ReplyDeleteI'm curious when tank tops ( do not say those are capped sleeves) became modest in their household? Because according to their standards all these years, the cute clothes they are now wearing, are oh so different from what they've always described as modest. I'm just curious.
ReplyDeleteYou still have to admit, that her attire is still modest. Modern, but modest. I would hope the people who visit and comment on this site would not be so critical. They are living life as best as they can. They are not perfect, they are human. Accept them as such.

DeleteOne other thing I would like to say is that now that the daughters are getting married - they will have their own mindset as far as how they and their husbands deal with life. No longer daddy's little girls but married women. That will be very different for them I'm sure.

ReplyDeleteI think that you can define Jessa's shirt can be defined as a capped sleeve. It covers a good portion of the shoulder, unlike most tank tops.Thus defining it as a capped sleeve. The Duggar family is still extremely modest, they've just shifted into a more modern version of modesty. I find Jessa's outfit to be both cute, and modest. Also, the clothes they used to wear were tailored to that time. Outfits today are completely different than those of say, 10 years ago. Does that make sense? The Duggar girls have always been very classy, and modesty, and continue to do so. I hope this helps! -M.

ReplyDeleteI am glad to see modest, but lovely and modern choices with the girls as of late. No man should be dictating WHAT a girl wears as long as it is tasteful and modelst. Very pretty. It is nice to see some of the older rules being loosened up. At one point all women and girls looked like one another, even the Duggars. They are finding some distinctions now and still glorifying the Lord in all they do.

ReplyDeleteI have also been a bit curious lately about the clothes the girls are wearing. So different to how we saw them dressed in the early episodes of the show and even up to a couple of years ago. Sleeveless dresses and tops and skirts on or slightly above the knee these days. It doesn't bother me though because they are beautiful young women and why hide what God gave them. (By the way I am female - not some male ogling the girls :) )

the book 'a love that multiplies' states that jessa and jinger started their own 'duggars modern-modest clothing line'. since that was written a couple of years ago, i dont know if they are still doing it but i do like how they have been wearing more 'young adult' type clothing now that they are young adults.

I think they may begin to go by their own Modesty Standards as they get older. And that outfit is WAY more modest than what girls her age are wearing today. That's for sure!

ReplyDeleteYoung ladies do not need skirts as long as little girls because their actions are more refined. It has nothing to do with standards changing and everything to do with them not standing on their heads or rolling down hills. These girls are still amazing models of stylish modesty.

Although, they like to call it a "cap sleeve", Jessa's blouse in this photo is almost a sleeveless blouse (you can see her shoulder) and her skirt is just at knee length or even slightly above. Do the duggars still have the same modesty policies or have they made some recent changes? It's be nice if they provided an update on this:)

I think that she looks very modern and modest in this outfit. I wonder if everyone who has posted a comment ridiculing jessa for her outfit apply the Duggar modesty standard in their household. I don't, and don't see a problem with it. It's the world we live in. Grow up people. ReplyDeleteThere is totally nothing wrong with a guy wearing gym shorts. For heavens sake, they are knee length or below with an elastic waistband, and very cool in the summer and comfortable. Jessa is finally making a move in the real world with her dress. It is not immodest, IMO at all, and she finally looks stylish. As a previous poster wrote, what difference is it what she wears, as she promotes God and religion, having said that poster, why would it make a difference to God if the Duggars dress frumpy? It is a waste of their time with their "uniform".
ReplyDeleteThe important thing is that we dress in a way that pleases God because if we dress immodest and say we are a Christian and look like the world or worse I don't think we are being a good testimony by doing that if we are saved our body is the temple of The Lord and we need to please him with our attire, if we are saved we should stand out and look different than the world. ReplyDeletePeople are not being judgmental just because they observe and inquire about the Duggar family's modesty standards (especially since these are standards that the Duggars have set from themselves and chosen to discuss often on the show)! I think it's pretty natural for viewers to inquire about the family's dress standards and whether there have been any changes. And btw, just because someone wears pants, tank tops/sleeveless shirts, etc. doesn't make them immodest. I think a person's modesty standards are ultimately between them and the Lord (and if they have a spouse or are a minor, etc).
ReplyDeleteThe girls don't set their own courtship standards. Michelle said "daddy permits a side hug for coming and going and photos." That is not the girls setting the standard. That would be daddy. The peopple should be wearing what they feel good to wear. Both for the comfort and modesty. For some that is shirt with no sleeve, for some it's just making you can't see armpits.

ReplyDeleteI think all the Duggars standards of not showing the knee went out the door! I see Michelle is wear knee length skirts as well. They are at that length that can be considered what they once declared as immodest! On several episodes I noticed the girls with knees & a few inches of thigh showing! My 15 yr old son was the first to say " Nike" they really need to practice what they preach on the whole modesty issue...
ReplyDeleteI'm really getting sick of all the judgmental people on here. (Excluding those who are honestly curious about the Duggars stance on Modesty). It is not our place to judge these beautiful young women. They are grown women and can make their own decisions on modesty. And others are right, times are moving forward. The Duggars are proving that modesty can be both completely modest, and yet cute and modern at the same time. Surely we are above such judgement. I find Jessa's outfit to be completely modest, and cute at the same time. Honestly, one person's interpretation of modesty is going to be completely different than the next, that's just how it is. So what you find to be immodest might be completely modest to the next person.

I wish Jessa and Ben had more time to mature like Jill and Derrick. Being so young, and the hormones raging... it can be a confusing time for an immature inexperienced couple. They confuse that with ...."oh we are so in love." How do they know what they love? It's the excitement of playing grown up. They should both take a cold shower and gather more life experience. Jessa & Ben were together for a year (officially, they've actually been together longer than that), took the time to spend time together and nurture their relationship before getting engaged. Meanwhile Jill & Derek met over the internet, got engaged after just 3 months of courting, and quickly got married less than 3 months after that. They've barely even known each other a year. Just because they are older does not mean they are more mature to handle a relationship than Jessa and Ben.
I think this outfit is the most complementary that Jessa has ever worn. The color is great for her. It is also completely modest. She looks gorgeous. Some of you people seem to think she should post an outfit and ask you if she can wear it. Don't mean to be insulting, but come on!

I've seen quite a few comments different places about her makeup so I just thought I'd say THE WAY SHE DOES HER MAKEUP MAKES HER LOOK GORGEOUS! Wondering what led to the loosening up on the modesty rules. Also, I've never seen the girls wear their hair any way but down. Are they allowed to tie their hair back? Those Arkansas summers must be stifling.
