Duggars Respond to Kissing Controversy

Have you seen Jessa and Ben's black and white kissing photo? The picture was taken four days after the couple's wedding and immediately went viral.

Jessa and Ben Seewald

This afternoon, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar released the following statement:

God designed marriage to be a loving, dynamic relationship between a husband and wife for a lifetime. God loves marriage and it is supposed to be full of love, joy, fun and romance. Marriage is where romance belongs! Recently, Ben & Jessa received some criticism for posting a kissing picture. We are so grateful they waited to share their first kiss until after marriage. We’ve been married 30 years and are still in love! We had fun trying to duplicate Ben and Jessa's happily married kissing picture.

What are your thoughts on the issue?

  3. not sure why this is a big deal.. it is what it is.

  4. Good for you! 2 young newly weds kissing, there is nothing wrong with that. They wanted to after they where married to have there 1st kiss. Most 12yrs old are doing more then that, give this family a break and let them enjoy kissing four days after being married. I love watching your show with my young girls and teaching them the same values of life. <3

  6. who cares. what business is it of anyone if they want to post the pic.

  7. Congratulations to Ben and Jessa! Happy to see they are so in love! There is absolutely nothing wrong with a married couple sharing a kiss.

  8. As long as you are married, you may kiss. Just don't be gross when you do. Ben and Jessa are just proclaiming their love. Josh, Anna, Derick, and Jill all did the same, why criticize one couple?

    ReplyDelete
  9. why is what the Duggar's do such a big deal.. We all have our ways of doing things

    ReplyDelete
  10. The picture was tasteful and lovely. I appreciate them being real. Any criticism was hypocritical and silly!

  11. These are just beautiful photos of couples expressing their love for each other, what is wrong in showing the love you have for each other don't let others spoil your expressions of affection.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Love this! I commend Michele and Jim Bob for doing this :)

    ReplyDelete
  13. Love the photos! Loving your husband is nothing to be ashamed of.

    ReplyDelete
  14. People have an issue about this? Do they really have nothing better to do than to complain about a married couple kissing?

    ReplyDelete
  15. They are two happily married couples there is nothing wrong with these pics I don't understand why people are making such a big deal out of these pics!

    ReplyDelete
  16. I love it. You are married and have a right to do what you choose. I am so happy for them

  17. I THINK IT IS Wonderful...I would love to kiss my hubby again....he passed in 1988....we kissed all the time...lol

    ReplyDelete
  18. I agree...my husband and I have been married for 24 years...we have 5 children...we kiss and hug all the time!

  19. I don't see why Jessa and Ben were criticized, they are married and adults and I am so glad that the Duggar family (including their married children's spouses: Anna, Derick, and Ben) are such wonderful role models and examples. I think Jessa and Ben's black and white kissing photo is beautiful. You can see the love they have for each other. <3 God bless your entire family.

  20. LOVE IT!!!!! they stuck to their beliefs and now let love shine!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Love it and your family! You are an inspiration to us all! :)

  22. Why are Jim Bob & Michelle duplicating their daughter's first kiss???? For a family that is very modest (and rightfully so), they sure kiss a lot in public which isn't modest. Why do we all need to see them kiss. I know couples very much in love that keep their kissing in private.

    ReplyDelete
  23. It is an sweet picture of love. They waited until they were married to share that moment together how can anyone say anything negative about them sharing a kiss as man and wife. Nothing wrong with it. Many many years of happiness to all of you! Since she did not share a kiss at the alter but in private it shows an even more sweet spirit between them, and it is just that between them. They are both adults and married. Come on people let them enjoy their new life together, they only need to answer to God and I can safely say He is well pleased with both of them. :)

  24. These pictures are beautiful! And the way Jessa handled this just shows what a Godly young lady you all have raised! Jessa and Ben and michelle and jim Bob-well done! Jessa and Ben try to enjoy your new marriage! Kerp the Godly outlook on this! You all are truely a inspiration. God Bless your family! Valerie

