Gil and Kelly Bates and their 19 children appeared on ABC Nightline last night to give an update on their family and show footage from Alyssa Bates' wedding. The segment is embedded below.
Only part 2 worked for me. I LOVE the Bates Family. John Webster is a nice looking guy, Alyssa is beautiful. So many love stories and growing pains too. Thanks for sharing; it was the highlight of my day and it makes me feel very special that all that effort was made to share with the public too.
8 more girls too go for Mr. Bates. and 8 for Mr. Duggar. I wonder who will make it down the aisle first Jessa or Micheal. It's interesting about how they do things in gender specific ways and I know at least the Duggars aren't that strict on the girls cooking and such because there has been episodes about How Jessa doesn't like too or just doesn't cook that often, but it will be interesting to see how the family especially the Duggars handle it when the older girls marry and move out because then the next girls besides Joy Anna are still pretty young.
It was nice to see Brandon in part two. and it's interesting to see how the Bates Courting rules are different then the Duggars as we see Micheal with her arm looped through Brandon's. I believe on her blog once Mrs. Bates said all the kids set their own courting rules which I believe is something the Duggars have said too but the Bates seem a little more relaxed about what rules to make when it comes to hand holding and such for Courting couples.
The Webster-Bates wedding was even more beautiful on the video than on the photographs. Congratulations to John and Alyssa and I wish them a good future full of love and happiness! The Bates family is just so very marvelous! It is a real treat for a Bates video to be aired. I love the way they decorate and embellish and make everything so sweet and homey. Gil and Kelly are the best of parents.
from: Kessehu I love both of these families so much. And adore everything they stand for. Watching their shows has inspired me to think about how I would raise my future family if God blesses me with a husband and children. And to try and treat my family with more respect and give my mom tips for her youngest children still at home.
Can I tell you how excited I am that she said she is not going to have as many children as God sends? That shecan't handle20 kids? I think it isa great thing what the Duggars and Bates have done with their families, but not every person could handle that and still be a good parent, good job being self aware Alyssa!
Glad to know how the Bates are doing in this video. It's funny that they have given away three children (one more than the Duggars). I hope to see scenes and pictures this season on 19 Kids and Counting of Alyssa's wedding and Zach's too.
Thank you! Now I can watch it again. I wish the segment with the Bates had been longer and the cheerleading section shorter - or better yet I wish the whole episode had been about the Bates! :)
So enjoyed watching this, thank you for posting. These two wonderful families are so loving. It is fun to see all of those newlyweds forming new families.
Love and miss the Bates.I wish their were someone like Lily and Ellie who could run a successful blog about them too. I want to apologise to Lily and.Ellie, I have been getting upset about some of the comments making it through. I guess I really dont know much about.running a blog and what all goes into it.You ladies work very hard for us fans and i realize that you know best. I know you are fair and we need all sides to be successful, I just need thicker skin for when I hear such harsh criticism about this family whom i love and adore. Thanks for all you do. I dont think the average person really knows how much effort and time it takes to do what you ladies do for us, thanks again and Godspeed:-):-):-):-)
too the person wondering about a blog for the Bates Kelly does run her own Bates blog that she is really good about updating and Erin and Chad and Zach and Whitney have their own Blogs not sure if Alyssa and John have one yet.
I really like how Alyssa's answers to the interviewer didn't sound scripted. It's ok to say hey growing up with 20 people around you all the time means you have no privacy! When she asked how many kids Alyssa wanted, Alyssa gave her honest thoughts! I feel like the Duggars never do that. They have their lines memorized. Maybe being in the spotlight MUCH longer has made that a necessity I don't know.
You do such a fabulous job keeping up with this blog. I appreciate the things that you mention about the Bates family even with this blog being about the Duggars. Do you know any blogs that are dedicated to the Bates family with the same integrity as this one?
I thought the special on the Bates Family was done wonderfully. You can tell that Jiu Jiu (the ABC News reporter) has a special connection with that family and it is so nice to see that.
Thanks from me, too, Lily and Ellie! Checking the Duggar Blog every week is something I greatly anticipate! The Duggars and Bates live by principles that a lot of the world doesn't understand, yet, look how much love and happiness is in their lives. These families are doing something right, that is plain to see! Sure these families will have their trials, but just think of the worldly issues that they DON'T have, because they endeavor to live by Christian principles and limit their exposure to the world's influence. It was interesting to me how Alyssa is now on Twitter...but, as I think about it, she is an adult, with firmly held values, convictions, and beliefs. I can't help but think she is at a point in her life where she can handle this sort of thing, without falling prey to some of the choices and temptations that some celebrities do. I will be interested to see how all the children react to the world, as they leave their sheltered environments and head out into the world. Hopefully, they will remain steadfast to what they have been taught. Truly, they are an encouragement to me in my walk of faith and you two bring a lot of joy to the lives of many (certainly me) who look forward to seeing these families live, learn, and grow by their beliefs. I check the blog whenever I need encouragement and a smile. Of course, I love all the news about the older kids starting to find and marry their mates (I love watching everyone pitch-in to put the weddings together WITH a budget!!!!), but I especially love the pics of the beautiful children and families that the Duggars and Ben are ministering too, on their mission trip. It's a real joy to see people making a difference in the lives of others. God Bless and please know that I count YOU two among MY blessings. The changes to the Blog look fantastic and I love the way you guys are always improving it and making additions. I CANNOT WAIT for the new season of "19 Kids...." so the blog is getting me through! :0)
Love the Bates family SO much!!! There so genuine it's refreshing. "You're hard as a rock" LOL SO CUTE! I also love how the kids really do seem to make there own rules for there relationship. Like Erin and Chad only held hands for pics until there engagement Michella and Brandon where touching in there courtship pics and stuff..... it's just nice to see them walk the talk. So glad for all the new Bates couples. I feel bad for the other kids missing there siblings. Anyways I just love this family! Kelly's blog is www.thebatesfamily.com and go to family updates.
People are so crazy I know many families who have left it to God and have between 4 and 8 kids!! If you leave it to God u might get 4 or 20!!! Don't over scrutinize everything they say. Get over it, and let GOD PLAN PARENTHOOD! And quit being so not picky!
Thanks for leaving your comments! We answer as many of your questions as we can, but due to the number of comments we receive daily, we are unable to answer every one. Our aim is to post all points of view, but we do not post anything that is profane, insulting, derogatory, or in poor taste.
