For those of you who have been asking for an update on Josiah Duggar's courtship with Marjorie Jackson, take a look at this message from Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar:
Both Josiah and Marjorie have enjoyed getting to know each other and [building] their friendship over the past months. We are so grateful that they each are seeking the Lord’s will for their future.
A few weeks ago Marjorie and Josiah agreed to end their courtship, keeping in step with what they believe the Lord’s will is. Both are thankful for the time getting to know each other, and their
families continue to enjoy each other’s company and close friendship.
As parents we are very pleased to see two young people searching out their futures with God's will as their first priority!

No they were really good for each other .
ReplyDeleteSad
How do you know???
DeleteNot surprised, unfortunately. She was way too young and Josiah did not really look that happy in photos with her.It seems like a setback, but both of them will come out of their relationship stronger and wiser because of this.
ReplyDeleteWith all due respect the guns are at odds, to me, with the text. Guns are for killing. And that has no place with regards to God.
ReplyDeleteThe guns are from a ride at an amusement park where you shoot at targets with a laser.
DeleteAnd no place in regards to a break-up.
DeleteJust because there are guns it doesn't mean anything, my parents and I love shooting guns for fun, guns aren't bad because they DONT kill people, people kill people
DeleteThat's too bad. They both seemed so happy together. I wonder what caused the split?
ReplyDeleteAmen!
ReplyDeleteI appreciate your updates, really miss the show. I've even been harassed for expressing my opinion. Hope that you will continue to post pics, would like more of Meredith.
ReplyDeleteGod Bless them both..
ReplyDeleteI'm so sad to hear this. I think they make a cute couple.
ReplyDeleteThat is so sad!!!!
ReplyDeleteI know the last few months must have been difficult. They are very young. Blessings.
ReplyDeleteOh sorry to hear this. I guess maybe all the upheaval was too much. They are both young so in Gods time all will workout.
ReplyDeleteMissing watching the show!!
ReplyDeleteThat is wonderful that they both are seeking God first! He will guide their steps to continue on the path He has laid out for each of them! Thank you to both families for believing in our Lord and Savior and for sharing your faith with us but more importantly, your family.
ReplyDeleteLove in Christ
I think they were just too young too go to this step & did the right thing.
ReplyDeleteSounds like they did what was best for both of them. Good luck to both of them in the future. Miss seeing y'al on tv hope you can put your family back on in the near future.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that, but I know God has great plans. Any truth to the rumor that 19 kids is going to lifetime?
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that they ended their courtship. Hope it was not because of Josiah's brother's sex scandal. They would of made a great match if they didn't have so many differences. Is this the first Duggar courtship to end?
ReplyDeleteSia had nothing to do with his brothers actions...Josh and Josiah: Sorry this is happening to you. You both know who you are & I respect you greatly
ReplyDeleteSorry they didn't work out. Wish them both much happiness in the future. They were a cute couple, but I'm sure they know what's best for them.
ReplyDeletesorry to hear this but happy to know that this couple followed the wise advise of their parents and did not get so involved that the courtship could not end in a friendship. so many young couple go so far and become so involved that even though they know it is not working they continue to marriage. i will be praying for both josiah and marjorie to find the spouse God has for them. again THANK YOU to this site and the Duggars for keeping the fans updated!
ReplyDeleteThat is good that they are following the Lord's will.
ReplyDeleteWe are sorry to hear about the end of the courtship. I think these two young people are in tune with what the Lord might want for their lives so we are greatful they can still be friends despite the end of their possible marriage relationship. Both are great kids as I kind of know Josiah from watching him on TV. I don't really know Marjorie but if Josiah picked her for a possible mate then I know she is a great girl. I hope th both find their path through their love for the Lord and find the happiness they both so fully deserve. I will keep both in my prayers. God Bless
ReplyDeleteGlad we have the blog to keep in touch with what if going on with the Duggars. Sure do miss the show!!!!
ReplyDeleteSo it wasn't a courtship. They were dating. Which is perfectly fine! And I think that most people do just that. The best of luck to the both of them in the future!
ReplyDeleteWhat makes it not a courtship?
DeleteI believe it WAS a courtship. Their decision made insofar as they could discern God's will was that they should not continue the courtship.
DeleteCourtships can end also. The purpose of a courtship is to spend time together with family friends, getting to know each other and seeking God's direction as to whether or not pursue marriage. The most basic differences from dating involve a focus on getting to know each other in a family setting (rather than solely one-on-one where a couple can simply put their best foot forward), a commitment to seek God's direction for the relationship (rather than casual dating for the fun of it), and a focus on biblical purity. Now all these can be accomplished in a dating framework, but it is typically quite rare.
DeleteALL friendships and relationships run the risk of pain and heartache. The good news for Josiah and Marjorie is that they didn't give their (whole) hearts and bodies to each other, they can remain friends who encourage each other in the Lord, and they have the support of their families and friends.
I think this will turn out to be the best thing for Josiah. He seems like a young man really comfortable with who he is. if he felt it wasn't right, hen it wasn't right. Best wishes to you both!
ReplyDeleteMissing you all prayers coming your way!
ReplyDeleteRefreshing to see that the right person isn't always the first. Take your time . thanks for the update.
ReplyDeleteThat is sad to learn that they ended their courtship... but if it was God's plans for them, then that is what matters! I know it's none of my business, but I think they were too young to start a courtship, since they seemed not prepared for marriage in a near future (maybe not even in a distante future?). I hope God uses the next years of their lives to make them more mature and prepared for the one He has for each one of them! May God bless them!
ReplyDeleteI applaud their decision. I'll be praying for each of them that God directs their paths.
ReplyDeleteWishing you all the very best.
ReplyDeleteWhat?! Nooooo! But I guess they figured that it wasn't meant to be.
