"We were so excited to offer Jill a package that we regularly provide to brides, called a 'Princess Treatment,' said Christy Stutzman, co-owner of Ava Laurenne Bride. "It's a very girly, special and sweet time every time we do it."
Christy and her sister, Wendy Rivera, also a co-owner, had to keep the details of Jill's dress under wraps until the wedding. "The secret was safe with us!" said Wendy.
The dress was an Allure Romance gown with Swarovski crystals and a chapel length train. Rivera and seamstress Moni Reeise added lace from a veil to create straps and to fit Jill's vision of a dress that was modest but elegant.
"She wanted something modest, but not predictable," said Wendy. "It fits like a glove. It is perfection."
In addition to altering Jill's dress, Rivera also performed the song "The Prayer" at Derick and Jill's wedding, accompanied by her husband Gabe.
See footage of Jill's experience at Ava Laurenne Bride on the next season of 19 Kids and Counting.
In the following YouTube video, Michelle Duggar discusses Jill's bridal gown with Wendy. Keep an eye out for Josie, who is featured in the video wearing her own princess dress for her role as flower girl.
"She has been begging to put it on since she got it," Michelle Duggar told PEOPLE Magazine.
Michelle speaking about "bling" was funny.
ReplyDeleteMichelle is so classy ! thanks Michelle for being a Christ like example for me.
ReplyDeleteJosie is so cute in her dress !!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness!!! I live REALLY close to Fredericksberg!!!!!!!! (Bealeton Va. To be exact. Not so close but a little bit :) I cant wait to see her whole dress! But from what I see it looks georgeous. Just like Jill :) I am so Happy for them! They are a beautiful, godly couple. God Bless!!!!!
ReplyDelete~Brooke~
Hi Lily and Ellie, I know this is a little off topic but where do the duggar girls get all of their skirts?
ReplyDeleteIts nice how the dress is modest....its really pretty. I love josies dress. Its so cute on her.
ReplyDeleteDid the Duggars adoped or as thata gest? there was s meny cars
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for that lovely interview~ Just love Michelle... what an enthusiastic and loving mom. Love the whole family!
ReplyDeleteWhy did she not go to Klein fields like michelle
ReplyDeleteMICHELLE ACTED LIKE SHE DIDNT KNOW WHAT BLING WAS? COME ON NOW SHE HAS EVERY IDEA WHAT IT IS. LIKE YOU PEOPLE TALKING TO WOMAN IN TAPE HERE WHAT DOES SHE MEAN BY YOU PEOPLE? KINDA RUDE I THOUGH MARYANNA TROYER HUNTSBURG OHIO
ReplyDeleteMichelle did not say "you people." I agree that term can sound rude at times, but Michelle was very polite throughout this entire conversation. It is my belief that she said " you girls" referring only to the ladies who work at the bridal store. Her terminology was not offensive or rude in the least, and certainly the woman with whom she was spreaking found it very acceptable.
DeleteWHAT DID MICHELLe mean by saying "you girls call it BLING"? am sure she knows what BLING IS, also YOU GIRLS kinda wrong wording to use thats like saying "YOU PEOPLE" what people? just my comment.
ReplyDeleteI am 55 years old, living near Washington, D.C., and I never heard the word "bling" until the movie "The Bling Ring" was released two years ago! Since the Duggars do not watch movies, I find it very reasonable that Michelle had not heard this term until shopping for her daughter's dress.
DeleteDid she say that she does not like Michelle?! "Not one of my favorite people in the whole world."... How rude!
ReplyDeleteShe said that Michelle is "now" one of her favorite people in the world. I found both women in the video to be unfailingly polite, and appreciate that they made it so we can hear a little more about Jill's beautiful dress!
DeleteI love her dress its modest but also modern,I can't wait until the wedding episode comes out.
ReplyDeletewhy did she go all the way to virginia?
