I wish I had heard about your family and value system so much sooner. It really would have changed so much in how I parented my own children. My childhood didn't leave much to go on so I was pretty much figuring it out as I go with my 7 children.
ReplyDeleteI wish your show had been on so much sooner. I would have changed so much in my relationships and parenting. I had no good role models and pretty much figured things out as I went. Your show has taught me so much, and I appreciate it more than you know. You guys are amazing and I know all that you have is what God has given you for your lifetime of service. I'm hoping all your children marry and all have big families to infuse this world with love and joy and drown out all the hatred and horror. Others may not agree with your lifestyle but I think its marvelous. I would love to turn back the clock and change my life . bless you all

ReplyDeleteIt's weird... as she wears her hair long now, Jessa consistently reminds me of someone I know... every time I see a photo of Jessa and straight hair I think of my workmate. I think Jessa looks prettier with wavy hair, myself.
ReplyDeleteI think Jessa looks good with her hair straight or curly. She has some natural waves. Ben on the other hand, looks better when he gets his hair off of his forehead.

ReplyDeleteThe Duggars made it very clear years ago that Michelle decided that she felt best to cover her knees. At that time she said that the girls did the same thing, but were allowed to set their own modesty standards. I don't think that they need to clarify, there certainly is no reason to judge. They still seem to be pretty strict about maintaining the standards they set as a very young family.

ReplyDeleteOn another note, I am a little worried that Ben would be overwhelmed by a lot of kids right away, and Jessa doesn't have that motherly way about her. I'm a little worried for them on that front, but Lord knows I wish them nothing but the best.

Though I've never heard of two sibilings in one family marrying in the same year. Although maybe I have. Erin (Bates) Pain got married one month before her brother Zach did. And this was last year. Hey, is Erin expecting yet? I know Zach and his wife are due with their baby boy next month.

ReplyDeleteAnonymous 19- I have the same feeling- I love this family and all they stand for but I can't put my finger on something that just doesn't feel right about Ben. I want to be happy for them, but my husband and I say after we see each episode that we feel there is something about Ben that we hope he will not disappoint Jessa. But I can't quite figure it out what makes me have reservations about him...hopefully things will be beautiful for them, though!

DeleteI think what it is is that he is more camera shy and tends to act a bit more akward around the camera then Derrick... Remember he isn't used to being on camera let alone his relation ship. I'm sure everyone would feel that way if they were on TV and had every moment of your relationship on TV. And all we see is what's on tv we don't personally know him to see what he's like off camera... I'm sure he's a lot more relaxed. And besides your not the ones marrying him Jessa is. DeleteOn a recent episode I watched, it said Ben was 18 and then just turned 19. If he seems to lack confidence, as a commenter below says, I think that would be why. Think about most 18 and 19 year old guys you know!

ReplyDeleteAnyone know how Ben will support Jessa? Derick had a degree and full time job. Ben is still in school and works for Jim Bob (not a career to support a family). Jim Bob and Michelle were young yes but delaye don purpose having a family and both had their real estate license.

Anonymous 19 and 44...I feel the same way as well. I am happy for them, but something doesn't seem right about the situation. The way Ben looked when Jim Bob asked him to move to the guest house looked like he wanted to say no, but felt that he had to say yes, because he was put on the spot and had cameras in his face. I remember when Josh and Anna married, It was either Michelle or Jim Bob that said when the kid leaves the home it's "leave and cleave", yet they are letting Ben live there, and Jim Bob is giving him a job. What will they do when they are actually married?

ReplyDeleteI lost so much respect for Ben and therefore haven't been able to watch the new episodes this season. If he would have came forward and apologized after the hateful rant I would have had a lot more respect for him. But, by him not, it tells me he's not sorry and still stands by his words. Although I do not have the same religious beliefs as the Duggars I support, respect, and truly enjoyed watching the show. Derrick and Jill are the sweetest cutest couple! Miss watching them! :) I come to this site to hear updates about them, the baby, and the rest of the Duggars.
ReplyDeleteIf they were photographed in El Salvador on the steps of that church, that would be a CATHOLIC church, wouldn't it... There is no reason to evangelize and convert an already Christian people to their slice of the Christian pie. It's a waste of time. Get to their quality of life, here on earth and give them clean water, healthy food, health care and a decent home to live in. That's progress and truly a Christian gesture,,, to respect the sect of Christianity that is already there.

Have your opinion as to Ben and his readiness emotionally/financially to be a married man, but what do you want from a 19 year old kid? How much of a ring can he afford? If he bought it with his own money, great! Would you think more or less of him if his father or Jim Bob "helped out with the money? I hope he bought it all by himself.

The Guggars live according to Gods high standards of holiness. Rare to find a church teaching it these days. A Pentacostal church is the closest I have found. So very much like the Duggars life style.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Jessa and Jill. This family is one of the most wonderful I have ever known about. If only more people had the convictions and belief in God that the Duggars have. They are an inspiration to everyone and I applaud them for not straying from their belief systems in spite of their success on 19 Kids and Counting. Jim Bob and Michelle have raised an incredible family and the fact that all they do is in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ is inspiring.
