  2. I'm so happy for both of you, congratulations!

  3. I hate when people wait until the second trimester because of miscarriage shame.

    1. A Feb baby means she got pregnant in May.. Probably had to wait cause of Jingers announcement. They seem to try to space these things out for promotional purposes.

      Delete
    2. Uh I'd wait too. If you did have a miscarriage than everyone would be sending their condolences. I know a lot of people would want that but I would personally want to be left alone and not make it a big deal. To each her own.

      Delete
    3. That is their prerogative and really none of ours.

      Delete
    4. Miscarriage shame? Really? People wait to announce pregnancies for all kinds of reasons. And when it does have to do with the risk of miscarriage, it's typically not because they're afraid of being shamed for miscarrying, rather that they only want to share that loss with those closest to them.

      Delete
    5. I don't think shame has anything to do with it. No ne wants to share that kind of pain publicly if they can help it. That's just something one prefers to keep private.

      Delete
    6. I found it difficult to get pregnant according to a schedule. It could be that if Jessa was using breastfeeding as a form of birth control, that less nursing or just a flip-flop in her hormones allowed her to get pregnant or they were trying or whatever. It has been announced, but that doesn't mean we need to know the details. I suspect that in a large familiy events and plans often overlap. There are only so many days.

I am confused. I have never heard the term miscarriage shame. On my infertility groups, we used to talk about announcing pregnancies. The risk of miscarriage is much higher in the first trimester than the second. Having a miscarriage isn't shameful, but the pain of loss is hard. It's even harder because people may not know what to say to the woman/couple. The risk of loss is much lower in the second trimester which may be why couples wait. Either way, no shame involved.

      Delete
    7. Maybe it's because she has just passed her 1st trimester. Most people wait until after that to give birth announcements.

      Delete
    8. Could also be because they just found out or they wanted to wait a little longer so they were further in their pregnancy.

      Delete
    9. I don't think it's miscarriage shame....I don't know anyone that miscarried that was ashamed, but instead very sad and disappointed. It's a personal decision to announce a pregnancy and some people prefer to wait. There is no shame in that.

      Delete
    10. It's not necessarily shame. Having a miscarriage is physically and emotionally painful...some people prefer to keep those emotions private. I know I did, and I don't have any publicity to deal with.

      Delete
    11. Yeah, I doubt she waited because of miscarriage shame. This was just a better time to announce it with the new season and staggered with Jinger's announcement.

      Delete
    12. When did Jessa have a miscarriage? I don't remember Jessa have have one.

      Delete
    13. Yeah I would wait because if I miscarried I would not want everyone to make a big deal about it.

      Delete
    14. Katherine, what kind of a comment is that? I truly find it offensive. I had four miscarriages- was that shameful? It was a difficult thing to go through but thankfully I was surrounded by loving, caring people. Shame? You should be ashamed.

      Delete
    15. Sounds like somebody's jealous of the Duggars wonderful joyful bundle of joy and announcements congratulations to all the and God bless

      Delete
    16. Shame? At suffering a miscarriage?

      Delete
    17. A miscarriage can happen at anytime during the pregnancy. Sadly it can happen close to your due date. I would be more concerned about how ben js going to be supporting his wife and kids. He doesnt have to worry about the house because jim bob is covering it. But you cant always live off mom and dad

      Delete
    18. Jessa didn't have and hasn't had a miscarriage, you guys. Why are you talking about it? Just curious.

      Delete
  4. Congratulations Jessa and ben 👶

  5. Congratulations! I'm so happy for ya'll.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I can't believe it! I guess some commenters in the previous posts were right! I totally didn't see this coming, I thought Jill was pregnant, but I didn't expect Jessa to announce a pregnancy so soon. I hope everything goes well.

    ReplyDelete
  7. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! Excited for you guys!

    ReplyDelete
  8. Probably one of the worst-kept secrets the Duggars ever had. It's been obvious since July that she's expecting. Her face changed dramatically, the first clue, then came the loose clothes.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Hi Jessa and Ben so excited about the new baby on board. Can't wait for your new programs to start.

    ReplyDelete
  10. That is such exciting new! So happy for your family.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I'm glad they are great people and as long as they are loving all their kids people need to leave them alone I live all the Dugger's so I don't want to see anymore bad comment

    ReplyDelete
  12. Congrats Can't wait to start the new season.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Congratulations Jessa and Ben on your up coming new bundle of joy I'm sure Spurgeon will be a great big brother!!!