ReplyDeleteIt was reported online that, after his move to D.C., Josh learned that this bridal store offers a three to four hour private, after hours, shopping session designed to make a bride feel very special. He felt this would be perfect for Jill and recommended this store to her. This would give Jill privacy that she would not receive in any other store, particularly Klienfelds, so I understand why she chose to travel to Virginia for this experience.
DeleteThere is a page or two in PEOPLE magazine on the wedding with pictures. Everything was beautiful!!! There pictures of the cake, outfits, Jill and Derick's first kiss, and more.
ReplyDeleteWhen my daughter got married we looked everywhere for a dress - all were very revealing. She finally ordered a dress online from a Morman wedding dress website and saved hundreds of dollars over what we seen locally. And it had SLEEVES! Sad that modest dresses are so hard to find.
ReplyDeleteI believe she meant people in the wedding industry. Come on give her a break she had to be very tire after Jills wedding, mom do a lot more behind the scenes than people realiaze. I love the show can't wait to see the wedding! Beth :)
ReplyDeleteI don't get the all caps. lol
ReplyDeleteLoved it.
ReplyDeleteI'm happy for the Duggars but lately they seem so into material things! My kids observations were the same! So much into themselves & tv savvy.
ReplyDeleteGood grief...
DeleteI am the eldest of seven girls in my family, all of whom are married, as I am myself. The Duggars are acting exactly as my family did when I was married, and when each of my sisters married. This is a very special time, not only for the bride and groom, but also for the entire family. Excitement is normal. Also, weddings do cost money. If a family can afford to spend money as the Duggars did for Jill's wedding, I believe this is well spent and the memories will last a lifetime! One of my sisters chose to wear a $6000 bridal gown made by Vera Wang. Although my own gown was much less expensive, I certainly did not begrudge my sister her choice. She had worked hard for many years as a producer at Fox News and could easily afford to buy this dress. I am only concerned when a family chooses to go into debt to pay for a wedding, but clearly the Duggars did not do this. I am also very grateful that the Duggars have chosen to share this wedding, and their lives, on television.
DeleteI noticed that too!! Made a comment about it on another site, and ppl freaked out by my comment.. Really? Look back a few years.. They Wernt up with the times then, they are now in many ways!!
DeleteThis silly two-page People article is what all the waiting was for? I read it in the checkout line at Walmart. Finished it before I got to the cashier. Hope People didn't pay more than $1,000 for pictures I had already seen on the Internet.
ReplyDeleteThe photos online of the wedding were taken by People Magazine, although most posters failed to properly credit People.
DeleteCome on, it was an innocent statement when she said,"You people"...Always nitpicking, chill if u will, no big deal, it was a sweet, lovely piece of video. Thanks for sharing.:-):-):-)
ReplyDeleteI cant wait to find out where they went on their honeymoon.I wonder if it was an international trip or like Josh and Anna's. I hope People magazines article comes out soon so everyone else that has pics and info can get released soon after.
ReplyDeleteIsn't she just Jill Dillard now & not Jill Duggar Dillard? I think we know who you're referring to without using the Duggar name. Also, I'm with that other person, they seem a bit materialistic lately. What with the manicured nails & the pricey bridal gown. Whatever happened to buy used & save the difference? I guess that's no longer a concern with their current bank account. I wish them all the best but really hope they stay rooted to their beliefs.
ReplyDeleteEvery bride that I know does her nails for her wedding. The Duggar girls, including Jill, did their own nails using a nail kit given to them. (There is a photo available online showing several girls holding this kit and thanking its manufacturer.) But, if they did choose to use a salon, there is nothing wrong with that! The only time I have ever had a professional manicure was the day before my own wedding! Also, Jill's gown retails for about $1,000, which is toward the lower end of bridal gown prices. And I think that it is likely that the Duggars did not pay full price for this gown in part because of the publicity that the bridal store has received from this sale. This would certainly fall into line with their policy of saving on purchases. Even a family that usually buys used will buy new occasionally, and there is no better reason to buy new than the very special occasion of a wedding in the family! Their many years of buying used, and saving the difference, enabled them to buy new now.
DeleteThank you for the report on Jill's wedding dress and the video! I can't wait for next season's episodes featuring wedding preparations and the wedding itself!