  25. It's amazing to me how critical people can be about a family they don't know. Ben & Jessa are like any other newlyweds. They are excited, in love & happy. Jim Bob has never been shy about how much he loves Michelle...after 30 years of marriage for them to be just as in love as they were on day one is something special. Kiss away Duggars & Seewalds! Kiss away!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Share away....shame on people for giving grief bout a kissing pic but can post half naked photos n so on....kisses kisses kisses

  27. God has been brought much glory through the Duggar family. Satan appears to be greatly disturbed by this and is causing a tremendous amount of strife regarding this innocent matter. Continue forward, friends... you are each a great witness for Christ :)

    ReplyDelete
  28. This a beautiful picture of a couple in love. If this is the only thing someone can find to criticize they need to get a life.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Hum, they are kissing, they are married, what is the big deal!

    ReplyDelete
  30. We are happily married after 32 years. We started dating when we were 15! Thank gosh for romance!!! Keep it up. It is so healthy to show your children there is romance. Long after the kids grow up and move out (which is our job to do and make them independent) you will have your spouse. I'm praying my husband will be there holding my hand as we watch yet another sunset.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I am so happy for your family. You are raising and have raised wonderful moral christian individuals. Something that is being lost in our culture today sadly. Its very encouraging to see there are others that are willing to live against the norm of society and hold themselves to a higher standard. God bless you and your beautiful family!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I love love love you Jim Bob and Michelle and good for Jessa and Ben they are so in love. That kiss will forever hold for them wonderful memories and it should not be the negative ones either. God bless you all!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I would give anything to be able to kiss my husband again but I can't as he passed away on the 22nd of October 2014. Four days before our 23rd wedding anniversary he had been by my side for almost 30 years. So it's wonderful to see a couple still in love after 30 years. If you have nothing nice to say then don't say anything at all.

    ReplyDelete
  34. There is no "issue" ! Leave them be. I find it hilarious and great that her parents duplicated the picture. people do put worse photos of themselves online !

    ReplyDelete
  35. Nice kisses. Practice makes...life together...fun!:-)

    ReplyDelete
  36. I agree Michelle and Jim Bob!!! Well said!! They're happily married and they're doing exactly what they should, loving one another!! The critics are just looking to stir up trouble. They waited long enough for their first kiss, enjoy!

    ReplyDelete
  37. May I make a sincere suggestion? To make the Duggar family photos look more pleasing to the eye, please consider changing the 3 couples' photo to their wedding shot: Josh&Anna...Derick&Jill....and Ben&Jessa. It would be so lovely. But thank you for your blog...I enjoy it very much :)

    ReplyDelete
  38. This world will always be hostile to any concept that encourages godliness. I for one love to see you living these principles in your lives, and being courageous enough to do it in such a public forum. We need more voices like yours in our culture.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I love that after having 19 kids and married for 30 years that you clearly still love each other very much! Let the haters continue to hate....they don't understand because they follow a different set of rules. A set that clearly isn't working since the majority of people either end up divorced or miserably married. Thank you for your witness!

    ReplyDelete
  40. On your show you have always shown the world how you feel about Michele with public display of affection by Kissing her in front of the camera. Jessa and Ben have done nothing different. They are a beautiful couple just as their parents are and I love how you responded to the disrespectful criticism of them.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Oh my goodness people get a life you really don't need to worry about a married couples kiss it was sweet and beautiful
Way to go Ben & Jessa and Jim Bob & Michelle
Kiss on I say and God Bless

  42. Love it!!!!!!!!!! :)

  43. So the fact that people have a problem with this is just so funny. First, they criticize the standards the Duggars set and then when they post a picture of them kissing after they are married, there is a problem. What struck me even more, was that any night you can turn on the TV and find some actor/actresses making out, or worse as part of a story line with someone they have no commitment or attachment to and people have no problem with that?!?!. I love seeing Godly live stories and seeing how love looks with a marriage relationship.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Folks should leave the newlyweds alone. They're no longer courting, they're married. They can kiss all they want.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Good for you! It's heartwarming to see a couple work so well together and be so much in love after so many years. My husband and I are coming up on 10 years, which sadly, is rarely seen these days!

