Why can't they just wish Jill and happy birthday in a personal way instead of making avideo? She's right there yet Michelle is yelling over the sounds of the waves.

DeleteYou know, I have been thinking the same thing for a while. As much as I love watching this family, it feels awkward when they do the birthday and Mother's Day and Father's Day videos. And yesterday, on the official Duggar Facebook page, they posted like 3 posts in just a couple of hours on this (I think one was Jessa saying happy birthday, one was Derrick writing a blog to Jill, and one was TLC's birthday tribute). There is something to honoring someone publicly (like Derrick's blog), but videos like this one just feel awkward and I don't really get why they are doing it.
DeleteShow me all the videos you want of Josie singing, Israel trying new foods and crawling and walking, Jennifer sewing, pictures and videos of ministry work or public appearances, the kids playing violin, the middle boys making thier own short movies, etc. but the birthday shoutout videos, especially ones like this where they are standing right next to the person, are really weird. That said, I still watched it.
So the rest of the family and those of us who love them can see them.
DeleteI think they like to keep a video diary of special events. They can put them together as a keepsake. I think it's a great idea and I'm pleased they share. What I don't understand is why critics are even on this blog. If you are so annoyed by what the Duggars do, go onto a blog you actually like, and let us enjoy this blog in peace without having to scroll through your negative comments.

DeleteAgree William! I love the Duggars, but the videos like this are a bit on the odd side. Maybe just post a photo and caption it "Jim Bob and Michelle celebrating Jill's birthday at the beach in Central America." Or the video could be of them celebrating and frolicking on the beach.
DeleteFor the same reason everyone else does this decade: it's fun, they want other family members to see whazzup, video album, being cute, wanting to share with a lot of people, all you have to do is go to YouTube to discover the Duggars are not unique.

In honoring her birthday, they are honoring the God who created her...it's that simple. Can't someone tell you multiple times that they are glad you are here on Earth on the day you entered the world as a creation of God? Why would that recognition once or even 50 times on your birthday ever be too much?

The place where they are is dangerous in know because i'm from there.don't critized if you don't know well. I'm happy that Michelle and Bob are visiting their daughter jill for her birthday I think is the best presen that you have give your daughter. Family is precious anD a gift from the lord. ReplyDeleteI believe birthdays are VERY important in their particular sect. They always have a party with decorations, etc. for everyone's birthday. It makes sense since the basic tenet of their religion is to populate the earth as much as they can. Since each baby is a blessing, of course they would celebrate each birthday as the most precious gift from God.

DeleteNatalia Chris wasn't making fun of his appearance. He was generally worried about his health. Derrick has a skinny body type but he was never that little. He looks like he has a vitamin deficiency and that is cause for concern.

DeleteI don't think if I were in a "dangerous" country that I would be wearing my big and expensive phone on my waist for everyone to see. Or have a big red bag ready to be grabbed. So either it isn't that dangerous, or someone doesn't have much common sense. Either way, kind of goes against everything we're supposed to believe.

I was thinking the same thing, but they announced pretty early that they were expecting Israel, so I am sure they would have announced already if a new baby is arriving! But you never know ! :)

DeleteI don't understand the need for being in the public eye ALL the time. It's not normal. This family needs to learn how to preserve some privacy, especially for the sake of their children. They haven't chosen this, but the actions of the parents will follow them through the rest of their lives.

Ellie and Lily are kind enough to do this blog for those of us who still enjoy hearing about the Duggars. If they didn't feel comfortable with the blog, I'm sure the writers wouldn't print anything. Thank you for posting this video and I love seeing Jim Bob and Michelle too since they seem to be excluded from the newer tv show. ReplyDeleteHappy birthday Jill! I have been on that exact same beach and have stayed in the same town that you derick and sweet baby izzy are in! It is very beautiful there and the markets are amazing!! The locals are very nice as well. And for all the nay Sayers who think that it's too dangerous to bring friends and family there..... Please! The only threats there are the mosquitos ( they carry the Zika virus) scorpions and spiders. The other larger animals are scared of humans ( i.e. Cougars) but the insects and bugs can be sneaky! The town itself is perfectly safe!!! (It caters to tourists and is beautiful!) That is not true about the more rural areas. Filled with drug cartel and violence between gangs. But geez the Dillard's are FINE where they are at!

ReplyDeleteI'm so happy Michelle, Jim Bob and James went to visit the Dillards. I was also living abroad for missions on my 25th birthday and my daughter was close in age to Israel. When living far away from home, having loved ones visit is intensely cathartic.

Happy birthday Jill. So glad your mom and dad could be with you to celebrate. You have such a wonderful attitude and have adjusted so well to all the changes in your life. You certainly live out Col. 3:12. "clothing yourself with compassion, kindness, humility and patience". A verse that has been a delight to my own heart in my relationship with God is Psalm 36:7-9. "How priceless is Your unfailing love, Oh God! People take refuge in the shadow of Your wings. They feast on the abundance of Your house. You give them drink from Your river of delights. For with You is the fountain of life." Staying close to the Savior is key! Love you all. Praying for you.
