In just over four weeks, Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald will be united in marriage. Take a look at the couple's wedding invitation:
Mr. & Mrs. Jim Bob Duggar
Request the honor of your presence
At the marriage of their daughter
Jessa Lauren Duggar
to
Benjamin Michael Seewald
Son of Michael & Guinn Seewald
November 1, 2014
I know I don't personally know Ben but 19 is young to get married these days. I think this is the first time I disagree with a duggar decision.
ReplyDeleteWell I'm pretty sure Jimbob and Michelle would not have agreed unless they were sure that Jessa would be happy.
DeleteDear lily and Ellie,
ReplyDeleteSince you went to Jill's wedding will you be attending this one to? Did you ever get to meet the Duggars in person prior to the wedding??? Do you ever email the Duggars on a regular basics to about the blog? How can we contact you 2, lily and Ellie like in email?
Isn't Jessa's "front" leaning into Ben's chest? Not allowed.
ReplyDeleteIn the typed out version of what is on the invitation, you have accidentally put if instead of, of when it comes to Jessa.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great pic! What a beautiful invitation! Yay for them both!
ReplyDeleteAHHHH! I'm so excited for Ben and Jessa! They are a great match! I have been watching the Duggar's show since I was about six.-I'm thirteen now. It is always so nice to watch another Christian homeschooling family. God bless you Duggars, Dillards, and soon to be Seewalds! :) And thank you, Miss Lily and, Miss Ellie!

Omg I am homeschooled to!!
DeleteJessa, please know that you are supported by many thousands of people who don't have your access to media concerning the very real holocaust occuring in our society thru abortion.. I thank you for your faithfulness to speak out in behalf of these little ones. Every brave voice who speaks truth will find itself under attack. You are young and often criticism will cause the young to shrink back. Always remember that the proof of your impact is proven by negative uprising! You are deeply and widely supported and your voice is already saving the lives of little ones everywhere.
ReplyDeleteThier beautiful but don't sem to be as perfect of a match asJill and Derick but they look totally in love :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not a wedding invitation expert but don't both sets of parents usually request the honor of everyone's presence? It seems like the seewalds were a bit of an after thought IMHO
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love your family, you set such a good example for the rest of us raising children! Congratulations!!!!
ReplyDeleteNice photo! Also Seewald wedding #1. ;-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful couple and a nice wedding invitation. Congratulations Jessa and Ben!
ReplyDeleteAhhhhhhhh so excited!!!!!!!!
ReplyDelete*of* their daughter, please(;
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see the wedding !!! Im so excited for them
ReplyDelete-Brittany :)
Sure wish we could attend the wedding! Especially since we haven't even seen Jill' yet!! I wish TLC would extend the season or something to get the show a little closer to real time. Being almost 4 months behind is killing me!!! 😉
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy for them, you can see how much they love each other when they look @ each other, can't wait to see Jill's & Derricks wedding still.
ReplyDeleteSorry, I dont get that excited happy feeling about this couple as I do for Jill and Derick, why is that? Derick and his family seem real and honest. I dont recall them ever saying anything controversial unlike Ben and the Seewalds.Public opinion feels the same as i do, I wonder why that is?
ReplyDeleteIs this a general invitation that includes me?! (tee, hee)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the notice. We will be there. We like to make it a practise to fulfill all of our plenary obligations. (We will surely be there watching their TLC wedding episode that is!)
ReplyDeleteTheir soo cute can't wait till their wedding !!!!:)
ReplyDeleteI did?????
DeleteBeautiful picture of both of them. Congratulations to both of you!! Wishing you a happy and healthy marriage
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the style of Jessa's dress the difference in fashion between her dress an that of Jill's... I wonder what theme Ben and her chose for their wedding... and I think what is even more exciting is tge fact That after Jessa is married... everyone knows that the Duggars are gonna announce more courtships in the near future so that we tune into next season to see those courtships unfold..my guess is that it could possibly be Jana and John who will announce something...
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to the happy couple! I love the whole Duggar family and for the light you send to the world!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to yet another beautiful and blessed couple. Can't wait to see it. Still waiting to see Jill's wedding. Your parents are coming to my town next month (OCT) and really hoping to be able to go and see them.....Hannibal LaGrange College Hannibal Mo............ Nita Beilsmith Hannibal Mo....
ReplyDeleteLovely couple, may all ur life's dreams and wishes be blessed, love each other and pray everyday for God's guidance and everything will just fall into place
ReplyDeleteUh oh that looks like more than just a side hug(she is pressed against him pretty tight)...haha..just kidding Jess, I really do hope your marriage is blessed! Congrats.
ReplyDeleteJessa is so beautiful, inside and out (as is Jill and the rest of the Duggar daughters), and she will surely make a beautiful bride and a beautiful wife and mother. I am so happy for her. God bless the Duggars! In Christ, Kristin.
ReplyDeleteHopefully Jessa won't be posing for pics with assault weapons..lol...on the big day. Not sure this kid uses the best judgement and she seems a little too focused on looks and in awe of Ben? Hope it lasts.
ReplyDeleteI don't think there was any intention to make Ben's parents appear as an after thought. It is only customary to word the invitation from both sets of parents if both sets of parents are paying for the wedding. Traditionally the brides family hosts (and pays for) the wedding. If this is the case, the invitation is sent to friends and family of bride and groom from the bride's parents. The groom's parents are always mentioned just as we see here. This sweet invitation is appropriately worded in my opinion. Frequently today we will see invitations from both sets of parents and the couple themselves. This is usually an indication that everyone is pitching in for the expense. Traditionally, the grooms family are considered honored guests at the wedding, but it is the bride's family who plan and host the event. This is not to suggest that there are not many ways to put a wedding together, just in this case it appears that this is a traditional event and definitely not a slight to the Seewald's.
ReplyDeleteVery non traditional wedding invitation, but it realy fits the couple;) so happy for them
ReplyDeleteIn my tradition the groom's parents are names as "son of Mr. and Mrs....etc.." as a groom isn't an orphan and his parents should be listed too . When both sets of parents are paying,, as in my tradition, both sets of "Mr and Mrs. are listed as requesting the honor of your presence at the marriage of their children..xxx and xxx. This is appropriately worded as JB and Michelle paying for the shindig and the groom's parents being listed.
ReplyDeleteI love the show and wish nothing but the best for Ben and Jessa but I'm wondering if Ben isn't a little too young to get married?
ReplyDeletewhere is it at?
ReplyDeleteare there any more details available?
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Ben and Jessa! You two are very in love and it's apparent. I admire you so much for all that you stand for! May God bless your marriage and your families. : )

