Marcus Duggar, the youngest child of Josh and Anna Duggar and the youngest grandchild of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, is nearly 14 months old. He was born in the Duggars' home state of Arkansas just weeks before Josh and Anna packed up and moved their family to Washington D.C.

ReplyDeleteThey are having children every two years so far. My guess is that as Anna gets older, she'll have longer spacing. So, my guess is 8 more. However, God blesses as he sees fit. . .

Marcus was born at a birthing center. When we said "He was born at home in Arkansas..." we were referring to the fact that he was born in the Duggars' home state of Arkansas just before Josh and Anna relocated to D.C. But we see how that could be misleading, so we reworded it. :)

ReplyDeleteI don't think any of the Duggars, or the Bates, children for that matter, will have 19. They have given hints about that, such as enjoying quiet time, pink bedrooms they longed for, and admitting they couldn't handle that many. I don't look for Josh and Anna to have but a few more. Anna is already having a very, very hard time navigating Washington with three. I think she realizes that until her little girl gets about 12 or so and can become a "Sister Mom" to help with the "little ones" in such a busy as a town as Washington, she is pretty much homebound without any help if she any more right now. Maybe that is why there is always an original Duggar girl at Anna's house. To help out already.

Given Anna's age of 26yrs and that She and Josh have already 3 children and Anna being the one who is quoted as being the one who does want a large family. I would say some where between 12 and 14 children on total , given the spacing between them now and her age. However there may come a point when they do decide to stop as I recall when Josie was born early that they said to each other " she too young / small" probably thinking that she had hardly a chance to survive - though we all know she did - a miracle ! - and what are the odds of that ?? But if that shocked them then they may take a step back when they are getting older, and revaluate where they are at and choose more wisely, depending on their circumstances at the time. So maybe they might have only 8 to 10 children in total. Really only God knows - as he holds the future.
ReplyDeleteI think they'll have many more including a set of multiples since it does run in the family! I think at least 12 total. As far as anonymous saying she feels sorry for Anna...why??? She's living a life she dreamed of and loves. She has stated on the previous show that other girls her age want careers but that she loves to be a homemaker. She has 3 beautiful healthy children who God has gifted her with and a husband who loves her and is wonderful. I personally admire her:-)

ReplyDeleteMarcus was born at a birthing center? It looked more like the midwife's house rather than a real "birthing center". I think that's a stretch of terms. Anna seems to have long, hard labors, and it would behoove Josh to spring a little $ for his wife and to be born child and take her to a real hospital. What is they run into an unexpected complication? There would be everything she would need to deliver safely. They are a real group of tightwads, IMO.

I think that they might have about 4 more. Not as many as Jim Bob and Michelle but still a lot. What do y'all think their names will be (sticking with their M tradition)? I think some might be Madison, Mabery, and McKenna! But I don't know! I know that however many more they have they will all be adorable!!!!!!!

ReplyDeleteMost midwifery centers are in a home like setting, but not the actual midwifes house. A hospital is not often the safest choice for a healthy birth. I am paying thousands of dollars extra for a midwife birth to avoid a hospital, as I have had terrible wrong done to me in the hospital setting. Anna was healthy, her baby was, a natural birth thus would be the safest healthiest birth. A midwife birth costs about $3500, a natural hospital birth without insurance $3500-$4000...not much of a difference.

I would not be surprised if they gifted with many more over the years since Anna seems to do so well with her pregnancies.

If women should have as many as the Lord wills, a whole lot more women would be having children like the Duggars vs. them being this rare family of so many children. You would all be practicing it too.

ReplyDeleteI don't think that EVERY Duggar child should have so many kids. It's up to them and their spouse. They shouldn't push to have more just to carry on a family "trait" or what have you. I think maybe 5 (so 2 more) at the most. But it's weird saying that they would have 12 more! As Parent's I am sure it's hard for them to look THAT far into the future. The whole "Leave it in GOD'S hands" thing is wonderful, but that doesn't mean that you have to just keep having children until you have menopause or your just tired. If 3 is enough, 3 is enough. There is no pressure to set a family "record". It's really up to YOU AND YOUR SPOUSE to decide because it takes TWO to make ONE {baby}!
