ReplyDeleteI don't know why they invite thousands of people. Most guests are no way as well off and the prospect of attending so many weddings and the cost to go and the gift seem prohibited. How can they be so close to so many people and still be close enough for a wedding invite.
People seem to forget that most of the Duggars friends have very large families, Sooooooo therefore that adds up pretty quickly, they are a very social family with LOTS of friends.
DeleteBut how close can they possibly be to that many people. It is more a problem for the guests as they have to journey in large vehicles and come up with a number of gifts. How much can they interact with the family with so many there? There are massive size weddings in other cultures where there are 1-2 kids in the family. Sometimes you miss much by having things too large. The wedding doesn't have to be big cause the family is large. It's about the couple and God.

My Aunt and family (9 kids) would carefully save/re-use gift wrapping paper by not tearing open the gifts. Do the Duggars do anything like that? Just curious!!

ReplyDeleteWe paid about 6.000 including dress, rings EVERYTHING! And we had about 400 guests and a super big buffet for food. But we are incredibly blessed with our church who covers lots of the costs when church members marry.

DeleteMost "average" weddings start at $20-30 thousand for 100 guests or so. SO MUCH MONEY WASTED on "one day" ... you should celebrate the marriage not the wedding.

ReplyDeleteJessa totally reminds me of me when I planned my wedding. Once I had the man, the church and the dress I really didn't care much about the rest of the details. Ha ha, I thought I was the only one who was like that - glad to know I'm not!

I agree. This is what Brides should focus on, wardrobe, dresses, mens clothes, photos, and flowers /bbouquet what you really look back on are the pictures and that is what's hanging on the wall. Evem Princess Diana (20 years later said) she would have went with a different dress. Bit fashions change. However, Middleton dress will last thr ages Grace Kelly's? Amd even Ferries could last today. Wedding dress most important pick. Since Duggars don't do garter I guess shoes don't matter

ReplyDeleteI find this shocking an disappointing. I thought they were a frugal family and even with the large amount of siblings, I think having 100 or people or even less, is very doable and very affordable. Plus, I've never heard of church rental costs. If they didn't have so many people they could stick with pot luck type friendly donations from the ladies of the church community.
