A Look Back to Yesterday

Jill and Jessa are growing up and moving out. When the Duggars' first show aired on Discovery Health, these girls were barely teenagers. Now, they are entering married life and motherhood. Take a trip down memory lane with these old TLC webisodes:

  1. I really like these older episodes and how they did things then. No as much make up, more down to earth, I guess the kids were younger and that wasn't important to them. I also like their outfits then. I don't miss their super curly, permed hair and poufs! Well I still appreciate their values and am enjoying this season of courtship, marriages and new lives. So exciting and such a treasure!

  2. Its been a blessing watching all the kids grow up in their own different ways. I am sure Jill will make a great Mother as well as Jessa. I am praying for the twins to find the match for them as well. Michelle and Jim Bob are very youthful Grandparents.

  3. I guarantee my children get more of my time than the Duggar children do--from me--and not siblings. And I work outside the home, whatever that means as to Michelle Duggar works also works outside the home on political issues, yet she claims stay at home mom status. Huh?

  4. This is SERIOUS, Lil;y and Ellie. EXTREMELY SERIOUS. That the Duggars put the safety of one of their children breaking seat belt laws just in order to stop inappropriate touching put the little Duggar in serious safety jeopardy. Do the Duggar children and parents havve so little faith in themselves that they put their little or middle ones in jeopeardy just to ensure the older ones don't touch? I myself would rather my older children touch inappropriately than to put a middle one in harm's way.

    1. YOUR SO WRONG! There is a lap belt in the middle that he put on.Be 100% sure before y'all post inaccuracies please.I think an apology is in order, that would be humbling to say the least.

    2. What should require some more thought on your part is why you feel the need to pick apart and degrade another person's family and how they choose to run things. I did not see the clip you are referring to but someone else commented that perhaps you should take a second look because the child did in fact put on a seat belt and even if not that is THEIR choice to make and THEIR consequence if they get caught or something should happen. People need to focus more on their own behaviors and attitudes and less on what they can criticize about other people. And for the record you are being a little over dramatic about the seriousness of a seat belt violation (if one even occurred)! There are much bigger issues in the world then someone not wearing a seatbelt!

    3. I Think you need to take a second look at the episode. I see Jason reach to his left click his seat belt in and as they drive away you can also see where the seat belt is clicked in. You can also see the excess grey part of the seat belt across his waist. It was too big and he probably had to slide the clip further in to make it fit. In trucks like this one the seat belt for the middle passenger just clips across his lap. If you re-watch it's on. So Jason is well loved and in no dire danger. Your accusations against his parents therefore have no merit.

  5. I think the Michelle and Jessa takes to the skies webisode has been taken down on the TLC website and I can't seem to get the video to play on here.

  9. At the end of the clip where Jessa is teaching, you can see some scribbling on one of the walls....looks a bit like my house at times! I'm glad I'm not the only Mama who goes through this.:)

  10. Has anyone even noticed that those " boxes in the lower corner of the TV" which is supposed to be showing the Duggars watching the episodes we are watching don't jive with the footage being shown on TV at those moments? The Duggar kids are laughing at something they are watching, yet there is nothing funny at all about what is being shown to us at that moment. It's spliced video, IMO having nothing to do with the subject at hand. These kids haven't seen their own TV show, except for a prepared DVD of the premiere episode that they claim to watch at Deanna's house with the commercials (nike) spliced out. Is that still the case?

  12. Angela S: I think the fuss over the "seatbelt" is a concern if an accident were to occur and that poor person was in an illegal, ill-fitting seat, or not belted. They would sustain injuries that could have been avoided...you can't replace a lost human being, but a truck, yes. It's a major safety concern in this country...

  13. I am curious why it is the responsibility of the older girls to help with the younger children and why the older boys are not saddled with more of that responsibility.

I respect and admire that "it works for the family so it's no one's business"....I get that, I am 52 y/o, was raised in a Southern Baptist household and know that there were roles for me and different roles for my brothers. I was blessed to have parents that understood a well rounded adult will have experienced all types of responsibility, heaven forbid a man lose his wife and need to raise a child on his own, or a woman lose her husband and not have a clue how to mow the lawn or fix a leaky faucet.
(I am watching the one where Michelle and Jim Bob are on the couples retreat)
Why don't we ever see the boys caring for the younger children? Even the younger boys could do more than sit at the counter and whine for the girls to get them their breakfast, they could be getting plates, buttering toast, filling glasses....or maybe just sitting quietly.

I love this family, I wish I could know them and experience the gentle spirits and love for one another. I was raised in a family like that and crave it as an adult.

  14. I had always wondered but never asked did Jessa get some sort of teaching degree or certificate like Anna? You site always has the correct information. I am not a full time homeschooler but my kids partciapate in a homeschool group for some activities. I thought it had to be the parent of the child overseeing the homeschooing or someone with a teaching certificate. I have always wondered what Jessa (and Jinger) had done since they finished homeschool since the show has never focused on this.