ReplyDeleteHi Samantha,
You can email us at DuggarFamilyBlog@gmail.com.
Blessings,
Lily and Ellie
I feel like by the time this wedding rolls around we will be burnt out with all the wedding stuff.I have a sinking feeling that this show is coming to an end.It has changed so much and its mostly TLC fault, they keep taking up taping time with recaps . They really should ask the fans of show ideas as we are the ones watching, we would tell them what we want to see. I bet they would hear alot of the same interesting show ideas.Maybe its up to us fans to give them suggestions, I'll try anything to keep the show going.
ReplyDeleteIs it true that Jinger wears pants? I don't believe it.
ReplyDeleteIt depends on who's paying for it... :) Traditionally, the bride's parents pay for the wedding, so they're the ones requesting the presence of attendees. If both sets of parents are paying, they're both listed at the top. Sometimes the couple pays for their wedding themselves and so they would actually be the ones requesting. As a new bride, I recently got a crash course in invitation etiquette. Who knew there are so many rules?! :)
ReplyDeleteOnly my parents requested the honor of the presence of our guests when I married since, as their daughter, they hosted the wedding and paid for it. My husband's parents hosted the rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding, and paid for that. This is the etiquette for many weddings, particularly when the bride and her fiancé are young.
ReplyDeleteBen reminds me of one of those rings that has a stone that has different colors depending on the heat. He is always Ben but he sort of comes across slightly different from time to time. I wouldn't say he is moody but he's got a quality about him that generates slightly different impressions.
ReplyDeleteI kinda feel sorry for Ben and Jessa, I feel they are in the shadow of Jill and Derek. Everyone was so exited when Jessa went into a courtship with Ben and then TLC went with the the whole courtship thing and wedding with Jill and Derek. I will admit that I could not wait every week to see were their love story was headed. Jessa and Ben did not get to be together but every other week, and I think that has not kept the story from going foward. I just hope that TLC will let us get to know the story with Ben and Jessa before they start showing about Jill, Derek and the baby. I love Jill and Derek, but !!!! lets give Ben and Jessa a chance to show their story.
ReplyDeleteThis invitation is incomplete. Is it a "save the date"? It doesn't list where the ceremony will be, what time, and where the reception will be held and from what time. How is that? Does anyone know the "wheres and whens"?
ReplyDeleteBest of luck in your up coming marriage. May the lord walk by your side guiding you both with life long love and happiness and understanding. Many Blessings in your future. Much love an happiness always.

All the wedding info could possibly be on the other side of the invitation.
ReplyDeleteJust read the comments above and I saw the one about Ben being to young. I believe that the Duggars will only base their decision on what they believe God is leading them to do.I also don't think age matters as much as maturity. God bless you all
ReplyDeleteJess
The only thing non-traditional in this invitation in my opinion (apart from the fact that they did not show time, place, etc., which is for obvious reasons!) is that they listed Jessa's last name. As far as I am aware, in the past this was not done because, as the daughter of the parents, her name would obviously be the same as theirs. In today's world, with so many divorces, that may - and I have to add, unfortunately - no longer be true. My guess is that that is why they put her full name - to underscore that this is her first marriage. (Same with Jill's.)
ReplyDeleteCongrats Ben and Jessa!! Anonymous 1 i totally disagree with u. 19 is not that young. I tthey made the rigt decision.
ReplyDeleteWill the Duggars support them for awhile financially? If he's in college and doing odd jobs for Jim Bob ... I thought they were all adamant that a man be the support of his wife after marriage not saying rich by any ,means, but still being the provider even if it means struggling in the beginning like Jim,Bob and Michelle did...but I can't see the duggars letting that happen to Jessa.
ReplyDeleteSo Excited for them! They will make a GREAT couple! Love the invitation! So cute!
ReplyDeleteMary :-)
Yes it looks like Ben is the pressing up against Jessa's "front", not Jessa leaning into him. I was quite shocked to this rather provocative pose( by Duggar standards)! When Jill and Derrick were photographed all their pics were innocent looking and was definitely a side hug type embrace. This one looks a little racy. Even though, I think Jessa looks gorgeous and Ben looks handsome init.
ReplyDeleteJessa asked for rifles at walart as wedding gifts? That is so not christian like.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteI replied to this comment but I don't think they published it. Why?
If the date is true that is the day my twins were born. What a great day to get married. Also I was married at 19 and my husband 20 and we have been married for 25 years and have 4 beautiful children. It can work out. Every marriage has it's problems.
ReplyDeleteI really think they make a good couple I can't wait to see there wedding.