    ReplyDelete
  14. How wonderful! I would love to see an update from the couple on their job/career plans!

    1. I agree. 2 kids to support is not cheap. What is ben doing?

      Delete
  15. i was just on facebook and saw this amazing

    ReplyDelete
  16. I knew it!!! There is a picture of Jessa going around and you can totally tell she's pregnant.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Congrats to Jessa,Ben,and Spurgeon!

    ReplyDelete
  18. I guess that means adoption is out the window for a while! Can't say that is a bad thing, they are SO young.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I don't understand how having a bunch of biological kids at that age is any better than having adopted children.

      Delete
    2. Adopted children may have suffered trauma that requires a lot of tools to deal with. The more experienced you are, the more tools you have.

      Delete
  19. AWWW! SO EXCITED FOR YA'LL!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Wasn't she in C.A. visiting Jill in April? And then she got pregnant in May? Isn't there a recommended wait time for that, if you've been in an area with Zika?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. There is...it can be carried in the man for up to 6 months and then transferred to the woman. Hoping they were both tested for Zika before they conceived.

      Delete
    2. Why the negativety?

      Delete
    3. You think that discussing pregnancy safety practices for Zika virus is negative? There's so much confusion and things change so much with the outbreak that it needs to be discussed more!

      Delete
    4. Yikes! The zika Virus is scary, I hope baby is healthy! God gives us the wisdom to understand the seriousness of the virus, it's up to us to take the responsibility to use his wisdom! God can't force You!

      Delete
    5. It's not negativity, it's reality. Asking tough questions because Zika is dangerous. Just because we wish that everything is wonderful and rosey doesn't mean that it is. And just because someone asks a tough question doesn't mean they are a hater.

      Delete
    6. Asking about Zika is not being negative. You must be kidding.

      Delete
    7. It's not negativity, it's being realistic about a virus that affects unborn babies.

      Delete
  21. Congratulations to you both

    ReplyDelete
  22. Yay!!, Congratulations!! Can't wait for the new season! Love seeing you all! Xoxo

    ReplyDelete
  23. I may be reading too much into this, but I think she may be having TWINS!😃
Here's to a happy and healthy pregnancy Jessa! You are absolutely glowing!!!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. They tried to keep people speculating about twins during her last pregnancy, long after other hints seemed like it would be just one

      Delete
    2. Did her mom have twins then apparently there's a possibility who cares there's always a possibility you just never know congratulations to you Ben and Jessa on your new bundle or bundles of joy

      Delete
    3. My Mom was a twin and she didn't have twins and my Mom's twin didn't have twins either and her kids didn't have twins either.

      Delete
  24. I'm so happy to see Jessa and Jill and their families doing so well and now a new baby coming ... so sweet. The only thing that would be better is to have ALL the family and extended families together again. CONGRATULATIONS.

    ReplyDelete
  25. You can see the love they have oh I love it! Congratulations to the family!!

    ReplyDelete
  26. A big congratulations to the Seawall! How exciting!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I just hope they do a hospital birth this time and that Jessa gets an epidural! If someone reaches their pain threshold no one should be convinced to push through it...her body, her decision.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yes, it IS her decision, epidural or no.

      Delete
    2. But it was not her decision to bleed so much last time, so for that reason alone, she is better off in a hospital this time. Home births have not gone well for either married daughter.

      Delete
    3. Completely agree with you Jennifer

      Delete
    4. @Anonymous, I agree. Not sure why they seem to think pain and risk is a badge of courage or something.

      Delete
    5. I believe she was questioned by other woman in the room, "are you sure that's what you want to do?", etc. if a woman says she needs an epidural than that should be it, case closed. No one should be coerced into how much pain they can stand.

      Delete
  28. Congratulations Ben, Jessa and little Spurgeon!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Congratulations on your baby on the way!!!!! I am so happy for y'all I just don't have words other than awww congrats I already know spurgeon is going to be a good big brother!!!! ♥ ♂/♂??

    1. She's due in February, so she's been pregnant for about 4 months already.

      Delete
    2. It will be 4 months in September.

Know they will finally have all the months take know. Their was never a Duggars born in February tell know.

      Delete
  32. Soooooo I guess adoption won't be happening anytime soon!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Is this going to affect their plans to adopt? I know before they said the agency they were working with preferred that they not be expecting, and that their child be at least nine months of age.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Which is why they'll never adopt...