    ReplyDelete
  48. I find nothing wrong with Ben,and Jessa's photo, its 2 people in love and married people need to get a grip

    ReplyDelete
  49. Y'all need to leave the Duggars alone. These marriages are a Covent with Gods blessing. It says in the good book, the Bible " touch not his anointed". Y'all need to get a grip and focus on the real issue of salvation. God bless the Duggars.

  50. I absolutely agree Duggar family!! The only thing that is "controversial" is that society and media conform to the world's views rather than God's.
You guys are such an inspiration to me and to so many others. May God continue to bless each and every one of you!

  52. Way to go!!!! Marriage is about Love ,keep showing it.

    ReplyDelete
  53. It is beautiful!!!! Congrats to the happy couple(s)!!!!

  54. I think their family should be an inspiration to all families today, especially the way the world is. I love their show and love the values they have tried to in still in their children. I wish I would have taught my kids those type values. Don't get me wrong I was blessed with 2 wonderful children that have good family, and work ethic. But we should have put god in our lives more. Instead we were so busy we other activities. But trust me where I work I see so much bad in families, it's inspiring to see a large family with great morals and they have taught them to be self sufficient. I know a lot of kids that could use that in their lives.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I think it's these pictures are a beautiful testament to marriage and love. Your family is amazing, thanks for sharing with us.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Is this seriously an issue with people, that a newlywed couple has a photo of themselves kissing??!! The Duggars are ana amazing family and I wish them all the best

    ReplyDelete
  57. Children learn by parental example, what a Blessing to see how in love Jim Bob & Michelle are after all these years. If all the Duggar children follow in their parents Footsteps , there should be lots of happy marriages in the future. How cool are they to support the kids this way! Love both photos.Sorry your Family has to hear criticism & negativity from those that have obviously lied on Ben & Jessa!!!! May God continue to Bless you All!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  58. It's just a kiss. Much ado about nothing.

    ReplyDelete
  59. It's a beautiful picture!!!!!! What could be controversial???? Young married love is a precious gift!

    ReplyDelete
  60. Jessa and Ben have very strong chemistry and that makes it even more commendable that they waited for romance until after they were married. That is very hard to do and most people with that much passion for each other do not restrain! What a wonderful example they were to young people, and I'm sure they relied on their faith in God to help them wait. I think very highly of this young couple and I'm SO excited that they get to love on each other as much as they want to! I think it's beautiful and I want to see more! Love, Amy Tucker

    ReplyDelete
  61. I see nothing wrong with it :) I am so happy for them and for jim bob and Michelle. I wished I could have been raised the way they are raising their kids. I found out so much stuff the hard and wrong way. I never had a marriage to look up too.

  62. GOOD FOR JB AND MICHELLE! AND GOOD FOR BEN AND JESSA!!!

    ReplyDelete
  63. I don't know why this was an issue, both photo's are beautiful.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Can't wait to see Jessa and Ben's wedding next season. To bad the seasons are so short. Love the pictures and there is nothing wrong with posting a kissing photo, it is a lot better than some of the pictures that get posted. Ben and Jessa are now married so why is it a problem that they post a picture of their love for each other? Love the whole family.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I believe you all are amazing . I love how you all support your children!

    ReplyDelete
  66. I think it's great that they waited and that they held their first kiss in private. The photo is beautiful. If more married couples did this maybe they would have something to look at and remember the love and with harder to keep and treasure it.

    ReplyDelete
  67. i want to know why, when Jessa and Ben got engaged, they did a frontal hug and nothing was ever mentioned about it. also, why do you keep updating your blog, long before the showing of what is to come, you actually ruin it for us who enjoy watching your show. to me your spoiling it my mentioning it on here long before it happens.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I think it's sweet that any married couple can show their love... if kissing is how they want to show it so what..

    ReplyDelete
  69. I love it taking the picture w a good idea. Shows they are on their children's side. :)

    ReplyDelete
  70. Why don't people leave them alone, it was just a kiss. I am very happy for both of you. Have a great life together.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Well said! I love the high standards you set for your children. I also love the positive character you show when negative press comes your way and always! Thank you for being such a positive example for families and for sharing your lives with us! God Bless!

