Less than two months after Jill and Derick's wedding and six days after Ben and Jessa's engagement, the Duggars have another major announcement to make...Jill and Derick Dillard are expecting! Grand-Duggar #4 is due in March. Details coming soon.
Derek and Jill I just couldn't be happier for you. Congratulations and not only your marriage 2 months ago now a baby coming. God is blessing you both and I am so happy that he is. God is so good. Congratulations on both again.
What wonderful news for such a great family! May God continue to pour out his blessings and promises to you all throughout your marriage and your pregnancy!! I can't wait to hear more!!
That's kinda sad... Don't they want to enjoy their married life for awhile before they bring a baby into the world? People usually wait around 2 years to have a baby, but LESS than 2 months is just crazy!! But I am very excited and extremely happy for the Dillard's and Duggars!! I hope it's a little girl!!
With all due respect Lauren, who says most wait two years? It's my humble opinion that it's up to every married couple to determine what is right, or "normal," for them... I have followed the Duggars since their very first special, and because I know they're too kind to their fans, and naysayers as well, to respond to comments like this, and because I've seen so many comments like this that I just really felt the need to speak up and say, no it's not wrong, and it's completely normal for a married couple to choose what's right for them, and by turning it over to God, conception may occur in the first month or the tenth, whenever it is, it's right. It's right because it's their intended path, determined by God, so how can I to say it's wrong?
And, btw, I was thrilled to hear the news! And my 13 year old daughter is too! What amazing young girls the Duggars are, and Derick too, we adore him. And congrats to Jessa and Ben!
Congratulations! How exciting!! I am so thrilled for you guys to be welcoming a new member to the family. So many exciting things happening. I have enjoyed watching your family grow and seeing the children evolve into beautiful caring adults. Thank you for sharing your lives, home, triumphs, tragedy and convictions with all of us.
Wow! I was not expecting this news to come this soon! If it is a girl, I hope that they name her Michelle Cathy or Cathy Michelle to honor both of their mothers.
it is wonderful news, and congratulations to them, but I wish they had waited longer to announce this news so that Jessa could have more time to have the focus of the attention be on her engagement to Ben..
Congratulations Derick and Jill! A blessing indeed. It may be because I'm also expecting but this news and announcement just had me tearing up. I can't wait to see glimpses of you as parents. I've been watching you, Jill, grow up on screen for years now and it is amazing to see you enter this next chapter. All the best :) God Bless.
Congratulations! Don't listen to those who are not happy for you, it's not their life anyway, it's a sad day that not everyone can be happy that a baby is on the way to happy, loving, God fearing couple!
Congratulations! So happy and excited for you all! Such an exciting time watching your family grow. Take good care of each other. Sleep now while you can! God watch over you and the baby! Much luv to everyone!
I knew as soon as i saw the picture of jessa and jill sitting in Jills kitchen. I thought she looked extreemly drained and exhausted and like she looked ill. I guss you could say she had the typical look of someone with morning sickness. Lol.
Congratulations Jill and Derrick!!!!!! May God continue to bless you throughout your married life!!!!!! I am the oldest in my family of ten and was born exactly ten months after my parents wedding; although I was two weeks overdue!! Children are a blessing from the Lord!!!! Congratulations once again, my prayers are going your way for a safe and happy pregnancy!!!!! :)
Agree! Especially since Erin (bates) Paine announced then unfortunately lost her baby. It's heartbreaking enough to God forbid lose a child but on such a public stage! I truly hope her pregnancy goes well! Poor jessa got overshadowed :-(
I was thinking the same, but then again i can remember being so elated that i just wanted everyone to know and i couldnt wait either. You just want everyone to be happy along with you.Sometimes you take that chance and just pray God will keep mother and child healthy.By the time we found out Jill is almost two months along, so that means it a honeymoon baby, how special:-)
When you marry you are open to becoming parents. A little early to announce, it's usually done at 12 weeks when most miscarriages happen. Not all, most. That way they don't have to tell the world if they had sad news. I think his mom should be very excited to hear this. I do hope Jill completes her midwife training if she hasn't already.
Lauren why cant you just be happy for them? They have said so many times that it isn't up to them that it is up to God when they become parents. Regardless of anything it is a new life. To others commenting on the 3 month thing, it is their decision to announce it now... not everyone is the same, some people do other's don't, they are excited, they are happy & that is all that matters.
No it's not sad!!! It's what God has asked of all married couples to do- straight from the very first couple Adam and Eve, in the book of Genesis.Genesis 1:28- "God blessed them; and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth."
AND that's just what Jill and Ben are doing, what they always have dreamed they wanted to do. Be married, to serve the Lord, raise a family and have children; which is the greatest blessing God can bestow upon any of us...They put God first, serve others second, then family & each other next...they are the epitome of how most people today really should be and I predict a long and very fruitful, happy marriage. God Bless them. =)
Hip hip hooray! God sure has blessed this family, what an exciting year it has been for this family, and even more to come:-) I cant wait! I always said that Jill will be the best mother, she is so loving, kind, and sweet, just like her mama:-) Best wishes, sending you love from Nebraska:-)
Whatever Michelle put in Jill's honeymoon kit, she received at her bridal shower, must have worked! Maybe Michelle can make more and market them. I honestly think they would sell like hot cakes.
I wish you the best. I just can't help but wonder why all the Duggar girls are expected to not use birth control and none of them have been allowed to have a college education. kinda sad.
Why do all of you who call yourselves Godly get so angry and hostile if someone does not agree with you... That's not of God. Jesus himself said turn the other cheek. We may not all agree but we still have our 1st amendment rights for now at least. Education is important for women also. God bless you Jill. I wish you the best.
As someone who lost two babies (before successfully having one and now 19 weeks along with another), I was always skeptical of announcing to anyone other than our family members before 12 weeks, but here's the thing: if, God forbid, she lost the baby, I truly believe there would be such an outpouring of support and prayers that it would make it easier for her. When we lost our babies, we felt so heartbroken and depressed, which was amplified by isolation because no one even knew what was going on! So I'm glad that she announced it this early, because now a world of viewers/readers (including me!) can pray for a safe, healthy, happy pregnancy!
Thanks for leaving your comments! We answer as many of your questions as we can, but due to the number of comments we receive daily, we are unable to answer every one. Our aim is to post all points of view, but we do not post anything that is profane, insulting, derogatory, or in poor taste.

ReplyDeleteIt's pretty early to be announcing, usually people don't announce until after the first trimester, when the risk of a miscarriage goes down.
ReplyDeleteI guess they're just too excited to keep it to themselves, it being their first child and all :)
