Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald, on their way to Central America
The Duggars have a heart for the people of Central America and have gone on regular mission trips with S.O.S. for the past several years. Jim Bob and Josh were the first to go, and when they returned home, Jim Bob knew this was something he wanted all his children to experience. According to father of 19, S.O.S. mission trips are life changing.
Jessa looks so much like Michelle Trachtenberg. It's an art to put make-up on well, she certainly has mastered it. While I respect her wish to wear this type of heavy make-up I found it easier to relate to her and the Duggar Family convictions when she had a more natural look.

Also it seems a bit too much responsibility for Jinger to be the only chaperone going. Anyway at least Ben and Jessa will get to spend time together so I am sure they will have a good time.
ReplyDeleteI think this is wonderful. It's a good thing when you see how other parts of the world live. It's also a great thing when two adult people who are in a relationship can see each other for 12 days with only Jinger as a chaperone. Finally real contact.

I know that missions are important to the whole Duggar family, and without knowing whether or not Ben has ever had a similar opportunity, it will certainly be a wonderful learning experience for this courting couple. Perhaps this could bring the two one step closer to knowing whether or not this courtship will blossom into a marriage.

DeleteI see a few comments talking about all her makeup and how she looks best with a more natural look although i completely agree with you all, I cant help but feel that the way the fan view any type of "child star" or "child celebrity" the public just doesn't want to see them grow up. I noticed this quite a bit in hollywood . Even though they are a wholesome christian family they are still famous celebrities and it must be tuff for the girls with all eyes on them and still being modest and in a way they must be perfect role models ! Must be tuff maybe we should give her makeup wearing some slack, shes just experimenting with her looks like all us women do especially at her age. Love this blog!!!

ReplyDeleteDidn't Jessa want to be a beautician when she was a youngster? Her interest and experimentation with makeup is probably just her thing. I really hope is does not stem from being in the spotlight and the subject of so much scrutiny by fans. She is a beautiful girl inside and out. I wonder how JB and Michelle keep their kids grounded with so much media attention. Good for Jessa and Ben to server together and sweet Ginger too - hope they have a positive experience together.

I respect the duggars so much so this is why I am putting this. I do think jessa would look as beautiful more natural looking makeup and maybe hair wouldn't always be right there! Know what I mean? Hair can look as pretty and feminine without alway being in front on the shoulders. I am saying this because I respect them and am making known an honest thought and suggestion. I want to see them with natural or no makeup. I bet the would be breathtaking. (Which they already are ;)

ReplyDeleteI think people are only thinking it is one chaperone....its not...its other people on the mission trip,its probably a camera crew, its themselves they have to be accountable for and accountability to God. I think people need to trust them more...if there parents do that's good enough. And whats with all the Judging....on them going on the trip and her make-up....last I read we are not supposed to judge.... anywho....I hope they enjoy there time I know the people will be blessed to have them there. They do make a cute couple and I am hoping to hear wedding bells for them in the future...but honestly no rush...enjoy the time being and trust it is in Gods timming

Good to see Jessa and Ben can share a family tradition but her expression does not look like one of excitement , more like an obligation on this one. I hope she learns from this and opens her heart a little wider. I am sure it is simply a youth thing. I think it is great to have them both out of their natural element to grow closer and learn about each other.

ReplyDeleteI'm torn about the Duggars mission trips. I believe they go with a sincere heart wanting to help but not sure if they are using their resources after years of going to the same mission the best way. I went on my first mission trip at age 17 with my church. I was just asked to pay for my plane ticket, take a 1 month class beforehand on learning the language, culture and some skills needed for projects. It was 2 weeks of exhausting physical work helping in a clinic and school. I never once brought up religion, just helped with teaching basic skills and building projects. The SOS minstires trips are very expensive and seem focused on bringing the word of God more then service project that will make a lasting impression. While I do think each Duggar child should go once to see a 3rd world country, going every year and spending 20k or more I feel like that money could fund a clinic or school and be used better for the people in need. Handing out toys, candy, taking pictures, and handing out religious items might make for a happy day but not a long term solution like building a school, clinic, or sponsoring a doctor, nurse or teacher to live in the community.

ReplyDeleteI really like the Duggars and the Bates families. In this last day, the Lord is using both families. The Duggars are human beings. They have faults just like any family would have. The difference with my family, the Duggars and the Bates they are in the spotlight. I'm thankful for these two godly families and I pray for them. I think the total is up to 60,000 women and children have crossed the border to live in safety in the US. I hope they will all stay safe!

I am shocked at how many assumptions there are over a photo. Let's remember that Jessa, Ben and the rest of the family have feelings. May many lives be changed as they go on this trip. ReplyDeleteI do not think the public own the Duggars but the family does do better financially because they are on television. Television means viewers. When the Duggars claim they have certain values and this is much of the content of books and public appearances then the public will look to see how they live out those values in their lives. If the public perceives inconsistencies then they will say hey wait a minute that is not what I expected...then tension is created and some people think that if the public openly criticizes the family that they will shut their doors and blinds and we will never see them again. OurThis society is so hungry for lived Biblical values it is amazing!
