19 Kids and Counting "Invites and Ride-Alongs"
- Michelle spends quality time with John-David and learns how to operate an excavator and a dump truck. "John-David is very patient, and he is a good instructor," says the mom of 19, who makes a point to spend one-on-one time with each of her kids.
- Jinger says John is steady, quiet, and easy-going. Michelle calls him tenderhearted.
- Jessa and Ben ask Josh, who does graphic design as a hobby, to design their wedding invitations. Josh agrees. While he works, Mackynzie and Michael design their own invitations using construction paper and colored Popsicle sticks. Josh sends a few options to the future Mr. and Mrs. Seewald, and they select their favorite.
- Jill prepares dessert and a care package for Derick's mom, Cathy, who is going to Omaha, Nebraska, for five weeks of treatment that will hopefully prevent her cancer from returning. (Update: Cathy is doing very well, and her doctors say her healing is nothing short of a miracle.)
- Constable John-David takes Jim Bob on a ride-along in his police car. "We'll see if my dad follows the rules," says John. In case you are wondering, a constable is a police officer with less authority and a smaller jurisdiction than a sheriff. John-David was sworn in as constable in January 2013.
- John-David stops to help an officer who has pulled someone over in a gas station parking lot. He instructs Jim Bob to stay in the car, but the Duggar dad slips out and buys food at the convenience store.
- "It looks like you got out of the car," says John, jokingly. "We've got to keep our strength up," responds Jim Bob, holding a package of donuts and two bottles of Gatorade.
- The ride-along turns out to be uneventful, but Jim Bob enjoys spending time with his son.
19 Kids and Counting "Wedding Prep and Pies"
- Michelle helps Jason and James make pies (also called casseroles) that they hope receive Jessa and Ben's stamp of approval for the rehearsal dinner. "Jason and James, their cooking style is more for survival," says Michelle. "It's not for appearance of the food..."
- "The pies that Jason and James made were amazing," says Jessa.
- In Washington D.C., Josh prepares egg sandwiches for his family. Then, the Duggar dad takes Mackynzie and Michael to a nearby music store for their first music lessons.
- Mackynzie is thrilled to learn to play her tiny violin, and Michael smiles as he has his first piano lesson. Afterwards, the kids enjoy trying out a drum set.
- Ben is designing a wedding band for Jessa that he will surprise her with on their wedding day. He takes the sketches to White's Jewelry, and Jinger brings Jessa's engagement ring. "When it's all finished, I can't wait to see her face when I slide it on her finger," says Ben.
- Later, the Duggar girls head to Flowerama, a local flower shop. Jessa admits she doesn't know much about flowers. "Jessa doesn't really have a plan just yet for her flowers," says Jana.
- The employees at Flowerama show the Duggars how to make bouquets. "Our parents have encouraged us to gain as many life skills as we can," says Jessa.
- The little girls especially enjoy blowing into the flowers to make them open up.
- "These last moments together as sisters are kind of bittersweet," says Jana. "We are definitely cherishing these moments and just enjoying making these memories together before Jessa gets married."
I thought there was supposed to be a big announcement today?!! I was waiting anxiously all day! What was the announcement?
ReplyDeleteI really love how both episodes paid homage to John David.I think it would be nice if they profiled a different child each week so we can get to know them all better. I really enjoyed tonights episodes.
ReplyDeleteDid I miss the big announcement? I didn't get to see the last 3 minutes of the show or next week's previews, and I don't recall seeing the announcement that they have been warning us about on tonight's episode.
ReplyDeleteI love the show! However I have a burning question....why has Jill not been part of ANY of Jessa's wedding preparations?! Jessa was along for all of her's, and it seems strange that Jill has not been involved in any of it. Just wondering....
ReplyDeleteMichelle I am writiting in reference to a statement that was made by your new son-in-law about trying to run over a cat with his sled. Is this true?? I know the media exaggerates a lot of things, so I am hoping this is not true. I would hope that he has respect for all life and not try to hurt this animal. I do not expect a response but would pray that in my heart Derick Dillard would not do something like that and neither would a Duggar.
ReplyDeleteSadly it is true. I too thought the media probably hyped it up into something it really wasnt and in the end watched the clip to judge for
Deletemyself. Derick had metres of space
either side of the path of the cat but chose to aim for the cat. Maybe he
thought the cat would jump away at
the last minute? However the cat
was oblivious and got hit to the
handful of duggars brief amusement. Not Dericks best moment I guess.
In my Christian faith, I have learned not to desire fasle relationships. This meaning that I will wait until the Lord places the right person in my life. Watching the Duggar children, as they begin their courtships, has really taught me what important qualities I should seek in a Christian husband. During this particular episode of "19 Kids and Counting," I was really impressed with John-David and how his family supports him. While I won't be meeting John-David anytime soon (living in Canada), I really respect his faith, commitment to the Lord, and his servant's heart. I know now that there are men who have these precious qualities and I will not settle for anything less than what God has for me.
ReplyDeleteFrom a girls perspective, it is nice to hear from Michelle, Anna, Jill, Jess, Jana, Jinger...
While we can learn a lot from other ladies, it is important to see courageous men serving the Lord.
Thank you (Duggar Family/TLC) for sharing more about the men as well.
It was so nice to see John-David. He is a favorite of many of us because he (like Jana, Joe, JInger, Josiah, Jeremiah, Jed, James, Jenny and Jordyn) simply aren't shown as much as we'd like.it is so nice to see something besides courtship, proposal, weddings and all the same ol same ol of a pregnancy. Those are common everyday things tons of us do. We need to see something interesting if we are going to stay tuned.
ReplyDeleteSo cute of jordyn and Jenny at the florist. I missed a tiny bit of the show so wondered if 'Jill went to help Jessa pick out the flowers.
ReplyDeleteJim Bob disrespected John David when John told dad to stay in police car, I would think that John David could get in trouble for having his dad and some siblings in police car just for ride alongs?
ReplyDeleteWhat is the mixer that Jill used to make the cheesecake with? I really liked it and would like to buy one. Thanks in advance and God blesd
ReplyDeleteIts a Bosch and they cost between $399-$459.
DeleteHere is a link to the mixer:

