Tonight on TLC...
19 Kids and Counting "Duggar Daughter Dates"
19 Kids and Counting "Duggar Daughter Dates"
- Ben and Jessa head to a local shooting range (the same one Jessa went to for her 18th birthday) with Jason as their chaperone. Ben has a small pick-up truck, which makes chaperoned dates a bit tricky. "Joe and John-David don't come with us a lot," says Ben. Ben jokingly points out that once he and Jessa get married and no longer have to bring chaperones everywhere they go, there will be a lot more room in the truck.
- Both Ben and Jessa do very well at the shooting range, but Jason thinks his sister is a better shot than Ben.
- Derick takes Jill on a hiking date for her birthday, accompanied by chaperone James. "For me it's not awkward being a chaperone because I'm just here for the food," says James, who ends up getting carsick during the drive.
- After hiking to a beautiful lookout point, the three enjoy a picnic lunch of bread, cheese, humus, and figs, packed by Derick.
- Meanwhile, Michelle takes Jennifer, who has been straining her eyes while doing schoolwork, to the eye doctor to get fitted for a pair of purple glasses. Jim Bob, Michelle, and Jill also wear glasses.
- Michelle says that Jennifer, who turned seven in August, usually has a very serious look on her face but that she does smile from time-to-time.
- Jill and Derick, along with Jessa, visit the home of their official wedding baker, who also happens to be one of Jill's midwifery clients, to choose a flavor of cake for their big day. The couple decides on French vanilla cake with strawberry filling and off-white, butter cream frosting. In addition to a fancy wedding cake, Jill and Derick will also have sheet cake for their guests.
- Jessa says she plans to go the nontraditional route and serve ice cream instead of cake at her wedding. Stay tuned to see if Ben agrees!
- The next step for Jill and Derick is finding a wedding venue; they bring Michelle along to help. The first two locations don't end up working out. Magnolia Gardens has a maximum occupancy of 300 guests, and Springdale Country Club is sizeable but is too fancy for the Duggars' tastes. "We're more barefoot and backyard kind of people," says Michelle.
- The third venue that Michelle, Jill, and Derick visit is Cross Church, which holds a very special place in the Duggars' hearts. Cross Church is the church where Jim Bob grew up and is also where Jim Bob and Michelle married in 1984 and renewed their vows in 2009. The church can easily accommodate all 3,000 guests that Jill and Derick have invited, so they decide to book it.
- The Duggars are planning Jill's wedding on a budget. According to Michelle, Jill mentioned the idea of setting a wedding budget even before Jim Bob and Michelle brought it up.
- Back home, Jim Bob splits the kids into three teams, led by Joseph, Jeremiah, and Jedidiah, to build soap box derby cars from kits that the children found online. They quickly discover that the kits are missing wheels but end up assembling as much of the cars as they can. Jim Bob plans to organize a race once the wheels arrive.
- In Washington D.C., Anna, who enjoys doing hands-on activities with her children, helps Mackynzie, Michael, and Marcus make and decorate concrete paver stones. The project ends up being very messy, but the stones turn out great.
What about Anna in DC busy with her kids?
ReplyDeleteI thought that Anna was supposed to be in this episode with the kids
ReplyDeleteI don't know what the seat belt laws are in Arkansas, but in my state, Ben would be hauled off to jail putting a minor in the middle of the front seat not designed with a third front seat and no third seat belt. Oh, well, I guess it is more important to keep Jessa and Ben from touching one another than it is to ensure the safety of a minor child in a seatbelt. Go figure.
ReplyDeleteHe did put on a lap belt,.thats legal.
DeleteJames should be a standup comedian. He cracked me up tonight! What a personality!
ReplyDeleteJames' comments were hilarious! He's a great kid!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed tonights episodes, it seemed like the good old days, with more variety.
ReplyDeleteHer glasses were purple.. she doesn't like pink!
ReplyDeleteI really really hope that TLC doesnt drag out the whole season on wedding preparations and then end the season with the wedding.I have a feeling we are gonna have to wait for the married life and pregnancy till next year.Ugh, thats frustrating for all us fans, at least they could give us some between season specials like they used to.I know, lets contact TLC and give them some requests, it cant hurt any.
ReplyDeleteWhy didn't they get married at the church they all attend? or do they not attend a public church?
ReplyDeleteI believe Jim Bob teaches at a house he owns and a few other families attend too. It's weird to me that they don't just go to a church since they are busy enough as it is..
DeleteThere's a few families that are involved in the home church and they take turns going to each other's house after church they usually stay for awhile and everyone's kids play together and they have food
DeleteWhat is the date of the wedding premiere?
ReplyDeletewhen will the episodes be on youtube?
ReplyDeleteThanks for this! Hope they're both uploaded to YouTube soon! ;) Interesting that Jennifer needed glasses. I don't know if I knew Michelle & JimBob needed them too or not. How neat that Jill is getting married at the same church her parents did!! :) :)
ReplyDeletei thought one of the episodes had something to do with Anna and the kids in DC? I can't get 19KAC in the uk so i don't know if I'm right...???? some one help me please xx
ReplyDeleteIn the episode Duggar Sized Wedding Planning Anna is in that one and helps her kids make and decorate paver stones of their own. Hope that helps! :)
DeleteCan't wait to see the episode, once it's loaded online! Thanks again to whoever does that!
