Before proposing to Jill, Derick had country sing/songwriter Walker Hayes perform a special song that he wrote about the couple's relationship. The song is called "When He Made You" and is available for purchase on Amazon U.S. and iTunes.

The song is actually good. The video to the song at the end of the proposal episode was special too.
ReplyDeleteanyone know why the proposal episode isn't on amazon yet?
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazingly thoughtful way to propose. Best wishes to Jill and Derick.
ReplyDeleteAs a devout Christian, I won't be buying the song (this man has many songs with questionable lyrics), but this is one example that shows the Duggar younger generation will broaden the horizons of the family and they will accept people into their lives that are less than their model of perfection. I think with Derick's mother to mime, Jill will become a stunning woman with a model to follow. Michelle has done a great job with her kids, but Michelle herself is most certainly not a style icon.
ReplyDeleteThe link for Amazon U.S. actually takes you to iTunes. The link for iTunes takes you to Amazon. Also, the one on Amazon doesn't give you the entire song. I already purchased the song when I found that out, but luckily it was only .99 cents.
ReplyDeleteYay!!!!! Thank you so much, Lily and Ellie!!!!! I was wondering what the song was called and where I could get it. So thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!! Also do you know what the song was called when the whole Duggar family sang at the Duggarf Family Theater? If you could answer this question it would be VERYmuch appreciated!!!!!
ReplyDelete~Brooke~
I don't understand... John Webster and Alyssa (Bates) engaged in a full on hug when he proposed... Bates getting more laxed? I thought they were stricter than the Duggars?
ReplyDeleteLily and Ellie,
ReplyDeleteI was looking at Kelly Bates' post of Zach and Whitney's wedding.... it appeared that they were on a dance floor... I thought that they didn't dance, like the Duggars?
Jill is so in love with derrick!!!!!!!!!!! I think Jessa's going to be engaged soon!!!!(: with ben seewald :) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 cant wait for the next episode to come on!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhen is the engagement video going to be online
ReplyDeleteI think the links are reversed! Thank you for posting! Loved the song, very sweet!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet song! Just to let you know your links are opposite. iTunes goes to Amazon and Amazon to iTunes:)
ReplyDeleteCurious if TLC will air the wedding live or how many days after. Do you all know? My daughter and I can't wait!! :)
ReplyDeleteYay! I really liked this song - very catchy! I was thinking how I wish it would be on iTunes or something so I could keep it. Now I can! Thanks for the info!
ReplyDeleteThey are just the cutest couple.
ReplyDeleteThe outfits each wore were good choices of ensembles. The bold scharf and the way it was tied was an excellent idea and looked great, Jill did herself up right on, so did Derick. Congrats!
ReplyDeleteNice blog, thanks for everything Lily and Ellie. Hope you got an invite to the wedding and reception.
ReplyDeleteAnd then they will live happily ever after....close the book, put it down, close your eyes and go to sleep, sweet dreams.
ReplyDeleteJill should have worn a slip. It was a white dress and you could see right through it in the outdoor light...NIKE!!!!!

ReplyDeleteI was hoping it would be available. So glad for Walker too, this should help his career! And be so special for Jill and Derrick. What a sweet idea of Derrick's, for the proposal. The Lord makes a win-win out of everything, for D & J, Walker and us!
Congratulations to Jill and Derick. What a blessing. So encouraging to see their relationship grow and to top it off a healthy relationship at that. Kuddos to Jill and her sisters for having the courage to share their views on healthy relationship. So many folks don't have that example in their lives. Thanks to the Duggar family for sharing this special time with the world.
ReplyDeleteI agree!

ReplyDeleteYes, it will be on the show! :)
What do I love? That Derick's mom wears the occasional pants, that Walker has shaggy hair, that the song was sweet and romantic, that Derick seems to embrace the world not hide from it. He is a great match for Jill and will open new doors for her.
ReplyDeleteLove the song! It brought tears to my eyes. Purchased it :-)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful song, it brought tears to my eyes! Congrats Jill :-)
ReplyDeleteLove this song. I just purchased it on itunes. Beautiful story. What a wonderful gift. God Bless!!!
ReplyDeleteWhy would anyone want to purchase someone else's "love song"? It isn't about YOU, it's theirs.
ReplyDeleteI bought it because it is heartwarming. Listening to it brightens my day, which is what good music should do. Most songs are written about other people and their lives, but that does not mean we can't relate to the lyrics.
DeleteYou and Derick have been added to my prayer list. My prayer is that the Lord would use your lives to exalt His name. You have already been a wonderful testimony to what God can do in a relationship if totally given over to Him and for His glory!
ReplyDeleteDerick and Jill are a shining example of Christian love. May the Lord bless and guide them as they get married.
ReplyDeleteWhy is it only a portion of the song that you can buy?
ReplyDeleteThe entire song is on iTunes. It is shorter than many songs which, I believe, was because it was written to be included on a TV show.

ReplyDeleteI agree with you. It's an awesome song - but's their song. Kathmandu isn't gonna be the story of many people.
I've been searching for written lyrics to their proposal song because I'd like to clarify a word I think I heard. Does he sing, "I had to ask for the chance to court you when your cow came in Kathmandu..."? What's the significance of the cow, or what's the word I misheard? Thanks!
ReplyDelete@Leah Renee
ReplyDeleteHi Leah,
Here are the lyrics to the song about Jill and Derick's relationship:
Verse 1
Well you grew up about 30, short minutes down the street
But we had to go 8000 miles away, to meet.
I'm not sure what the Lord was thinking,
Taking us all the way to Kathmandu.
But I know he was thinking of me when he made you.
Verse 2
The letters and the phone calls were more than enough
To prove His hand had long been writing the story of us
Had to ask for the chance to court you, when your cab came in Kathmandu
Cus' I knew he was thinking of me when he made you.
Bridge
When he made you
It's obvious He was
Thinkin' of me,
And that we were meant to be.
Verse 3
Standin' here in our home town, where we grew up without a clue.
We'd fall in love with our next door neighbor, in Kathmandu.
I'm amazed by the good Lord's ways, and I'm praying that you think:
He was thinkin' of you when he made me.
~Lily and Ellie
I love watching you and your family, I pay that you have a wonderful happy marriage and are blessed with many many healthy happy loved children. God bless you and your young family. And many congratulations on your marriage and pregnancy.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this song! When they played it on the show I could have cried it was so sweet!
ReplyDeleteThis was an absolutely beautiful song! It definitely brought tears to my eyes! What's ironic is me going to school, same grade and all, with one of the background guys, "Mark D.". It truly shows how small this world is! Him and his family are musically amazing. :) It took a couple times to watch this and catch who it was. It was so neat to see someone do great from our tiny school! All of you, take care! Happy 2015!
