In the above photo, Jill and Derick recreate their first kiss, a romantic "dip," during a photo session after the wedding.
Jill told PEOPLE Magazine that the kiss was "worth the wait."
After getting to know each other as friends for several months, Derick and Jill courted for four months and were engaged for three months before tying the knot. They waited until engagement to hold hands and saved all other physical aspects of their relationship until they were husband and wife.
"You can really get to know each other on every level without the physical part of it," Derick, 25, told PEOPLE Magazine. "I am the most blessed man to have Jill."

Congratulations to the happy couple. May God bless y'all with many more happy years together.
ReplyDeleteThats awesome but rushing into marriage just to do those things isn't good either come on 4 months! and lets get married? Im going get alot if hate for my comment but 4 months seems super fast for taking such big step in life. Even professional phycolgists say that a person takes 3 -6 months before a person starts to show the true them. Especially with cameras around they are on their best behavior. Good for her but you would think a family with such high standards would know to wait a tad longer.
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I only knew each other for 6 months when we got engaged and were only engaged for 3 months. We've been married for 11 years. It's amazing how we'll you can get to know someone when you focus on other things and not the physical stuff. :)
DeleteThey courted for 4 months and then were engaged for 3 months, not to mention that they had already met in person before Derrick returned from Nepal last fall.
DeleteThey knew each other as friends for a few months, then courted for 4 months & engaged 3.. That's over a year before getting married!! Don't be so quick to judge when you don't have all the facts for one, two.. There's a lot of marriages that have stood the test of time after a short courtship or dating..
DeleteYou can see these two were meant to be!!
This is the most astounding, beautiful, wonderful, incredible thing I have read in a long time. I truely wish more people in america had more love and respect for each other to wait like this. This couple has represented true modesty and values in every way that more people need to follow! God bless this lovely couple and may they have Iife long happiness and love because of their choices.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful couple! I plan to save my very first kiss for on my wedding day! Her dress is gorgeous! Hope they have been enjoying their honey moon! I'm sure all of the duggar family misses Jill dearly! Have they found where they are going to live yet? Wherever it is I'm sure it will be a beautiful home! Do yo know if they are going to live in Arkensaw for the time being? Thanks lily and Ellie for all your hard work for this site and for all the updates!

ReplyDeletesuch a beautiful photograph on a beautiful day!
ReplyDeleteThat is one of the most gorgeous wedding pix ever! The 3 crosses & the way she is entrusting his hold on her. Just beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a beautiful picture
ReplyDeleteWow! What a stunning photo, right down to the way her veil has flounced out. If this is the result of allowing People exclusive rights, then I say, great decision. I am wondering though if Scott Enlow took photos that day. He has done a beautiful job photographing this family over the years, I have often thought about Scott and his wife over this past year ever since that heart wrenching story of their harrowing experience in China when their daughter was born unexpectedly on the trip.
ReplyDeleteanon #2, dont forget that they were skyping for several months and before that, they spoke on the phone. they became friends first, which is an awesome way to get to know someone! obviously they both felt the same for/about each other or derick wouldnt have asked jim bob if he could court jill once they met in nepal. and remember, jill went to nepal because she thought she was in love with someone she never met! why wait when you know its right?! now they get to share their lives together, longer!
ReplyDeleteSo happy for them
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteHi Thats another thing they are not supposed to fall in love until they court. and she already loved him before they even met!? but yet they wont do as they preach whats in the in the latest book!

Sweetest wedding picture ever! Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThat is a gorgeous photo!
ReplyDeleteAs a photographer myself I just absolutely love this shot ! Its perfect. Beautiful shot of the couple, crosses to the right and Gods shining light coming down on them ! Love !!!
ReplyDeleteThe crosses are very real. They reside at Cross Church in both Springdale and Rogers, Ark, megachurch wereby the pastor of said Churches gets a police escort from Springdale to Rogers for each service. Ronnie Floyd is the pastor and often preaches in 1K dollar cowboy boots, custom made suits or $200 DESIGNER jeans. He lives in Pinnacle Pointe in a 2 million dollar home.

A beautiful picture! It fills my heart and soul with good spiritual feelings like peace, hope, joy, love, faith, the cross .... many things. It is a real life true representation of Jesus and his bride the church. Jesus must be getting the world ready for his return and that may be very soon!
ReplyDeleteI know someone who said they do not even want to become a so called end times prepper anymore; because instead they just want to prepare for the return of Jesus and be ready to be taken up in the rapture. The Duggars are playing a part in sharing God's love for people and God's plan of redemption with the world. This is the most important message to the world! I am impressed that now God has given this beautiful love story example to us all. It gives me hope and encouragement and I pray I can be ready for the return of Jesus in glory and be taken up with the raptured Church!
I ❤️ Derek n Jill together! You can see they're meant to be!! I hope we get a peak into their lives now that they're out in their own!! Beautiful photo also..
ReplyDeleteI am wondering if anyone in the family works or has a job. The pictures only show them having
ReplyDeletefun. Does the family do mission trips or ministries anymore. I also miss seeing the Bates
family and their life. Thank you
how well can you know somebody when you only skype?thanks anonymous#2 and #25 agree with you both!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful picture! Congratulations, I wish you all the best :) Rita
ReplyDeleteWhat is works for some people does not work for others. When you know you know. I wish and pray nothing but the best for Jill & Derick.
ReplyDeleteno - the three crosses ar on the lawn of Cross Church
ReplyDeleteCongrats to the happy couple I wish you many blessings in lIfe
ReplyDeleteThen what is the point of getting married if you don't kiss.
ReplyDeletegetting married isn't about kissing its about commitment. I totally agree with them not kissing until their wedding day its kind of smart if you ask me.
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I met and married within 3 months. 30 years later he is still the love of my life. BTW, my parents were married 3 days after they met. They were together 48 yrs before they passed away.
