The Duggars
have another big announcement to make! On Monday, April 6th, the same day that Jill and Derick
Dillard welcomed Israel David Dillard into the world, Josiah Duggar began a
courtship with 17-year-old Marjorie Jackson.
Josiah met
Marjorie a few years ago while taking Spanish lessons from her mother and was
impressed by her interaction with her siblings and her love for God.
Will the

ReplyDeleteYEAH!!!!! I am so excited for him, Josiah has always been my favorite and all the speculations of his absence was worrying for a bit, now he's back. What a lucky gal, he is a wonderful man with a great personality :-) I am just so thrilled for him, however I do hope they wait for marriage until she at least turns 18.

ReplyDeleteThe girl is just that a girl at 17 years of age. Too young to be getting into such a serious relationship and thinking of marriage yet. I think if it lasts it will take a minimum of 2 or 3 years before going further than dating/courtship.

ReplyDeleteI think that is fantastic, any one marrying into the Duggar family will be truly blessed. I wish my marriage could have been that blessed but a month after my moms death , my husband informed me of 39 years that he was seeing some else, it ripped my heart out and I stayed with him for another 6 years!! But I know GOD has sent me to where I am now, living with my son and his wife and my grandson who is 3 in another city. I am much happier now and healthier, GOD has a plan for me!!! May GOD bless you all, I love watching your show!!!

ReplyDeleteHe is quite young. 18? I thought I would be Jana, John, Jinger or possibly Joseph. But Josiah is not that much older than me. And Marjorie is my age. Hope they go slow. The don't need to be married yet. thought courtship is for when you are older.

Anyway I hope they don't rush things. It amazes me how he was "impressed by her relationship with her siblings and love of God" he can admit she was pretty haha.

ReplyDeleteJosiah has always seemed like such a great young man and I have no doubt Marjorie is a lovely young lady. But why the rush to court and get married? They both need time to mature and experience life more independent of their families. They should establish a means of supporting themselves either by furthering their education or acquiring skills and jobs, on their own.

ReplyDeleteAren't they pretty young to be committing to marriage? Where I live 17 is still legally under child services jurisdiction and even 18 is quite young to be looking at getting married. This worries me. Josh just spent an entire year at the ALERT academy, I think a kid at 18 needs time to find out who they are as a person before they commit to a serious courtship so young. Not saying it can't work but what's the rush? Are the parents really supportive of rushing this?

Despite the fact that those two are probably more prepared for marriage than most American couples I can foresee a slough of negative comments coming because of their age. We 'dated' for 3 months, got engaged 4 days before my 18th birthday & married 3 months later. We had lots of negative comments but our parents supported us, knowing we were ready & now years later people who at first criticized us are now commending us on our marriage as others around us who married later have already split up. It's not about age it's about understanding marriage is a commitment for life for better or WORSE & sticking at it through the hard times.

Aww, this is very exciting news!! All the best to you both, Josiah and Marjorie!!! I'm sure God has lots in store for you, and a lot to learn about each other! May you blessed during this special time, and don't be discouraged if people say, "you're too young!", because, obviously you are old enough to make your own decisions and I'm sure you are ready. Besides, it doesn't mean they're going to get married right away anyhow (that is, if it's God's will for them to marry)! =)

ReplyDeleteThough young indeed-I do believe the Parents have done a good job teaching their children first of all to put the Lord first always and in preparing them for lIfe. They are all very smart and kind as well as polite and how to treat others. I think these are some of the most well behaved children I've ever seen. I know a lot of people have negative things to say on a daily basis about these kiddos but I do think they are all good kids with huge hearts and I wish this young couple nothing but wonderful blessings to come their way. I have watched them on TV since the very first special aired and having three children of my own its very clear how well raised they all are. For most parents, teenage involvements are discouraged. Spiritual and emotional maturity, self sufficiency through college, trade schools, apprenticeships, life experiences are all mainstays of the Christian adult population tuning in to this