    ReplyDelete
  72. Absolutely! I agree 100%! God did design marriage and for it to be loving. My husband and I have been married for almost 9 years and been together for almost 13 years and are also still very much in love! :)

    ReplyDelete
  73. I think it's awesome!! Unfortunately those criticizing probably didn't save their first kiss for after marriage!! Congrats Ben and Jessa!!!

    ReplyDelete
  74. You go, girl! I love it! PURE romance at its finest

    ReplyDelete
  75. I've always thought it is very important for the children to know & see that the parents love each other. Not in a nasty way of course, but kissing, holding hands, hugging - all natural signs that we love each other. Their young marriage, in turn, will hopefully follow suit. <3

    ReplyDelete
  76. I hope they leave all the newlywed couples along... They are just being married and happy .. Leave them alone..I am thankful God brought them together .... I am so proud of their morals and of Jim Bob and MIchelle, for the way they are raising their kids .. If more parents were like them then this would would be a better place. And young girls would not be having babies and people would not be living together .. That is a sin ...

    ReplyDelete
  77. works for me If people don't like it they shouldn't be viewing the site. And usually the ones who complain the loudest are just jealous - in my opinion

    ReplyDelete
  78. You go, girl! PURE romance at its finest.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Lovely pictures :) thank you for being a shining example in this crazy world of ours.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Well said! I can't believe people are up in arms over married people kissing! Did they really title this a "kissing controversy"? I can think of lots of other alarming things we need to be addressing! Congratulations to the newlyweds! God's blessings on the Duggars!

    ReplyDelete
  86. They are married!! Why would anytime that picture to be racy?!?!

    ReplyDelete
  87. Well put! It cannot be easy being under the constant pressure of the media! Love the duplicate picture, and truly admire you and your children for the choices you all have made!

  90. Congratulations Ben in Jessa! Enjoy your life together!

  91. Absolutely beautiful picture of a man and wife in love. Some people will find an issue with anything. Judge not less you be judged.

    ReplyDelete
  92. As long as they are happy and treat each other with respect & keep there faith God will be there to guide them. Congrats to them.

    ReplyDelete
  93. I agree with what Jim Bob and Michelle wrote. However, personally (and I mayn't be the only one?)- I find it awkward when couples kiss in front of me or hug. Plus - it can lead people to start thinking impure thoughts about that couple sleeping together, etc. I'm all for saving the first kiss for marriage (both my husband and I saved our first kiss for each other) - but I'd rather couples kiss when others are not around.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Right on Pa n' Ma Duggar.

    ReplyDelete
  95. I love the Duggars but either their values seemed to have changed this past year or it's the way their publicity team is depicting them. I was quite shocked to see that photo of Jessa and Ben. I'm the same age as Michelle Duggar and as a Mother I would hope to never see my children post private, intimate photos like that all over the internet. I'm not prude but I'm sure some may consider me one for my comments here but I just don't think it's appropriate and it sends the wrong message.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Haha good one Duggars!

  97. I believe that you have raised wonderful children. There is always going to be those that criticize. Thank You for having a show that is a joy to watch.

How would one go about being a prayer partner with someone in the family.

    God bless you all!

  101. ppl talk too much, if that was what they wanted then let it be. I love this family and christian values. they have taught me alot and I wish I would had done the same with my kids. The kiss is beautiful especially if they waited till marriage. God keep blessing this beautiful family.

  102. People need to get a life and leave these young adults alone! Congrats, Jessa and Ben!

    ReplyDelete
  103. Awesome pictures and response.

    ReplyDelete
  104. I think the picture is absolutely beautiful! God designed woman for man, to be his helper & soulmate. We are supposed to love one another, be attracted to one another, and express our love for one another. I have been married to my husband for 28 years we have been together almost 31 years. I love him, I am still attracted to him, and we still express our love for one another. A kiss, which both of these pictures show, is a beautiful way to express our love for one another. I commend your children for saving this special expression of affection for after marriage!

