Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard in Nepal, November 2013 |
Towards the end of Derick's time in Nepal, Jim Bob encouraged him to begin getting to know Jill via Skype, texting, and snail mail. Then in November 2013, the Duggar dad took his daughter to meet Derick in Nepal, and Jill and Derick officially began courting. Derick returned home to Northwest Arkansas in early 2014. He and Jill were saddened to hear about the earthquake that devastated the nation of Nepal on Saturday. For those looking to donate money or stay updated on relief efforts, Derick recommends an organization called Baptist Global Response.

ReplyDeleteDidn't know you went to OSU, Derick. I thought about you two when I first heard about the terrible quake. My heart and prayers go out to all involved.
ReplyDeleteReally wanted to hear Derick's works on this, not something written for him.
ReplyDeleteI'm remembering all those sweet people we saw on the 19K&C episode where Jill goes to Nepal to meet Derick- the midwife, the jeweler, the barber the waiter...does Derick know if they are safe. Praying for them and all those effected in Nepal. Thank you for this info.
ReplyDeleteI have thought of you Derick, ever since I heard of the earthquake. (And of course you too Jill). I am sure this must be very hard on you especially after spending 2 years of your life in that area, helping so many of those people. Sending many prayers to everyone in Nepal. And to You, Jill, and that precious baby boy!. God Bless your beautiful family!
ReplyDeleteFrom Christopher, Age 11: I am glad that you and Jill were not there when it happened. We are praying for you and any friends you have there. Blessings to Baby Dilly.
ReplyDeleteThe first thing he said when he heard about the earthquake was how happy he was you were not there. The enormity of what happened escapes him. I'm glad for that. Praying for you all.
Emily

ReplyDeleteAre you going over to help?
DeleteHe has a new baby and a wife, most likely still recuperating. So I'd say no.
DeleteMy Aunt and Uncle are part of an art group that was in Nepal. They were on the border of Nepal and Tibet. We heard from them after the initial earthquake, but nothing since the second one. Please prayer for their health and safety and that they will be found soon.
ReplyDeleteWhat happened in Nepal was very sad. :( What took the Dillards so long to make statement about it? This must be very difficult for them.
ReplyDeletePrayers and encouragement to all of those affected by the devastating earthquake in Nepal!
ReplyDeleteWorld Vision and Oxfam are also two great organizations that do excellent relief work regardless of politics and religious traditions of the countries in need.
ReplyDeleteIf Derick and Jill do go on a mission trip, I hope that TLC will cover it. I would love to see a show that focused on the two of them as missionaries. That would be really interesting. I really enjoy your show a lot. I hope each of the children finds their way to happiness in life and follow each one. Thank you for making Christians "cool" !!
ReplyDeleteThank you for using your fame to bring attention to this cause. The people of nepal need all the help they can get right now. Keep up the great work and do everything in your power to fundraise. Thank you Derrick and Jill!
ReplyDeleteI believe that picture was November of 2013 not 2014. Jill and Derick were married and pregnant in November of 2014 and this is the first time they met in person!
ReplyDeleteYou mentioned a Baptist church to donate funds but what about items? I was looking at CNN and it mentions that they need tents over there. I have two large tents in my garage that I have not used and that I could donate but I don't know where or how to do so.
ReplyDeleteThe photo was taken in 2013 :)
