One of these photos looks like Jim Bob baptized his son. During their trip to Israel he also baptized Amy. Is he an ordained minister? I thought only an authentic minister of the Gospel, reverend or priest can baptize. Is Jim Bob a minister? When did this happen? What Divinity School did he attend and graduate from? Who ordained him? Does anyone know? Thank you.
In our church our pastor actually prefers people who had an active role in the person getting baptized coming to Christ baptize them which can be a friend, Sunday school teacher, parent ect. Some church's may have strict rules about it but it's not necessarily biblical but rather a tradition the church has embraced. I don't think Jim Bob is ordained.
happy 13th birthday james it hard to belive that james is 13 years old now and next year he be 14 years old and he be getting his driver permit ~brittani
Happy Birthday James! I can't believe your a teenager now! It seems like just yesterday i was watching you when you were a little toddler and now you're a teenager. Anyways have a fantastic day with family and friends.
The quote on the wall in the first picture is one my mom said to me but it was shorter and more generally applicable - the good can be the enemy of the best - this one seems to be about personal productivity or outcomes of goals. I like this version of the quote it applies to us everyday. James is a fortunate young man to be one of the wonderful Duggar family. Happy Birthday to James!
*Side note-Joy looks so much like Jessa in that 2nd from the top photo!! Such a beautiful family. Love watching their show. Wish it would be on more. (But if I need a fix I watch older episodes on Netflix)
You have grown up so quickly and are full of inspiration at such a young age and will have a wonderful future continuing to shine brightly. All the best & our prayers are with you.
This is a comment to respond to the question about who can baptize another person. Go to http://www.gotquestions.org/baptize-who.html It is also my understanding that a person who has no credentials can baptize another person. This was taught by an elderly Jesuit priest in the Catholic church at an RCIA class i.e. - The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA). If this happens, when people join various churches those churches may baptize people into their community of believers again. I do not think there is a restriction on who can baptize, and people should baptize others - but there is a limit to how much ongoing faith various people will put into some baptisms. My daughter was baptized into the Catholic church but attends a different protestant evangelical church now. After attending there for awhile she went through the churches faith life classes and was baptized at that church too, so she believes she is a full fledged member there now. I think this was a good question. I hope my answer provided some helpful information. Different churches and people will probably have different ideas about baptisms.
Happy birthday James! :-) His grin is so big, so different looking from the rest of his siblings, yet still has the Duggar look. What a handsome young man.
Re: the baptism: thank you for your response, but I am catholic and any baptized catholic may baptize someone in an emergency if death is imminent and the patient is an unbaptized catholic. this is not the case with Jim Bob. I believe that an ordained minister is supposed to baptize; is Jim Bob an authentically, real ordained protestant, evangelical, or other Christian minister? If so, what divinity school or real seminary did he attend, graduate and "get ordained" from? If not, my belief is that these baptisms are not official. Please update me as to what his credentials are. Thank you, anyone out there who knows,
Also, I understand that Jim bob does not belong to any congregation, but runs his own Sunday worship service out of a building on his property. So, how can he baptize in the name of any congretation with an actual minister?
