In the following TLC webisode, former professional football player Steve Conley takes Josh and Anna Duggar and their children, Mackynzie, Michael, and Marcus, to a local farmers market to help them choose healthier options.
"The kids really enjoyed the activity and being involved in sort of the shopping process," says Josh Duggar.

I bet Anna is pregnant. ☺
ReplyDeleteThat's great that Steve makes house calls.
ReplyDeleteI really hope trainer Steve stays vigilant with Josh, it worries me that he is a little to lax about his health. He needs to be around for his children and future kids, its no joke, we all care about this family and only wish them the best.
ReplyDeleteI watched the episode and it was funny to see that Steve was there for breakfast (an unhealthy breakfast.
ReplyDeleteReally? You've got to be kidding that it took this man to guide Josh and Anna on how to visit a farmers market to buy fresh foods? Seems very "staged" to me. I would think Anna would certainly know how to shop for healthy foods.
ReplyDeleteThose three words don't go together and it is a mis-statement to say that they do as we all know: Duggars and healthy eating. The Duggar clan eats cheap processed artificial food. The only green salad I ever saw prepared for the whole family was plain iceburg with high-fat dressing. And I think that was only shown on TV after the public asked why they did not eat healthy.
ReplyDeleteI would not be surprised if Anna was pregnant again. Me being a mother of 4....I wouldn't be surprised at all. I think she's pregnant.
ReplyDeleteCute!
ReplyDeleteHaha Mackenzie is SO CUTE! Love the half hair pony tail the other platted.
ReplyDeleteI agree. She is cute as can be!!
DeleteMackynzie and Michael are the cutest things EVER!!!! Awwwww! Their voices are adorable! Can't wait to see Marcus grow up some more!! Oh, and baby Dilly!! Hehe! Jim Bob and Michelle are very lucky to have such adorable grandkids!! Keep 'em coming, Duggars!! ;)
ReplyDeleteLooks like a tiny baby bump on Anna!! Yay! So excited!
ReplyDeleteI have always enjoyed following the Duggar family, and I am fascinated at how such a large family functions day-to-day. But, I cannot help but be a bit confused as to why they do not make healthier food choices. They have so many hands to help prepare food, so it cannot be that they do not have the time to peel a ton of veggies, or just wash and chop them up so they can be steamed or baked, or grilled. Even Anna could spend a few minutes preparing a few days worth of fresh veggies. They are a smart family so they must know that prepackaged, canned, and frozen food is filled with so many chemicals and preservatives. It cannot be a cost thing, because the family can certainly afford it, I mean what is the point in compromising their health just to save a few dollars now so that they can pay for health care and medication later on in life? In an episode last week, it is obvious how little exposure the family has to healthier food when (James?) went on the hike with Jill and Derick. Even Jim Bob's attitude towards different food (and that of the older kids) has often surprised me, because some of the foods they look shocked to try are not all that different. Exposing children (starting at a very young) age to fresh, whole foods that are prepared from scratch will expand their palates and set them up for a healthier childhood and prepare them to make wise choices once they become independent adults and start their own families.
ReplyDeleteHilarious ! But was it really a "surprise" that he showed up right as they were eating an unhealthy breakfast, I sometimes wonder how all this stuff can possibly be "coincidence"
ReplyDeleteI really loved this show , I enjoyed rewatching it..I love to see Anna and the kids and of course, Josh! Anna is so pretty ...hope they have 20 one day :)
ReplyDeletehealthy choices.... glad they have a friend like that.... some would find such a shopping spree intimidating. I wonder what dishes Josh and Anna will make with all those veggies?
ReplyDeleteWhy won't you do an update on Jana Duggar?
ReplyDeletehe has gained weight since moving to Washington but he still looks good
ReplyDeleteI'm not trying to be mean here at all, but I have been watching the recent episodes this week and I have some real advice for Jill. Please take some advice from this old lady who has been married longer than her mother (imagine that!). Will someone out there who actually speaks to this family tell Jill to quit talking over and interrupting everyone around her who is speaking first. Especially with Derick. She continually does this and is just what she seems to do, like what she has to say is more important than letting the other person finish speaking. Derick may tolerate this in these shows right now, as he was still waiting to kiss her, but given a little time after marriage, and this will begin to grate on him. It is impolite and rude of her to do so. She also has done this with her sisters on that book tour they taped every time. This is some good advice which she should heed.
ReplyDeleteI noticed this too
DeleteIt is encouraging to see this video. There are so many of us who share this struggle.
ReplyDeleteI laughed at this clip, eggs with cheese on top and bacon is actually healthy. Turkey bacon is lower in fat than pork. The unhealthiest thing was the biscuits. The grains should of been soaked and milled at home and the biscuits made from scratch. Probably the main reason Josh gained weight was because he stopped being so active. Although they definately needed more fruit and veg. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI do think this episode was staged with Steve; but for a good reason. Josh does need to take his eating choices seriously. However, I felt the show may have made Anna be placed in an uncomfortable position by pointing out all the unhealthy foods she has in her pantry. Anna probably cooks what she knows best and what her husband will eat or enjoys. Caring for three small kids alone most of the time and trying to prepare dinner could be challenging to her. Asking her to create new meals using foods she may not know how to prepare could add to her stress (albeit, she needs to cook healthier for herself and family).
ReplyDeleteEverything in the new season seams staged, the food thing with Steve, the conversation with Ben moving there. I like the good old natural stuff... when you can tell it's fake, planed and rehearsed it's never as good as being real.
ReplyDeleteThe kids knew what the vegetables were. Anna has been doing a wonderful job. I think the weight issue is uniquely Josh's. I think the pantry scenes are to show either sponsors or that they shop coupons and sales. They were raised on oranges, ground beef, tater tots and canned veggies. They were not raised on fresh vegetables and lean meats and fish. That costs a lot for families of 10 and 20.
