The Duggars must have wanted money too. Why should Amy be held to a different standard? After all, Anna more than once mentioned her marriage "problems"! Even the Duggar kidaults talked about Josh's problems and marriage difficulties!

  45. Since Amy professes to be a Christian, she should be seeking Godly counselors for help. They won't be found on this how. The Bible has the answers, not a worldly TV show.

  46. Love not the world neither the things of the world. If any man loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 1 John 2:15-17. So disappointed in Amy's choice. This choice does not reflect a decision a true follower of Christ would make. We are to be separate from the world.

  47. Just my observation, but for the longest time I've watched Amy lure people away from Christ with her liberal views and behaviors. Yes, the Duggar family may be very extreme right but in my opionion Amy has gone just as far but to the left. I've served Christ faithfully for nearly 17 years and I'm telling you Jesus isn't going to come looking for His true servants in bars and discos. My God is the same yesterday and today who says, "Be ye holy for I am holy". I am aware that the "Truth" is not well received in the day and age but God said He changes not. You can't "straddle the fence" and not miss the gate folks.

    2. So you are so privileged that you know God's plans and who may be chosen by him ? Please enlighten us. And do you know that some of the most famous Christian were the biggest sinners before meeting God and being converted ?

    3. That's exactly where Jesus looked for and found followers. Prostitutes, adulturers, drunks, etc. And he didn't wait until they stumbled into a judgemental, Pharisee-filled temple. He went out and found them.

We cannot judge Amy's relationship with God. Even IF this is not her wisest decision, it does not automatically make her unholy. If Jesus has claimed her as his own, then she is already holy in God's eyes. Any correction that needs to take place, God will handle. Many, many true believers veer off at times.

      "Judge not."

    5. What about in Jesus time when he preached especially to the lepures and the prostitues? God loves everyone equally, doesn't matter if you're right or left, or hang out at bars or at libraries. What's in your heart matters more.

    6. No one can be "lured" if they know who they are in Christ. Also, Jesus will meet you where ever you are if you call out to Him with a sincere and humble heart. That includes being in a "bar" or a "disco" or anyplace else at the time you call out.

    7. You must live a very isolated world Christ is wherever he is called upon. prisons, hospitals among the poor and downtrodden. I think you are forgetting-" love others as I have lived you" I've tried to serve Christ all my life but I have made mistakes. So since you are so pure- do you think you are Godly?

    8. Just wanted to point out that all Christians start out just like little babies learning to walk. They fall a lot in the beginning. "Baby" Christians aren't without sin- they have new changed hearts, but it takes time to change old behaviors, attitudes, habits, ways of thinking, ways of treating people. They grow by spending more time reading their Bible, hearing God's Word, and praying and listening to God. Just a like a toddler practices walking, they grow from acting sinful and selfish to acting more like God (love, joy, peace, honesty, integrity, faithfulness, kindness, goodness, gentleness, patience, and self-control). As they progress from "walking" to "running", there's less and less sin in their attitudes and lives (they're learning about godliness, integrity, honesty, selflessness, generosity, loving people who act unlovable, and how their own actions affect others). They're beginning to grow up, having God's "personality" (similar to way that your children resemble you physically and reflect your attitudes/your speech/your behavior/your values). Not everyone is serious about their relationship with God though. Carnal Christians want the gifts, but not the Giver. They tend to think of Jesus as their "Get Out Of Hell Free" card. They don't want to go to Hell, but they want to live like the devil (pun intended), by their own rules. They don't want to confront the sin in their lives and leave it behind. Jesus isn't their Lord, just their Savior ("fire insurance"). "Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God-which is your spiritual worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind." Romans 12:1

    9. As for judging Amy,the Bible says "Even a child is known by their actions." Does that mean Amy is not a Christian? No. She may be a baby Christian. Likely, she doesn't have a solid foundation of growing up in a household with two parents loving and actively pursuing God, teaching her how to do the same. Like the rest of us, Amy and Dillon come with baggage too. We're all broken in some way. We don't know her heart or her circumstances, only what we see of her behavior. So, we should be like God, who loved us while we were yet sinners and gave His only Son for us. That means we pray for Amy and Dillon because if they're going that way, they need some help. We're not approving her behavior, we're loving Amy to intervene for her- the same way Jesus intercedes for us. That's called mercy and grace.

      Delete
    10. You all don't know your Bibles and are still missing the point made. We are commanded "to be in the world, but not of the world". Amy is actively indulging and participating in exactly what "the world" is doing. Of course Jesus looks for REPENTENT people in bars and discos. Repentence means you don't continue in sin, your inward change produces an outward result. Amy continues to go to bars, etc while blatantly indulging in debachery and the like. Amy and her husband are promoting a false representation of Christs morals, values, and principals. You can't "have your cake and eat it too". You can't plead the PROMISES in the Bible if you don't practice the PRINCIPALS.

    11. 1:52 PM == GREAT, well-said!!!

      Delete
    12. 12:45 -- You are right that Amy is acting "of the world," not as a Christian should act, and therefore could be a stumbling block to others. However, only God knows her heart and whether she is entitled, as a Christian, to plead those promises made to us as Christians.

People think it's 'cool' to curse but it actually makes them appear very low class." As Christians we are to do our best to follow Christs examples. Where in the bible did he use curse words in his teachings, to his disciples or to children or people he met along his travels?
