On Monday evening, Michelle Duggar and Anna Duggar spent the evening at Cross Church in Springdale, Arkansas, at an event called The Fervent Tour.
The Fervent Tour is led by author and speaker Priscilla Shirer, who played Elizabeth Jordan in the hit film War Room, and features worship music from Priscilla's brother, Anthony Evans.
A wife and mother of three, Priscilla has devoted her career to discipling fellow believers and showing them how to experience the power of God in personal and practical ways.

DeleteThe movie is about a woman in an abusive relationship and she relies on god to help her stand by her man despite the abuse. The woman prayed and prayed and just hoped her husband would change. Is that how Christian wives are supposed to be- just pray until everything is all better? I understand the covenant of marriage but a line needs to be drawn sometime or the wife will only be miserable, afraid , in danger but will continue to let the abuse continue bc it's gods will to stay in a bad marriage ( assuming everything has been done to repair). I certainly don't want my daughters to think this behavior is expected and for them to feel they are powerless and only have the voice of prayer. Prayers help but you have to have common sense to. God shod gave women brains in irder to be smart, strong, confident and able to handle life situations even if it means walking away from a marriage.

DeleteYou must not understand the devastation of abuse. It absolutely shocks me the number of women who still defend this behavior. Why would you think God wants his daughters to be abused mentally or physically. I find these kind of movies and teachings very dangerous.

DeleteIt's probably just another ring. She took an oath in front of God to stand by her man in sickness and in health. Josh is currently getting back on track to good health. I can't imagine she'd take off her wedding ring or move it to another hand.

DeleteJosh is getting help and is on his way to recovery from his sickness. With God's help he will prevail and his family will be healed. Many men and just as many women have done the same thing that Josh has done and I'm sure that many of them have not turned to God for help. Josh did and he should be commended for it, not torn down.
DeleteWomen wear rings on both hands all the time. I have had 5 different wedding sets ( same husband I just love diamonds!) and I wear an anniversary band on my right hand. Maybe Anna loves jewelry.

DeleteIt is concerning to me this trend that somehow we Christian wives are somehow responsible for our husbands sinful behavior. To teach we should just shut up and pray is a disaster waiting to happen. Why are we not seeing any movies about husbands shutting up and praying for their abusive, cheating lying wives. I will tell you why--no man would put up with it or be expected to live with it. Wives..forgiving does not mean enabling abuse.

DeleteI didn't take the movie that way at all. More that by bringing our troubled thoughts to God that there then may not be a war at home to fight for God, irregardless of what we do or do not know for certain, will fight each battle for us until the war is won.
DeleteFireproof he was online being unfaithful and she simply had a crush that involved nothing sexual. I think you missed the point the point of the movie. And the only reason it worked it was the selfish spouse taking steps to become unselfish.

ReplyDeleteIf she's pregnant, that shows a horrible lack of judgment on her part, and I think the family would be done as far as public opinion is concerned.
DeleteI think we can all agree that Anna is definitely not pregnant. It seems unlikely that she'll be taking Josh back into the marital bed anytime soon. She may be stress eating or she may still be holding onto some baby weight. It's perfectly normal and I think she looks wonderful!

DeleteSee, this is one major reason why I stopped looking at the blog long ago. I've read all the comments and quite frankly, y'all need to go read your bible. So many people taking things out of context, mixing it with emotion and vain teaching. And for the person who said that war room was about a woman being abused? Hogwash. Her and her husband just struggled to communicate. She would nag, and he would ignore her. She was trying to be his Holy Spirit. Anna has done the right thing sticking by Josh. It takes a real woman to forgive. And it doesn't matter where she is living. Home is where the heart is. The best place for her to be is surrounded by people she loves and that love her. And as for pregnant? Ha! Intimate meetings are not allowed at the treatment centre where Josh is. How about instead of criticising, pray for her. Choosing to stay and love is not an easy choice. But it is a brave one. There, I've said my peace. I'll get off my soapbox now.
ReplyDeleteI guess it's good you came back so you could speak your peace. I am the one that said the movie was abusive. That is how I see it. This whole patriarchal movement is about men stepping up as the husbands God called them to be,and yet we see over and over both in real life and film it is the women who seem to carry all the responsibility. I am a firm believer in prayer, and I believe in restoration, forgiveness and miracles. I also believe sometimes all those components happen when you have the strength to forgive yourself and walk away. I agree we are not our husbands Holy Spirit or Saviour. If they choose to go down the road of pornography( which is adultery) and and physical adultery or abuse of any kind then any woman should not feel pressured to stay. That is not a lack of faith or forgiveness. It takes so much strength when you are already at your lowest to say "no" I am worth more than that. I find the men within these circles sure do have so much forgiveness, Grace, empathy, excuses thrown their way. But a woman who says " no more" well she is just thrown to the wolves. It's 2016 and we women are still afraid to stand up for ourselves knowing the whispers and shunning we will receive from church members. It's so very, very heartbreaking.
DeleteWhy oh why do so many on here assume if you choose to walk away from a cheating spouse it's because you have not forgiven them? Forgiveness has nothing to do with staying. In fact there are many married Christian couples operating in unforgiveness, bitterness, offense etc but stay married just for appearances. Now that is hogwash!! And as for intimate meetings--his "treatment " center allows congical visits after about 8 weeks. You don't know if Anna has done the right thing. She has 2 daughters that need protecting. Choosing to love and leave isn't easy either, but just as brave.

ReplyDeleteIt's a Michael Kors dress. Can't figure out if there's been something added to the neckline or if that laced area was sewed shut or what. In the original version, that was an open "V" area of lacing. Yes, we've seen it before. It was probably in the communal closet at the house.

We are suppose to forgive and pray not only for loved ones but our enemies as well that all men would come to Christ.if our brother is falling away and sincerely wants to change it is our duty as believers and followers of Christ Jesus to show His love. The bible says that God wanted none to perish none! How ever if you choose to continue only the Father knows if you are no longer His. So please be slow to speak and quick to listen to the Holy Spirit. And if all else let your yea be yea and nearly be new. God's peace be unto you.

ReplyDeleteI am so thankful to Lily and Ellie for this blog!I literally get anxiety everytime I read another false made up pathetic story by the tabloids about this family.I felt horrible for every single person in that house once the story came out last May!I would have never in my wildest dreams imagined that America would have handled things this way and bashed those poor girls and their parents!Thats just sick.I m so glad I have a place to let this off my chest and support this wonderful family!