ReplyDeleteWe eat loads of raw fruits and veggies. Make almost everything from scratch and eat NO sugar.
ReplyDeleteSome mention the stress Anna is under taking care of 3 by herself and then having to make healthy food!! Who has time!! so how is she supposed to do it with more babies that some of you think she should have! Give it a rest!
ReplyDeleteFresh veggies are easy. Wash and cut and eat raw. Great for snacking. Or wash cut and sauté. Or wash cut and stick in a pan with a steamer insert for minutes. If he doesn't eat it, then she won't make it. We have seen her and the little cook and mash sweet potato for toddler food. It's not always meals that add on pounds, but the snacking. That is all on him. And then there is portion control, again all on him. I will say no one needs that much protein for breakfast. But again that is portion control. It's fine for her to make eggs and turkey bacon. And cheese is fine too. It would be great to show him showing dad Josh how to make Sunday morning omelette with veggies so dad can make breakfast. Just like with kids if you make them part of the process they are more likely to eat it. It would be a wonderful service for him to do for the family. Add some whole wheat toast and or fruit and it's lovely. I think Anna does great.
ReplyDeletefirst I just want to say the duggars have never eaten healthy. they have eaten junk food and canned food all the time. their pantry if full of canned items. why dont they grow a garden and rise chicken they have a large enough land to do so and it would be less money on food. I think the show has become staged. plus this show is all about derrick and Jill and Ben and Jessa. We are geting tired of this. these shows are all staged and not real any longer. And the trust issues Michelle and Jim Bod have with their children has become very clear to the world.
ReplyDeleteFour words that don't belong together----Duggars and Healthy Eating. Just saying. When Jessa cooked chicken, green beans and rolls for Ben for lunch, did the rest of the Duggar's eat tator cat casserole and pickles?
ReplyDeleteI would like to know why the girls always seem to have to wear two shirts? What's with the double shirt look? It isn't always necessary IMO, as most of their tops aren't transparent in the least...if someone knows, please respond.
ReplyDeleteI think TLC should do an episode where the Duggars go green and eat organic for a week or so. Then people could see how astronomically expensive it would be for them to eat like that all the time and stop criticizing.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately I don't think the Duggars eat very well. When watching the show you see a lot of packaged foods and diet mainly based on meat. There are very little vegetables and fruit. I understand the costs factor after growing up in a big family and now living with many bills and medical school loans. However, I prioritize eating organic/vegetarian over other things when it comes to where my money goes. The better people eat, the healthier they will be. Eating right can prevent diseases including cancers and heart disease. I wish this show would stop advertising such unhealthy eating habits. After being in the medical field for many years it is very easy to see what a poor diet that is high in meat and packaged foods can do
ReplyDeleteOrganic fruits and vegetables are too expensive. I think they should eat fresh food. It would be cheaper for them to have a restaurant delivery truck once or twice a week deliver an order that probably Jana would have to make and they can deliver produce and meats. They would offer this large family a break on the price and they probably would spend much less than they do at a retail grocery store, purchasing 30 cans of soup for tater tot casserole, which is totally unhealthy to eat. They need to move away from the "combine and heat" prepared food recipes that they ingest.
ReplyDeleteActually their breakfast was pretty healthy. Fats do NOT make you gain weight, sugar does. And sugar comes from white flour, and some processed foods. So really the only "unhealthy" thing in their meal was the bread.
ReplyDeleteYes, they should eat healthy, but people should stop criticizing everything they do. I'm sure not all of us make the healthiest choices all of the time either. We're just not being watched by the world,
I think Jill can't help that she interrupts people a lot. Some people don't mean to, but they do maybe because they feel like they aren't being heard. And sometimes people interrupt, so they don't forget what they want to say.
ReplyDeleteThere is a limit to how many calories you should get from fat in one day.
ReplyDeleteThe plate had turkey bacon, turkey sausage, gravy made with animal fat, cheese another animal fat, eggs another animal fat but with enough nutrients to warrant any fat and biscuits made with refined sugar. The calories alone on Josh's plate should have been more than what he needed to get through the day except he would definitely eat at least two more meals AND none of the calories were from fruit or vegetables before maxing out on the daily calorie limit. He should have a lot more grain than the biscuit before hitting his max calories. I just wish they just had biscuit and gravy and fruit. Or eggs and two slice of bacon with berries. I understand them wanting a southern breakfast, they don't need every variation on one morning. But anna isn't his mom. What he puts on his plate is his business. Anna looks perfectly fit for someone in and out of pregnancies. I pay no mind to her tummy, I think it's a shame people are always claiming a bump when there may or may not be one. But look at her build and arms and face and you just can tell she is doing fine. And her kids are doing fine too. 2/3rds of people are overweight or obese. Josh wants to do better. Least he accepts tips with grace. I suspect it's the candy in the glove box and not so much the meals. He also has been living in a fish bowl for years, and has a family to care for. That is a lot of stress.
I think the double tops are to make sure the outer top does not ride up and leave an area exposed or that it doesn't expose armpits if they should raise their arms. Especially scooping down to pick up littles all the time. For the kids not all dresses cover the shoulders.
Anna (and all the girls) need to prepare healthy foods for their own livelihood. They do not have enough education to be able to support them and their large families if something were to happen to the men, Josh already had 3 of the 4 health risk markers and if something were too happen, how would Anna provide for all their kids?
ReplyDeleteWhen hunkered down in a houseful of children it probably was very comforting to make a supper of tater tot casserole, sautéed green beans and a yummy dessert like a no bake cheese cake. Maybe they should now write a book about why and how to revise your favorite good old home cooking diet. Could they every be sued for the recipes that could cause obesity? (just kidding)