    ReplyDelete
  105. I think as a couple, it is their choice to make. Something as wonderful as a kiss between a married couple is so MUCH less shocking than many of the things we DO NOT care to see that are every where we look. I hope they continue to hold fast to their respect and continue to honor God in every thing they do.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Ahhhhh so sweet! If this pic is controversial then people have gone bonkers. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  107. At first I was kind of surprised that they posted such a sensual picture. Especially since they chose to kiss in private. But.... I think that Jessa does march to the beat of her own drummer and has found someone that's willing to go along for the ride. LOL. However the picture does not offend me at all. And I think that some people will find anything to pick on them. I posted on their Twitter that it would be cool if Anna and Josh & Jill and Derick would post their black and white kissing photos!!!

    ReplyDelete
  108. A kiss is a kiss, just like a rose. I think it is an expression of love between two people. These type of pictures capture a lovely moment in time.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Thank you all for your beautiful, radiant LOVE of Jesus that shines through every member of your family! I think the kissing photos are so sweet and precious! We are raising our children to remain pure and save themselves for marriage also! Thank you so much for the vibrant love of Jesus that shines through you all! You all are such examples of Jesus!

    ReplyDelete
  110. Jim Bob and Michelle I love how you two duplicated the photo. The photos you and your family posts are full of love, honesty, and joy. Your family means nothing more than goodness and love. No matter how famous you all became nothing seems to change along the lines of you all individually. God bless you all and pay no mind to the cruelty and evil in America today. No one is used to the traditional way of living. My husband and I are also trying to raise our children the traditional way and doing the home schooling as well, but my child attends online with a charter school. I view you and Jim bob as role models because I was truly not blessed as a child. Therefore, I want my children to have better moral values. God bless you all and I truly appreciate you sharing your values with the rest of us.

    Sincerely,
    Heather

  111. I don't understand what the controversy is about - it's their business, nobody else's! Leave them alone!!!

    ReplyDelete
  112. I think it's great that they have a sense of humor and redid the same pose! The controversy around these pics is puzzling to me. I see nothing wrong at all with married couples kissing! We need more Duggars and less Miley Cirus or Justin Beiber in this world.

    ReplyDelete
  113. I have read and heard Jim Bob say he has given 4 children in marriage. Who are the other 1?

    ReplyDelete
  114. Way to go Jim Bob and Michelle and Jessa and Ben!! This is the first time I have seen that pic and I see nothing wrong with it. There are so many other things out there that are way worse and people are criticizing that? Some people have way too much time on their hands.

    ReplyDelete
  115. What controversy? I think this is a tasteful recreation by Michelle and Jim Bob, and I applaud them for standing up for marriage between a man and woman. I'm a Mormon and appreciate anyone who stands for truth and righteousness. :)

    ReplyDelete
  116. God bless your daughter and new son in law. They did everything the right way. I hope they have 50 years of kissing pictures!

    ReplyDelete
  117. This is beautiful! I don't understand why people need to criticize every move made by someone with the last name Duggar.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Bless you ALL!!! I am so in love with your family and fascinated by all of your love!

    ReplyDelete
  119. God bless you and your wonderful family. Your testimony is one of faith and love.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Go for it. Married people are supposed to be in love. I've been married 38 years, and still kiss my hubby. What kind of relationship would they have if they didn't show affection to one another. Let them kiss all they want. They certainly waited ling We could all learn a thing or two from waiting until marriage for the physical aspect of our love.

    ReplyDelete
  121. cant believe there's controversy over a husband and wife kissing... Go Jessa and Ben !!!!

    ReplyDelete
  122. It is not for everyone to see! No PDA!

    ReplyDelete
  123. My question is....why did they feel the need to duplicate it?

    ReplyDelete
  124. That's right! I don't see how people think that picture is racy or too much. I'm happy for the newlyweds and I know they are enjoying the married life. People scandalize over a married couple kissing, but they don't give it a second thought when a boyfriend and girlfriend kiss... Come on people what's wrong!?!?

    ReplyDelete
  125. Why does this family think we want to see them kissing??

    ReplyDelete
  126. I am proud of Ben and Jessa too! And now, during marriage, is the time to celebrate the affection they waited for! And Jim Bob and Michelle are such an inspiration of what a Godly, loving marriage should be like.