      Delete
    2. That's funny everybody suspected it was Jill and nobody suspected it was just a until just before the season it doesn't matter if she was pregnant a few months before every mom and knows that it is a Superstition of Our Own not to say anything for the first month or two congratulations Ben and Jessa you will have a sibling soon you'll be a good Big Brother Jesse you'll do just fine congratulations y'all

  34. oh how exciting! I hope it's a little girl! I'm so happy for them.

  35. Congratulation Jessa and Ben!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Awww how nice Spurgeon will be a happy big brother with a little playmate! If I may suggest, for girl names: Grace, Hope, Lily, and for a boy: Brady, Jaden, Colton. Congrats to Jessa Ben and little Spurgeon!

    ReplyDelete
  37. And the "official" news just happens to come out on the same day as their program. Even though it's been obvious for weeks that she's pregnant.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Congratz! Iam so excited for you! :D

    ReplyDelete
  39. How wonderful! God bless you all. Hope it's a smooth pregnancy Jessa :-)

    ReplyDelete
  40. congratulations jessa and ben!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Anyone who follows the Seewalds has known this for weeks. This is not really news, just a new video with confirmation of what we already knew.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I'm sure that we all wish Jessa a healthy pregnancy and child to come...but I can't help but notice how "the information was released" the day their TV show will air. It has been obvious to many of us on the internet that she was expecting for a while now anyway... "Not a TV family?"...sure they are, it's all about publicity, timing and money.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Why would anyone think that they should not promote their own show? Surely no one is suggesting that promotion is the purpose of the pregnancy. I see nothing wrong with timing the announcement to help the show. They would have waited until about the second trimester anyway, even without the show.

      Delete
    2. I agree. There is a lot of thought put into the timing of announcements and how announcements are worded, for example the "baby or babies" comment to promote max. viewership.

      Delete
    3. Of course they are a tv family. They are on tv since 2004 and about 10 children have been born after that. From Jackson down, the youngest Duggars have never known a life of not being on tv.

      Delete
    4. I believe that is absolutely correct but not only do they I have to have timing for promotion of their show whether or not they're having any apps or Downs in there show we all still enjoy it plus if you say something in the beginning part of your pregnancy it is bad luck that's why waiting is always best it helps me be able to see their show still so you keep it going seewalds Duggars Dillard's and keep strong Anna one way or another to stay strong as an individual my heart goes out to you

      Delete
  43. Congratulations Ben and Jessa on baby no. 2. It's nice to have your children close in age. God Bless You

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Isn't there twenty-something years between them?

      Delete
    2. Between their children there will be about 15 months. Don't know where the "twenty years" comes from.

  44. Congratulations and many blessings to Ben, Jessa and Spurgeon!!! ♥

  46. Love the Duggars!

    ReplyDelete
  47. I thought they were going to adopt next? What happened to that plan?

    ReplyDelete
  48. I'm so happy for y'all jessa Ben and supergon congrats

    ReplyDelete
  49. Congratulations!!
Hope and pray all goes well and the baby is healthy. So soon after visiting Central America is worrisome.
February babies are a fun challenge😀

    ReplyDelete
  50. SO SoOO happy for them! Children are a gift from the LORD! What a sweet blessing!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Jessa, where did you get you slip (pregnancy photoshoot)? It's so lovely I would like to get one for my grandmother, she loves slips in that style. Pleeeeaseee. I want to get one for my grandma's birthday!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It's not a slip, it's a lace panel added to the bottom of the dress for "modesty" because looking at knees is immodest for Duggars.

      Delete
  52. Congratulations!
    So happy for you all.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Am I the only one who's nervous for her? When she delivered Spurgeon it sounded like she didn't even have a midwife with her, sisters and Jill on Facetime don't count. She had a lot of bleeding and that's a traumatic incident to recover from. I know many people have an "ideal birth" that they want to achieve but I hope she takes into account her own health and safety and the safety of her baby when deciding how to deliver.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The only "ideal" birth is the one where both the mother and the baby survive and are healthy afterwards. So decisions should be made based on that ideal. What you want (giving birth in your own bedroom) may not necessarily be what's best. I hope some hospital staff doctor made that very clear to Jessa after last time.

