Jim Bob, Michelle, and Jessa react to Jinger's courtship announcement
Are you looking forward to tonight's new segment of Counting On?
Coming up on season two, episode two...
Jeremy Vuolo eats a meal with the Duggar family for the first time, and Jinger seeks courtship advice from Jill and Derick Dillard. Later, Ben shares his plans for a youth outreach program, and the older Duggar siblings head out into the wilderness for survival training.
It has been more than 16 months since the last Duggar announced a courtship, so the family provides a refresher on their standards for "dating...with marriage in mind," as Joy-Anna Duggar defines it.
Down in Central America, the Dillards tell viewers that their new lives as missionaries have forced them to discuss difficult questions, such as what Jill should do if Derick doesn't come home one day.

I like that they use the word "dating" now.
ReplyDeleteThe Duggar kids were taught that dating is "selfish" and its goal is "to have fun." Couples can "easily succumb to temptation." It's a "self-centered" activity that can "lead only to dissatisfaction, promoting an attitude of lust." (See "Journey to the Heart.")
ReplyDeleteSo all of you who dated your spouse or other people first, you did it all wrong.
That was not Jeremy's first meal with the Duggars. He was spotted in a photo taken in the kitchen of their house way back last fall or winter sometime. Everyone asked who he was, remember?
ReplyDeleteI doubt Jill shares Derick's enthusiasm for being "overseas."
ReplyDeleteJinger is so delicately, perfectly, perfect! She is amazing!
ReplyDeleteI really appreciated the second video from Jill and Derick. I thought it showed a lot of wisdom and understanding. It was nice to hear that side from them, as I thought the first episode made it seem like they were just scared and longing to be back in Arkansas.
ReplyDeleteJB asking B&J to give "advice" to J&J - so staged, so unnecessary on camera. This show really is struggling to fill air time.
ReplyDeleteI don't like the way they are airing Jinger making a thing out of not eating. It's not funny or cute. Is she showing signs of becoming anorexic? She's always been the "thin" one and I wonder if controlling her eating more than ever now is her way of trying to have control of something in her life. Or a sign of how she handles stress. Any case, it's not something TLC should be featuring. It's not a good role model for other young girls.
ReplyDeleteThey showed her not eating THREE scoops of ice cream. In no way is only eating 2 scoops of ice cream something that should be called an eating or control disorder. I see a very wise young woman with self control. In this day of obesity and self indulgence, this clip of her should be all over the media.
DeleteI think that as soon as she has her first baby this will change. Look at Jill and Jessa: before the wedding they were really skinny, while after baby they don't seem to obsess about their image at all. I guess their sister will be the same.
DeleteShe made a point to say how she had no appetite, which is strange to say on camera. Then she didn't eat all her ice cream, but chowed down on lasagna in the next scene. So which is it - appetite, or not? Don't say one thing but do the other.
DeleteThat was two different events. No one maintains the kind of consistency you suggest they ought to, because one time they actually may be excited and not want to eat much, the next time they may feel hungry and be ready to eat. It is just natural to have different appetites at different times and occasions. I do not see this as a case of hypocrisy, it just doesn't apply to these two events. Also who is not guilty of breaking a resolve to eat less by chowing down on tempting foods? That has to be the number one case of saying one thing and doing another.
DeleteSo tired of Derick & Jill dwelling on danger. We get it. You were not comfortable there. You left. (The locals couldn't.) None of us are guaranteed to come back home on any given day, no matter where we live. Think of service men & women, fire men & women, police men & women, pilots, anyone who commutes to work, anyone with a heart beat..... Those dangers they named could happen in anyone's town. Don't they watch the news? Pray for everyone, not just the Dillards.
ReplyDeleteCould. Not. Have. Said. It. Better. Thanks!
DeleteI would be concerned about Zika, if I was any of those girls who had gone down to Central America. I admire their courage, but glad they are all home now.
ReplyDeleteThat sounded like a bit of hemming and hawing from Jinger on those "courtship standards." Methinks there's been a kiss or two between them; I'd certainly bet at least on a forehead kiss, which we saw ol' Jeremy leaning into on that engagement announcement video. Go, Jinger!
ReplyDeleteI know this is completely off topic but I've been waiting to see any mention of Josh and the new victim who has come out. I read about this in June 2016. Is Josh not mentioned on this blog anymore? Just wondering. Anyone know anything about this?
ReplyDeleteI so enjoyed the Program tonight! So good to catch up again. Love this show!!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed tonight's episode of Counting On, and have been keeping up with the Duggers for years on TLC. I am troubled, though, by Derick Dillards' decision to stay in South America with the dangers posed there. I hope he is continually seeking God's counsel, and considering the needs of Jill and their son. There are Many opportunities for ministry in our own communities. As spiritual head of his family, Derrick has a responsibility to honor and protect his wife and son. I will be praying for them as I continue to pray for God's best for all members of this precious family.
ReplyDeleteWill jill and jess counting on be aviable on dvd as i do not get tlc chann
ReplyDeleteI've managed to watch episode one on YouTube, so I'm hoping I can continue to watch the others on there also
DeleteI would love to see Jana find a Love interest. She is a grown adult and should be allowed to move out and explore the world if she wants too.
ReplyDeleteJinger and Jeremy are an adorable couple. I love you guys and support you and wish they had the family back. I mean people make mistakes, addictions are real usually at least someone in everyone's family. I don't believe you should be punished for his mistakes he is a grown man now and had to accept responsibility for his actions. Be blessed