ReplyDeleteThat's okay Josiah and Marjorie. You just keep pressing onward and forward. This is part of life. Having been through several relationships myself in my younger years, I know and understand. I wish you both the best. Still a huge fan of your show, even though it's off the air.
ReplyDeleteI'm not surprised with the scandal. I wouldn't want to be involved in the scandal either. Marjorie and Josiah are young. They deserve to go to college and get an education. I wish them both the best.
ReplyDeleteA very cute couple. Unfortunately, the haters are already salivating, ready to pounce. It is so very sad but telling . . . your family must be true believers in Jesus because proof of this is the intense hate and persecution. Keep up the good work! We are on your side.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to these young people for recognizing that this relationship was not appropriate for a future marriage, and for taking the next step in moving forward by continuing to seek the "right" person. I am sure that both of them are wonderful people and will eventually find the one they want to build a life with. I wish we could have gotten to know them better, both during and after, their courtship.
ReplyDeleteWhy did they breakup?
ReplyDeleteDid their break up have anything to do with the media and the situation that people can't seem to let go.
ReplyDeleteBetty, you are so right... I am sure that, unfortunately, many couples become too involved and it leads them to proceed to marriage, even though they know they really don't want to marry the person. The Duggars are way ahead of the game in that regard - their children will never have to spend years in a wrong marriage because they became too physically involved before.
ReplyDeleteI am very glad that they ended this courtship because it seemed to me from the beginning that Marjorie was not a good fit for Josiah.. My prayer for Josiah is that he will meet that special girl that God has for him and he will know as soon as he sees her for she will touch his heart..
ReplyDeleteAre those real guns?
ReplyDeleteI thought Josiah and Marjorie were the cutest couple, however, they are both pretty young. I hope they both go on to mature, learn and grow as individuals, then who knows maybe love will come back around for a second chance. Good luck to them both. Miss the show!!
ReplyDeleteGod says not to murder he says nothing about killing. He has called many many Godly men to kill many many ungodly people. God is a God of love but he is also dangerous in a very very good way.
ReplyDelete"The most dangerous man on earth is the man who has reckoned with his own death. All men die; few men ever really live.”
― John Eldredge, Wild at Heart: Discovering the Secret of a Man's Soul
I posted a similar comment -- but my comments seem to get screened out, although they are not offensive or insulting. My point was to ask what's the difference between courtship and dating. Semantics, it seems to me. Broken hearts and hurt feelings can happen in each. I don't understand the insistence on calling it a courtship. Dating is not a dirty word.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the Josh issues got her parents rethinking whether they wanted their daughter involved with the Duggar family. Just a possibility. I would, if it were my daughter.
ReplyDeleteStay true
ReplyDeleteDATING.
ReplyDeleteI am so sad that they broke up, they were cute and seemed to be good for eachother. But I respect that they are following God's will for each of their lives.
I'm really very sorry for any hurt or disappointment that either Josiah or Marjorie are going through at this time. Ending a relationship is never easy and I know it must be a painful time for them right now. I know a few couples who have had broken courtships or engagements. Although it was very sad at the time, later they were able to look back and see God's hand in their situation and realize it was a blessing after all. Eventually they found the right one that the Lord had waiting for them. Focus your eyes on the Lord and He will give you the good gifts He has in store for you!
ReplyDeleteIs everyone going to blame Josh for everything? Please
ReplyDeletePeople watching the show is different from absorbing the content. Please people!
She's wearing pants
ReplyDeleteI think all of the same things done during "courtship" can also be done during "dating." When my husband and I dated, we were around each others' families and friends quite often. The one difference seems to be that in courtship, the couple is not allowed to spend any alone time, even at a restaurant, which I think it important for two people deciding if they have a future together.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if this is the first Duggar courtship to end. I had read that Josh was in a courtship before Anna.
ReplyDeleteGuns do not kill people, why be at odds?
ReplyDeleteDo you have knives in your kitchen? Those have been used to kill people....
Cars, airplanes, prescription drugs, dogs....these things too have killed people.
The list goes on. Be careful how much you are drawn in to the media's plight against firearms.
@ 52
ReplyDeleteGood point!! so true!! :-)
Just curious and I know this is off subject, but does anyone know anything about Anna's labor and delivery ?
ReplyDeleteWish them the best in both their futures and glad they made this choice now instead of continuing something that would be turn out the best for either of them.
ReplyDeleteThey are both so very young and with today's pressures and responsibilities maybe shifting will help them grow and possibly return to each other another year.
They made a very wise choice for such a stage in their lives. May God lead them down the right paths for their futures.
How do we know that Josiah and Marjorie didn't give their "whole hearts" to each other. I imagine they're both pretty hurt right now (or at least one of them is).
ReplyDeletewhy post a picture of them together if they are no longer a couple? I hope Jana or John David find someone next. It must be hard to be the older sibling and see many of your younger siblings getting married.
ReplyDelete#3 Guns are for protection and hunting food when needed as well. Not just killing! What a poor statement.
ReplyDeleteI had tried to post a comment a couple of days ago but don't see it.I was so disappointed to hear that Josiah and Marjorie broke up...yes they are young...but I felt good about it.'m sorry there have been so many bad comments...y'all don't deserve that.I am praying for y'all and hope to see you back on tv quickly.Your family has been a favorite show of mine always.A senior citiizen from NC.God bless!
ReplyDeleteI know breakups are difficult but this only means that God has other plans for these young people.
ReplyDeleteGod blESS THEM FOR SEEKING THE LORD"S WILL .
ReplyDeleteI'd like to hear more about Jinger, Joy, Jed, Jer, and Jason.
ReplyDeleteI just dont feel any of us have the right to judge ! Dont worry when we leave this earth we Will. Be judged! Dont hit them when their down !!
