Josiah Duggar, 18, entered a courtship with Marjorie Jackson (click here for a picture), 17, on April 6th. Here are a few facts about this impressive young woman:

As I have said, my grandkids, Maddison Sky and Ryan Lee, who are 10 and 6... love watching with me. I personally want to thank all of you for sharing strong values and morals. Following through with those values and morals. This country, sadly, has gone down hill. Keeping politics out of it. My daughter says this is the most cleanest TV program and prefers they watch it over some Disney program. What it does for me... it gives me that chance to talk to my grandkids about your values and morals that they see. This is a choice that you make, and not an easy choice, but you take steps to follow through with that choice. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. ReplyDeleteJosiah let Marjorie finish her schooling and graph design studies before you get engaged. I know it is temping to rush into things. Use this time to get to know each other properly and build a good solid foundation so don't rush into things even if you know it is right - timing is everything. Michaella Bates and Brandon Kellen are a good example of this. And though they are older than you they have used wisdom and have taken their time - not because they aren't right for each other or want to be together but because they know they both have to be ready in other ways such as finishing schooling first. Getting your priorities right like Michaella and Brandon have done will set you up for life. Wishing you both the best as you get to know each other in courtship.

It would be such a blessing if they would allow you to post those questions on here for others. I, personally, am in that situation right now, and have no clue where to go from here. It would be such a blessing for them to share it, but in the same way it is very personal and they might be ridiculed because of it by people who don't share the same beliefs. However, there is a short list in the Duggar girls' book about what to look for in a husband.

ReplyDeleteTo some commenters.......thet have not announced an engagement but that they are 'dating' , which could very well go for a year or more before an engagement if it's Gods plan. They are not too young to date and get to know each other.

ReplyDeleteCourtship does not mean marriage. It's similar to dating, I think. So I wouldn't think they are too young to get to know each other. If it happens, that would be awesome. They will find out through this if they are right for each other.

I hope the parents will encourage them to wait until they are out of their teen years Ben is quite young to make such a life changing decision. That being said, I am a big fan of the Duggars and thankful for their stand on family values, faith, and joy in committed marriage that is not often seen on TV and movies. Love you guys!!!

DeleteShe has been the oldest at home since Josh moved. She's the second oldest. I think I read somewhere that she is content being at home and is continuing to pray for her future spouse.