    ReplyDelete
  127. I think it's absolutely wonderful! :)

    ReplyDelete
  128. I wish I would have saved my 1st everything for my hubby but unfortunately I did not... We have been married 14 yrs and with 4 kids but those 1st moments will never be replaced.. I applaud all of you Dugger s for sticking to such high standards.... We are teaching our boys to be that respectful and our daughter the same.....

    ReplyDelete
  129. Congratulations to the newlyweds! :) keep on kissing and never let your love die!

    ReplyDelete
  130. Good for you!!! May God bless you all!!!

    ReplyDelete
  131. Thank you for the Godly example you set along with your family. We need more examples of the family as God intended. Too bad some people just have to find a way to turn something good into something distasteful. Thank you for standing up for your convictions!

    ReplyDelete
  132. I think it's beautiful..what is the big deal that people are having?

    ReplyDelete
  133. Kissing is a normal part of marriage. Or it should be if it is part of what I consider a normal, healthy marriage. For those who have issues viewing pictures of a married couple kissing, please look away and please leave the newlyweds alone.

    ReplyDelete
  134. I love the Duggars. I think they're all great people and I have a lot of admiration and respect for them. I get upset when people criticize them for anything. Most people in this world can't hold a candle to them as far as I'm concerned.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Once your married love is always in the air. How you express it us up to the couple. My husband and I have been married for 33 years are still very much in love.

    ReplyDelete
  136. I love this! since when was it "bad" to post pictures of you kissing your spouse? Way to stand up for your kiddos!

    ReplyDelete
  137. I find it silly that people are actually critisizing a married couples kissing photo. I find it to be a beautiful photo :)

    ReplyDelete
  138. People need to lighten up!! How many teens and many adults post pictures on Facebook or instagram of them kissing their significant other?? Just because she is a Duggar it's not OK?? She's married now! Nothing wrong with a wife kissing her husband.. and for those saying she's got too much cleavage.. there is no cleavage! Her hair covers anything that would be visible!! You can't see anything!!

  139. What God has joined together let no man put asunder. They are married,, they love each other .... leave them be. May all of Gods blessing surround you both on your new live together.

  140. Why is a kiss between a married couple so shocking to everyone? These two are examples of what young love is. And to see a couple that have been married try to recreate the photo is cute. Most people who have been married 30 years do not even want to hold hands anymore much less kiss. Kudos to Jessa and Ben may God bless your marriage abundantly. And Jim Bob and Michelle keep on inspiring married couples to show there love in Godly way know matter how long they have been married.

  141. Ben and Jessa's "kissing picture" should have been a private moment for them. I think it's too bad they wanted to share that special moment with the general public. It was done in poor taste and has caused too much drama. I think they are going to regret posting that picture when they have matured a little a few years from now.

  142. In a healthy marriage, there is some kissing. It's beautiful and healthy and if you want to show it, I say go for it. Love and admiration to your whole family.

    ReplyDelete
  143. I think this is wonderful. God created marriage for a purpose and loving your spouse this way shouldn't be condemned but celebrated. It's a wonderful role model for today's society. The Duggars are the only show I (I'm 23) sit down and watch after working all day. It gives me hope...

  144. I'm so thankful for the positive and encouraging example that you and your family lead in this secular society. It saddens me that so many people are out to criticize every move that you all make. First they criticize Ben and Jessa (and your other children) for reserving their first kiss for marriage then turn around and criticize them for sharing a loving display of affection. So silly! Know that the life you lead has a positive effect on so many! We appreciate your example and are so thankful you made the decision to be on television and share your family with ours!

  145. I think its sweet. They didn't even kiss at the altar for everyone to see but now days after the wedding its like they're releasing that intimate moment for everyone to share in their joy of new marriage. Good for them! They waited such a long time to unite with the one God intended for them, marriage gives them the right to kiss whenever they want, no matter who likes it!

  146. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Love it.

    ReplyDelete
  147. Who really cares. This is nothing compared to what is on the internet. They are in love

    ReplyDelete
  148. I love watching your family on tv every week. God bless all of you and thank you for always responding to negativity with grace and class

    ReplyDelete
  149. Duplicating their daughter and her new husbands kiss is creepy. Why would they be compelled to even do that?

    ReplyDelete
  150. it's no big deal....they are both married, geesh!