      Delete
    2. You need to watch that show because she did have a midwife not just Jill on the device and she'll make her own decisions she is the mama I'm so excited for you😂😃😘😇😇😇😇👼👼👼👼👼👣👣👣👣👣👏👏👏👍💞💖💜💜💜💜💙💙💙💚💚💚🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🌹💐🌸🐞💐🌸💮🌷🌼🌻🌺🌹🌹🌹

    3. Sometimes you can't make your own decisions. Sometimes Mother Nature has something completely different in store for your delivery and you have to abandon original plans to go with whatever is the safest. I think both Jill and Jessa, last time, pushed too far to have home births, and both had bad consequences of their decisions. At least they both got to hospitals on time.

      Delete
  54. Getting pregnant when you have a 6 month old baby does not give a woman's body that much time to recover. It is also too much of a load on a woman's body to be breast feeding, doctor recommended for the first 12 months, and pregnant at the same time.

Accidents happen, of course. But this couple is very young and seems to lack maturity.

They are talking about domestic adoption when the agency warned them that any children they already have had to be at least 9 months old. Unless they take steps (and that can be done naturally) to space the births of their natural children, they should stop talking about adoption.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I agree, 9:47. They need to stop tossing around that sweet and blessed adoption talk as if it were still possible.

      Delete
    2. I also had a son last year in November and am also currently pregnant and due in February with twins :) maybe Jessa is the same. I don't think falling pregnant so quickly shows lack of maturity since I am only 24 years old and we seeked medical advice from two separate Drs to ensure it was safe to fall pregnant within 12 months of given birth.

We were advised that due to my age and the fact I had a natural birth there was nothing stopping us. However since I also was breastfeeding we were told that we may not fall pregnant until 12 plus months anyway. No one knows how long it will take to full pregnant.

      Delete
    3. I have never heard the term "fall pregnant." Is that like Michelle's "catching" a baby? What country or part of the US uses that term? Just curious.

      Delete
    4. Falling pregnant is a common term used in Australia.

      Delete
    5. Maybe they can't adopt that's why they got pregnant. If people would read between the lines.

      Delete
    6. In french, we say ''tomber enceinte''. It means to fall pregnant. Maybe english isn't her first language.

      Delete
  55. That is amazing. They are great parents, I guess adoption will have to wait a little while longer. I hope everything goes well with this one. Spurgeon will be an amazing big brother. Congratulations Ben and Jessa!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. A little while longer could easily turn into forever, at this rate.

      Delete
  56. Replies
    1. Why poor Jill??????

      Delete
    2. Why? It's not a race. Jill and Derrick's life is a little bit harder than Ben and Jessa's, as they are on a mission trip. Maybe they think it's better to wait a little longer.

Plus, having babies is not the only way to have a happy life. The fact that Jessa is pregnant doesn't necessarily hurt Jill, or any Duggar girls.

      Delete
  57. That's great! Plus February is the one month where there are no birthdays! :)

    ReplyDelete
  58. Congratulations Ben and Jessa and Spurgeon Seewald I hope you enjoy the moment she have as together as well as family remember to take time for yourself and the loved ones around you

    ReplyDelete
  59. Will you be having a baby shower

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Back in the day, a woman had a baby shower for only her first child, but it seems they do them for every child nowadays. Must get expensive for friends and family of large families like the Duggars.

      Delete
    2. And back in the day, nobody in the family ever dreamed of giving another family member a baby shower or a wedding shower. It was always done by friends, co-workers, neighbors, church or club members, etc. It was a breach of etiquette for a family member to be directly involved in any gift-giving event, or be the one who sent the invitations and threw the party.

That is one etiquette rule that needs to be reinstated, as baby showers and wedding showers have gotten completely out of control now. You also never sent a registry of gifts or a link to one along with the invitation! Seems everyone has a bad case of the Gimmies these days. Etiquette still has its place in modern society and it's wonderful when you encounter it. Not so much when you don't......

She won't be able to handle the demands of caring for two babies unless she gives them to her sisters but still why not enjoy your first child then wait? I don't get the dugger world why they rush to get pregnant and married so soon.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Congratulations :) just too bad it will postcode adoption plans again. But they will surely adopt later then :) about pregnancy announcement - early announcement is nog good, I was just diagnosed with blighted ovum (my body thinks I am pregnant but there is no embryo inside the gestational sac)and actually waiting for natural misscarriage of the sac, it is emotionally very painful if you were looking forward so much. This you won't know before your first ultrasound between 8 and 10 weeks. Sharing early your positive pregnancy test with family and friends can lead to huge dissapointment later. I am happy we kept it secret for our parents. I would be due in march...still a very fresh pain. But hey, once I am renoveren we will try again ;)
