ReplyDeleteWhen you do decided to get married are you going to take a pre married classes that is 12 week long with books to read and work book and video to watch. And that is a Christian class.

ReplyDeleteWell she is surprisingly confident for 16/17! She has quite the bubbly personality too. Since Josiah is so quick witted and outgoing, she seems like a good match. Looks like she will enjoy being in the public eye. Really enjoyed Josh's sit down chat with Josiah. I have long sensed that these two have a good connection. They are both outgoing, have a good sense of humor, and seem to appreciate each other.

ReplyDeleteI hope when Jana, John, and Joseph go into relationship mode that they have a little space. These three are not as comfortable with the spotlight and I suspect might appreciate more privacy. But who knows, maybe they are all so accustomed to the camera it would not matter to them. Such a peculiar thing really, growing up in front of a camera. I wonder to what extent the crew and the public have effectively influenced and shaped the family members. At this point it would probably be as strange to them to live private lives as it would be to most of their fans to live public lives. I hope the show and all the subsequent celebrity will not have an adverse effect on any of the family in the long run.
ReplyDeleteI've seen in pictures that she wears jeans. Will she be able to continue to do this? Also, if she is into musical theater, that means dancing. The Duggars are anti-dancing-- does she also have to give this up or will one of the dates be Josiah accompanying her to a Broadway show like Wicked? Will the Duggars come see her if she is in one of her community theater musical productions or will that end too?

ReplyDeleteWhich is something I disagree with, I am for Jinger she at least acknowledges that she is not strong on personality and is still a Christian woman.
I'd like to understand what's wrong with dating and why these kids are encouraged to start courting so young. Dating can be purposeful as well. If they're concerned about not dating so as to guard their hearts, courtships can be broken off just like dating relationships and maybe even more painfully since it seems that courtship is just another word for pre-engagement. I think the Duggars are great, but as a Christian myself, I'd like to understand more of their peculiar rules a bit better.

May you both allow Christ to guide your relationship & then you both will know what is right in your relationship with each other. Many people want to impart their own ideas to you both, just remember to take what is of Christ to heart & what isn't, simply let it go. Congratulations on your courting relationship.

ReplyDeleteSeems to me that the Duggars should be very careful about courtships with their children, and marriages. With 19 kids and each subsequent married partner, there is a huge potential for problems if any of those partners turn against them. They are part of the Duggar"brand" and could create big problems if they were ever to become resentful of Michelle and Jim Bob. I hope that doesn't happen but I 'd want to be careful to not damage the image they have worked so hard to put out publicly. (trusting that someone at 17 is a good fit for marriage seems kind of risky, even the royal family knows better than that.

Marjorie -- If you're comfortable in jeans, then go for it. Don't conform to the strict Duggar rules about anything unless that's where God leads YOU. Be yourself. God doesn't care if you wear jeans or a skirt or have long wavy hair or short hair.

response to Anonymous # 45..I think you are thinking more of the Kardashian family when you say things like "brand" and "damage the image". The Duggar family are Christians and are very careful who they select to enter a courtship with. They don't casually pick someone to go out on dates with. I don't see any "huge potential for problems" of spouses "turning against them" because as Christians they make God the focus of their relationship.
ReplyDeleteThese kids have allowed to grow up and, unlike many in this generation, accept responsibility so they are more mature for their age than most. I love the courtship as opposed to dating because ALL of the physical stuff is put on hold so that a relationship can be solidly formed. I think they make a cute couple and I look forward to watching them grow as a team.