Hi, do you know if there is anywhere we can watch these online? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI have to say that I found Jim-Bob's getting out of the car while John-David was assisting another officer to be hugely disrespectful of son's professional capacity. I absolutely get the donut joke but anyone doing a ride along with a constable/officer should know better than to get out during a stop.

ReplyDeleteThanks sooooo muck for posting recaps I don't have TV so this way I can kinda watch them!! :-)
Many of us miss Josiah. Is he ok?
ReplyDeleteI am so happy TLC has this shpw! I love this show, I hope young families are learning how to raise a respectful, happy, well-educated, fun, child! I have to tell you what I dislike is waiting a full WEEK for another show! What happens if any of the Duggar Children end up marrying a real loser, can they get a divorce? What happens if a Duggar marries someone on the outside of their tight circle?
ReplyDeleteHi Readers,
ReplyDeleteThe Duggars made their announcement a day early. Josh and Anna revealed the gender of their 4th child. It's a girl! Here is the link to the post: http://www.duggarfamilyblog.com/2015/03/29-duggars-and-counting.html.
Blessings,
Lily and Ellie
@ Anonymous. Derick did not run over the cat. I saw the video, people are exploding over nothing! When he was going down the hill a cat was at the bottom but it got out of the way before Derick got too close. No harm was done. Derick obviously knew the cat would move. =) hope this clears things up.
ReplyDeleteDo the duggars think its ok to hurt or frighten animals?
ReplyDelete@nataliaJim Bob is my absolute favorite Duggar and tonight he was a crack up! Loved the episodes. And john David is great. He's funny, handsome, sweet, gentle and competent. He'll be a great catch for a lucky girl.
ReplyDeleteDitto to that... and I CONCUR :-)
DeleteHoping the episode will be posted to Youtube soon, thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteI doubt that Derick woke up that morning planning to run over a cat with a sled. In the moment, he made a poor decision not to take a different path down the hill. I bet he felt terrible about it too. What is even worse, the Duggar kids laughed about it. Let them spend some time at a rescue center caring for abandoned pets. Yes, I know they already feed strays. And since Derick is a public personality who set a bad precident, planned or not, I think he should apologize for his lapse in judgement asap and get on with his life and growing family.

ReplyDeleteHi Anonymous 11,
The episodes are available for purchase on Amazon US, iTunes, and Google Play.
Blessings,
Lily and Ellie
Maybe Derick didn't intent to harm the cat. But he married a Duggar girl and is a reality star now wether he likes it or not. Thus he has do think twice before posting anything. At the other hand the Duggars often showed their indifference towards animals.
ReplyDeleteSweet Family.
ReplyDeleteHi Lily and Ellie,
ReplyDeleteJosh had designed the wedding invitations for both Jill and Jessa.I was wondering if you have an example of Josh and Anna's wedding invitation. I saw one of Jim Bob and Michelle from years ago and both the girls but i'm curious of Josh and Anna's invitation.
Thank you in advance, love the site.
Greetings from Holland
Why would Jessa need any more "help". Jill does not live there anymore. They have their own families. It seems she has dozens of people at their disposal for help. Almost every decision I made for my wedding included the groom, we were all by ourself except for the dress where I took my family. If there were 12 sisters involved I would have told them to stay home and just had the moms come.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand how law enforcement works there. It's a little scary. Are you a cop or not?
Why must Jim Bob do these things?
In smaller towns where there is little risk, I've can have civilians on "ride alongs". Jim Bob should have been more serious about this because every traffic stop has the potential to go horribly wrong. The civilian is suppose to stay in the vehicle, don't touch the equipment, and listen to the officer they are with. I believe there are also waivers the police station require for liability issues
DeleteTo kms- A constable can be elected or appointed. Oversight, training and responsibilities can vary among the states that have them, however they are not required to have post-secondary professional law enforcement certification or degree. They do not have the same authority as a sheriff, state patrol or professional police officer and their jurisdiction is limited. I agree, it does sound a bit scary... for the constable and the citizens.
ReplyDeleteTo those who are wondering about Jill not being involved in Jessa's wedding planning, I believe much of it has to do with the severe morning sickness that accompanied the early stages of her pregnancy. When I was pregnant, I had severe morning sickness/hyperemesis. There were days I couldn't get out of bed. Michelle did advise Jill to take things easy and rest when she needed to do so. I could be wrong (and I apologize if I am), but I'm thinking that Jill's morning sickness played a part in her not being as involved as she otherwise would be. God bless you! Your sister in Christ, Kristin.
ReplyDeleteIs there a recipe for the pies that the boys made? Please and thank you.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen them show indifference towards animals. I've seen them rescue many kittens out of the walls of Stoneybrook and bottle feed them by hand.