    ReplyDelete
  151. I think it is wonderful to see a picture of loving, married couples sharing a kiss! This is an amazing time for Jess and Ben and I'm very happy for them. Your family is an encouragement to all young people out there about how to handle themselves and their relationships. Keep up the great work!

    ReplyDelete
  152. They are married so they can kiss however they wish. If your offended by their kiss look away. This family has high morals and values , and it's past on to their children. It would have been okay if they would have posted a nude picture I guess. Leave this family alone!

    ReplyDelete
  153. Love the picture and all it represents. plus Jim Bob and Michelle recreation all husbands and wives should follow example!!

    ReplyDelete
  154. Let's admit it--we all blushed when we saw the pic of Ben and Jessa. It certainly is not inappropriate to kiss like that after you are married but it is inappropriate to post a picture like that on the internet. What were they thinking?? Mom and Dad shouldn't make it worse by posting their own pic.

    ReplyDelete
  155. I wonder if they published the picture - to respond to all the negative comments about keeping their first kiss private.

    ReplyDelete
  156. People are making WAY too much of a simple kiss between husband and wife. I would worry more if they DIDN'T kiss. Congratulations newlyweds.

    ReplyDelete
  157. I think, way to go Ben and Jessa! It's unfortunate they got caught. If this is at all true. It's hard to believe that, if Jinger really did walk in on them, that she would share that with the world or this "Mary" lady. My advice to Jessa- Keep that spark alive! You guys are married now so enjoy every parts of it! It is so like this world to make a story out of this for the world to see but don't let it take away from the joy and romance of this amazing new season of life! You are beautiful Jessa Blessa and we love you!! Amy

    ReplyDelete
  158. I love it! The world needs to see what Godly marriage and romance is like!

    ReplyDelete
  159. A book could be written about all that is wrong here.
I will keep them all in my prayers.

    ReplyDelete
  160. Considering what is on the networks on a nightly basis, who would criticize them, they are married and even waited to be man and wife prior to kissing. I would rather see them kissing than the many same sex couples making out on national television. I have four daughters and I would be happy if they have the morals of the Duggar girls when they are grown.. My husband and I are married 29 1/2 years and we still are in love and we still kiss passionately.

    ReplyDelete
  161. We can only wonder what Jessa and Ben's siblings felt like seeing that picture. Too much drama!! Too much information!!

    ReplyDelete
  162. Kiss on!! I liked Michelle response. I don't see why people are making such a big deal. They are married! They show worse on TV with unmarried couples.

    ReplyDelete
  163. Ben and Jessa are married and shared a picture of a closed mouth kiss together. Holy moly, the scandal of it all!! I mean seriously, there is nothing racy about this picture at all.

    ReplyDelete
  164. Bravo! Glad to see ya'll responding to the cheeky media coverage. Both of you guys' photos are beautiful and priceless.

    ReplyDelete
  165. Absolutely appropriate! So sweet!

    ReplyDelete
  166. I think the picture is a little steamy for a conservative Christian couple. However, isn't Jessa into photography? Maybe she just wanted a unique picture. I liked the Black and White.

    ReplyDelete
  167. Good for you all! Happy for you all! Love from a faithful fan! God bless your family!!

    ReplyDelete
  168. I love the Duggars and what they stand for! I love their pictures and I think they're beautiful!

    ReplyDelete
  169. Beautiful. Last I heard kissing is allowed when you are married.

    ReplyDelete
  170. OMG!! A kiss isn't a kiss until it is tasted! I am glad that Ben and Jessa saved their first kiss for just when they were a married young couple! I would have liked to see their first kiss but I am glad they saved that precious moment for just the two of them! You don't have to kiss someone all the time to know the love is there! A warm hand to hold, the crook of an arm, the look of love from across a room should be as important as a kiss!