ReplyDeletePLZ I NEED TO KNOW WHAT EPOSODE THE WEDDING IS GOING TO BE ON CAUSE WERE HAVING PPL OVER TO OUR HOUSE TO WATCH IT THANKS IN ADVANCE
ReplyDeleteaw you left out the part with anna and her children. I thought that was the most adorable part when mackynzie didnt like the concrete on her hands. she was like "hurry mommy get it off" that was too cute
ReplyDeleteI watched it again. Jennifer said she hates pink. Her glasses were purple!
ReplyDeleteI think jennifer and Jackson were on Jed's team. Did anyone catch who the other teams were?
ReplyDeleteJoseph, jeramiah, and Jedediah were all captains and I can't remember what kids were in each team! There's so many!
DeleteFunny that Jenny said she dislikes pink... she said that when she was wearing a PINK bow! lol!
ReplyDeleteLily and Ellie,
ReplyDeleteDon't forget... the boys and JB also assembled the cars backwards and had to redo it;)
thought that would be another funny fact to add to the recap for those who did not catch the episode!

ReplyDeleteLily and Ellie will fill us in on the date of when the wedding will air on TLC just as soon as TLC nails down the date.
What great episodes...word of warning though...a couple clips of this weeks episodes are listed wanted money to view on you tube...there are two that are free.
ReplyDeleteThank you both for all your updates, wonderful details of the episodes and continued efforts.
I'm a certified optician, so I loved the scene where Michelle took Jennifer to the eye doctor! Her reaction is quite typical of children getting their first pair of glasses.
ReplyDeleteI love this new season and loved these two episodes
ReplyDelete-Brittany :)
If you watch the video there is a seat belt in the middle. He was putting it on in one shot. GEEZ!
ReplyDeleteAbut the comment that Ben may not have belted Jason in the front seat of the truck...fear not - just go back to the show when Michelle went with Jessa to the Seewald's place (by plane) and got picked up by Ben - Michelle sat right there and PUT ON THE SEAT BELT - it IS there for that third person!
ReplyDeleteHow can Ben's truck have a legal/proper 3rd seat in the front if a little kid can't fit in it safely? Did you see how Ben had to squirm to shift gears? James' (?) knees were in the way. So unsafe.
ReplyDeleteIt was good to see Michelle spend some time with Jennifer, it always seemed that Jennifer got lost in the pack of little girls, sandwiched as she was between outgoing Hanny and Jordyn and then Josie was born prematurely and Jennifer probably lost some needed mommy time, which may be why she is so stoic, as Michelle says she rarely smiles. In the episode Michelle seemed nervous making eye contact with her, I hope Michelle makes some needed time with Jennnifer to bring her out of her shell.
ReplyDeleteI love the duggars they are fun
ReplyDeleteRe comment 30 Michelle just took Jennifer to get glasses. If this is her 'mommy time' then that is sad. Jennifer gets equal time with her mother in all group situations. Also the dad spends time with her too. I would guess that Michelle and Jim Bob wouldn't be guilty of neglecting one of their children. They said they make a point to give some individual time to them all. This kind of super sensitive thinking is probably the kind of thing that builds up ideas of insecurity in these children, instead of calming them down and showing them how much they have and how it is fairly distributed=all. Even as Jill and Derick, before that Josh and Anna, have had their special days the others will have their chances too. It spoils the joy when a person is thinking about themselves during someone else's moments, those moments dedicated to another member of the family. A child may think oh someone else in the family is getting all the moments and I am not getting any, that is a kind of panic that is not true. These are just parents and they pay attention to their children in an orderly way and they have plans to do that. The parents take a lot of criticism, but what mom's and dad's don't? I remember giving my mom a hard time. If she took a bit of time to herself she'd probably have to defend doing that to someone. I do not see a reason to think any of the Duggar children are lacking in anything. These children are fortunate and treated well by their parents who are conscientious about giving everyone a share of good things, including attention.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous there was a seatbelt. He buckled it.
ReplyDeletepeople need to stop judging this family for any reason. They love each other and take care of each other end of subject. If you don't like something you see then don't watch this show.
ReplyDeleteJust because a child is quiet does not have to mean that is the consequence of mistreatment. It could be a real personality trait and saying they are 'that way' for some reason is not letting them be who they are. An out going child is not necessarily a happy child, look at Amy she is outgoing and she said she put up with more than her share of strife in her life from her parents problems. See the Duggar leaves home episodes.
ReplyDeleteI agree that the Duggar children have plenty and it is a trick to make that seem like too little by complaining. Gratitude and gratefulness, being thankful goes a long way to bringing the truth of enough and contentment to light.
ReplyDeleteHi, the videos seem to be gone! Where can I find the link? Thanks
ReplyDeleteI am not able to see the link to watch the show? Where is it now?
ReplyDelete@Paula