ReplyDeleteDid that lady say Michelle is not her favorite person? I played it over and over and it sounded like that is what she said. That's rude to say to someone's face, especially while recording. She said she wasn't her favorite person then said "sorry sweetie". RUDE!
ReplyDeleteIt may have sounded like she said the word "not," but she actually said the word "now!"
DeleteI too was disappointed in the people spread....2 pages, most pics we already saw on the Internet and the pic of the whole family was so small you need a magnifying glass to see the little ones. I really hope jessa does not follow suit...its not fair to loyal fans to feel left out and have to wait so long for a few good shots of the wedding.~Stacy
ReplyDeleteI believe Mrs. Duggar was talking to the actual dress store owners which are younger then herself. So by saying "you girls" she is talking to the girls she is currently looking at in the interview. "Bling" might not be a common word for her, my mother didn't know what I was saying when I was describing the dress and she is about the same age! I believe she is genuine and has a wonderful Christian heart!!!
ReplyDeleteLet's remember that it is the Duggars' goal to bring the light of the gospel to an unbelieving world and share a Christian worldview. If they can do this through People Magazine, why do we care who sees what pictures when.
ReplyDeleteDid she say 9 more. She only has 9 daughters and with one down that's 8 more not 9!
ReplyDeleteSo cool! Jill's dress is SUPER pretty! Even though they dress modestly the Duggars make it look really cute! And OMGosh! Josie's dress is sooo cute! I love Josie Duggar!
ReplyDeleteDid she say "so I'm here with Michelle Duggar and she's not one of my like favorite people in the world..." I listened to it about 15 times hoping that's not what she said.. How rude!
ReplyDeleteSo sweet. :) It really warmed my heart to see Michelle so happy for her daughter. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHey guys, I don't usually, actually never post on things like this, I do however love the Duggar Family- I too am an active Christian and a strong believer in Christ. I love all the values that you set fourth and teach your children.
ReplyDeleteI feel sorry for the people who come up here and comment so negatively on such a loving/special day for your family. I do not think Mrs. Duggar meant any harm in what she was saying (" WHAT DID MICHELLe mean by saying "you girls call it BLING"? am sure she knows what BLING IS, also YOU GIRLS kinda wrong wording to use thats like saying "YOU PEOPLE" what people?") If you watch the video shes pointing to the lady from the Dress Shop and saying you girls as in them- call the glitter and sparkles BLING, clearly a word that they must have used when she was picking out the dress. I do believe that if the Duggars know what a word is, they would admit to it and not pretend they didn't. All the things that they admit, and share; you guys think she would care to hide her knowledge of the the word bling. Let her enjoy this time, her memory of her first engaged daughter picking out a wedding dress doesn't have to be something ruined by people who clearly take offense from nothing.
Duggars you are truly a model family! May God continue to bless your family!
She said "you people" as in the people at that bridal salon. I wish people weren't always so negative in their comments.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun interview. I can tell it was a great and exciting time for Michelle and the family, you can just hear it in Michelle's voice. By the way, when Michelle looked at the woman from the bridal shop and expressed her enthusiasm for the a little "bling" her reference to "you girls" was obviously addressed to the woman she was speaking with and clearly was intended to include the other women at the shop in an inclusive way. I saw nothing wrong with it, and it was nice o Michelle to acknowledge everyone there in a general way. In fact I thought it was a great little interview and I really enjoyed hearing a bit about the process they went through to buy the dress. I also loved the comment the bridal shop owner made regarding Michelle's positive demeanor during the time Jill tried on gowns. An excellent reminder of how important it is to be positive and encouraging which helps the bride make up and know her own mind. Very nice interview and a boon I am sure to Ava Lauren Bridal. Noticed the name of Jill's gown was Allure Romance, seems very fitting :)
ReplyDeletei heard that was just a tidbit of whats to come, that the main article is a big spread, guess we will wait and see.