    ReplyDelete
  171. Why cant Ben and Jessa have something for themselves??? It was bad enough that Michelle and Jim Bob kissed at her wedding but now they have to try to outshine them on they picture!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  172. Thank you for standing for purity and marriage as God designed. And leading your family by example. I greatly admire your ministry and believe you encourage those of us that are striving to live life in a Godly manner. I'm 27 yrs old and have been married almost two years. I hope to teach and train any children God may bless me with in a way that would bring honor to him and be set apart from the world. Blessings, Jessica

  173. I think it's wonderful! I think the photo Jessa and Ben shared was wonderful as well! Marriage is about love and two becoming one! There is no greater way to share your love for your husband or wife then by a kiss!💗

    ReplyDelete
  174. I understand about been marriedI understand about been married it makes it ok to kiss but does Jesus ok with putting a picture like that for the whole world to see(internet)? That can bring lust to many people specially young single people. My point of view i love my husband and we have great romance and passion for eachother but will not publish ourselfs this way it just gives the wrong pic in our christian lives.

    ReplyDelete
  175. I think it is wonderful, well played, Mom and Dad, well played.

    ReplyDelete
  176. I totally agree with the statement ya'll made and it's very true! I have alot of respect for your standards to wait. And it's refreshing to see that even after 30 years, you guys are still not afraid to show that romantic side. I really appreciate the example you set for younger people such as myself! Thanks! :)

    ReplyDelete
  177. Kiss away :) two wonderful handsome couples. All of America should take some lessons on the values you all cherish. Thanks for letting us into your home and your lives all these years. Love the show thank you.

    ReplyDelete
  178. Well I for one think it's great! It shows young people that marriage is a connection that 2 people have that is loving and passionate. And that's the way God wants it! So happy for Ben and Jessa!

    ReplyDelete
  179. I think if there were more ppl in the world like the Duggars the world would be a much better place!

    ReplyDelete
  180. beautiful, love you show and your family

    ReplyDelete
  181. Let's publish pictures everywhere for all our kids to see of Brady kissing each of his five wives. You know, from the TV show 'My Five Wives' that is also on TLC. They are happily married, too, so why not?

    ReplyDelete
  182. Please let your girls have their time and quit trying to steal the limelight. I love your show and your family and your beliefs. But I have to say, stealing the spotlight from your kids is not cool.

    ReplyDelete
  183. Married or not.....i feel it was a little inappropriate....not typical duggar behavior....it was a little shocking to be honest.

    ReplyDelete
  184. It's perfectly sweet to kiss your spouse. Some complaints may be because its seeing all this and no wedding yet. Your so far behind showing weddings and baby bumps its a shock to see a kiss and no wedding since we all know your rules on courting and engagements are so strict. You need to get us caught up seeing Jill pregnant seeing Jessa's wedding and stop dragging it out do slow. It's fun to watch but your starting to hold back so much and its like this.... You show us your true life all of it, or you sign off the air all together. Don't show bits and pieces.

    ReplyDelete
  185. I don't understand why their kiss has caused such controversy. They did things the right and I for one am glad to see such a pure marital example for the rest of us to see.

    ReplyDelete
  186. I think Ben and Jessa's photo shows the passion of a newly married couple. May that passion never cease! I say, good for them! And, I love that Mr. and Mrs. Duggar are being so supportive of their daughter and son-in-law. Their photo shows that you can still have that newlywed spark, no matter how many years or decades you have been married. May God continue to bless both couples!

    ReplyDelete
  187. Way to go Mom and Dad for supporting Jessa and Ben. I think the photos are a beautiful display of true love.

    ReplyDelete
  188. I think its awesome! I think it was a great encouragment to Jessa and Ben (and to me and my husband), like as if Mr and Mrs Duggar were saying, 'hey guys, you can still be just in love or moreso 30 years down the road!' They are celebrating their biblical, God-honoring marriages!

    ReplyDelete
  189. It is beautiful and pure!

    ReplyDelete
  190. That was a beautiful statement. I dont understand why everyone is making such a big deal out of this picture. God created marriage for intimancy. They are married and I dont see anything wrong with them posting these kind of pictures.

    ReplyDelete
  191. Well, Jim Bob & Michelle's picture would be similar to Ben & Jessa's if Michelle was closer to showing clevage AND Jim Bob appeared, at first glance to be shirtless. That's my only objection -- at first, it looked like Ben was shirtless.

    ReplyDelete
  192. I think it is wonderful the way you and Michelle raised your kids.