ReplyDeleteSeriously some of these comments are pretty rude. Why is it that people who act like they hate the Duggars are always wasting thier time bashing them on their blogs and Facebook pages. If you don't like them, then why do you care so much? And to make up drama that she said "you people" try re-watching the video and you'll find that you are wrong, she said "you girls" which has nothing negative implied, basically meaning, "you girls who are experts on wedding dresses." If you would look past your hate for such a kind family, you would understand what she meant.
ReplyDeleteI think Jill was stunning bride - Lovely dress. Can't to see the wedding.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet, cute interview! You can tell they were both so happy about how everything turned out. Michelle is so happy for her daughter and obviously LOVED her dress :) I think Jill looked gorgeous! She was glowing!
ReplyDeleteAs far as the lady from the shop interviewing her, she was being completely sarcastic in a fun, joking manner. She obviously adores Michelle and in my opinion, wasn't trying to be rude at all. Some people just look into things too much.
My mother doesn't know what "bling" is either Michelle. No worries! No big deal :) It's a fairly new term that is used today.
Congratulations, Jill! You looked beautiful and more importantly married a wonderful, Godly man that God chose for you :)
Thank you for posting this interview. I loved it!!
Love and blessings,
Your fan from Louisiana :)
I am pretty sure what she said was that she was there with Michelle Duggar who is NOW one of her favorite people and that she was such a sweetie..........

ReplyDeleteHi Anonymous 5,
The girls get most of their skirts from thrift shops and off the clearance racks at other stores. They also shop online and recently ordered skirts from this website: http://www.lovemyjeanskirt.com/
~Lily and Ellie
went up in the world since annas wedding it was home made and looked it must be making more money from their shows
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see Jill and Derick's wedding. Looking forward to watching this family grow and all the children mature. What a sweet and loving family. So proud to be a Christian and have a show that the family is able to watch that at all times can be rated G..Thank you Duggars for allowing us into your lives for this tiny and minuscule glimpse of day to day living. You do it with such humility and grace. God Bless.
ReplyDeleteNice interview, but was Michelle serious in covering up Josie's arms? The child is what, 3 or 4? Being modest is their choice and I can respect the family for this choice, but acting weird about a child's bare arms is silly.
ReplyDeleteYou can't really compare Anna & Josh's wedding with Jill & Derrick's based on how much they cost... Traditionally the bride is responsible for her own dress and her parents are responsible for the wedding reception etc. (and I have absolutely no doubt that both families stuck to tradition roles) Therefore, Anna's dress and their reception would have been what she and her family could afford at that time and if they are not wealthy like the Duggars then obviously Anna's dress would not have cost what Jill's did... Also, Anna & her family quite possibly preferred to make that wedding more "homely/homemade"... Everything was their choice (Anna CHOSE homemade) and I bet they loved it just as much as Jill loved hers...
ReplyDeleteHow very cute. Beautiful family.
ReplyDeleteYeah! you looks too pretty in this dress. I liker this post.
ReplyDeletelove jills dress
ReplyDeletewhen are you going to post her wedding? i am looking forward to seeing it. when is jessa's wedding ? i hope you post it whenever it happen's . i have one more quiestion. who were jills and will be jessa's bridsmaids
ReplyDeletethat is so cute
ReplyDeleteShe said, "Who is NOW one of my favorite people in the world."
ReplyDeleteI think when the lady said "She's not like one of my favorite people," she was being facetious because she was the one who was hugging Michelle while she was talking. People talk like that all the time nowadays.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous She said she is now one of her most favorite people.....
ReplyDeleteAnonymous I really think she said "Michelle is, like, my favorite person!"
ReplyDeleteIt was lovely wedding and Jill was beautiful. I wish them a lifetime of happiness
ReplyDeleteMichelle Duggar is truly a lovely woman with very lovely daughters; Anna Duggar is also such a nice girl, and seems to fit in their family so well. I hope that Jill and her new husband are very happy together.
ReplyDeletewere does it say a woman can not show her upper arm in a dress there is a lot of sinner out there in short sleeves,
ReplyDelete
