I am so proud of Jessa and Ben of waiting for their right time for them to get engaged, being that they're being pressure my everyone to get married. Their time will come, when they feel it in their hearts, in the meantime I hope they enjoy every bit of their courtship.

Though they have shown appropriate reserve during their courtship and engagement, there is also behavior that is appropriate and not appropriate for couples after marriage. You show that you are in love, and that you are united, and that is great.Though the couple is entitled "to have and to hold" as it says in their vows, there is still a certain reserve you show in public versus alone together. Your bodies belong to each other, not to the public.

ReplyDeleteSeriously, Derick's arm seems to want space. So not correct! He has his other arm around her and he is turned around to talk to someone. You can make so many things from this and you still would not have a clue. They look very relaxed with each other and in love, let 'em be.

We all show love in different ways and I do not believe we should be making assumptions 1) based on ONE picture and 2) if our lives were this narrowly followed I'm pretty sure everyone wil have a lot more personal and degrading things to say about us. These posts are to inspire, encourage and share Gods love and inspiration...not to focus on whether her sitting on him is inappropriate or whether her skirt is too short. The point that we start measuring the skirt by the cm and saying 'oh wow their skirts are immodest now because it's 5cm shorter' then that's when we become legalistic. Embrace the positives that the family has to offer and avoid analysing the family to the minute details.

ReplyDeleteI have been watching the Duggar’s since their very first special 10 years ago. I, along with many others, have witnessed the growth of this family and the love they have for one another.
ReplyDeleteHaving said that, let’s leave the nitpicking and criticizing out. Who cares if knees are shown, or if Jill and Derick are being affectionate towards each other? I am thankful that they share so much of their lives with us and I hope they continue to do so for many more years.
We don’t know if any of them read our posts, but what if they do? Maybe, because of the few that think the Duggar’s aren’t living their lives the way some bloggers feel they should, they stop sharing altogether.
Let’s just wish them well and thank the ladies that run this site for keeping us up to date.

DeleteSo happy for them. They are clearly a match made in heaven ;) I think newlyweds are often a bit close for a little while, we courted a year, engaged 6 months. I'm not comfortable really with public displays of affection but after we were married we hugged and held hands and say in far too small chairs together. I think its a normal transition. And as for how he's sitting he's got his other arm around her and he's just turning to the camera. I think its good Jessa isn't jumping into a marriage, I can see her courting much longer , she's younger and seems less driven toward things, this is a huge decision that changes your whole life. I would say they could be engaged... They look pretty close recently ;) you should update and add Derek's bday and update some of the kids pics in your banner. Oh and the skirts thing... I always wonder why people always comment on them, I grew up with pants/ skirts have to be below your fingers... I myself always wear things that go at least past my knee but ... Sometimes my knees show a tiny bit, clothing moves a but here and there. And the girls are growing up... What they believe is becoming their own and they have to make their own decisions... Sometimes they're going to hug someone or a skirt or shirt might not be what you would expect, don't worry so much about it. Modesty isn't a set of rules to count off its a virtue you live... Definitely nice to see them all growing up. I think this really is just the beginning :-D just think of all the darling children yet to come!

ReplyDeleteTo anonymous #17....while I agree with you, Jill has always been an affectionate person and I think we can all agree she and Derick are truly meant for each other. I'm sure their PDA will be pointed out to them and they will curb back. They're in the honeymoon stage....ah, to be young and in love! However, Jim Bob and Michelle have always said they believe that telling each other "I love you" and kissing in front of their kids is important to show them how much they love each other and value each other.

ReplyDeleteI think it's a fine position for them to be in. I doubt they are going to be intimate in public. The true test of self control is being able to comfortable with each other and close like that without crossing the line in a public place like the outdoors. However why did they have to wait to sit like that? And why sit like that in front of others who can only side hug?
Lilly or Ellie, do u know if we will have to wait till the new season to find out where Jill went on her honeymoon, also do u know for sure if the wedding will be next season or a summer special? Thanks 4 every little bit u can share:-):-):-)

I know it's really none of our buisness, i just thought that info might have already been addressed and that I missed it.It doesnt matter anyway, I love them both!:-)

I think it is ridiculous to comment on the affection shown between the newly married couple in the picture! They are both adults & married & now 1 flesh :-) it's not like they're touching intimately in public or passionately kissing! They are sitting together and enjoying the joys of married life :-) are we all forgetting that when this show started they were all minors, now the children are growing up & of adult age. Of course they will make their own judgements & decisions in life based on their christian upbringing but who are we to judge? If 1 of their adult children decide to wear something with short sleeves & deemed immodest by some, that's their decision & if you don't agree, then you don't wear that choice but you live by your convictions & let others live by theirs with their God. Jill is a married adult woman, her decisions are between her, God & her husband!

ReplyDeleteI read that the Duggars, who we all know are not into sports teams, had to have a discussion if it is okay for couples to high five at sports games, since Derick and Ben are into sports games. Isn't that taking things way too far? I mean, high fiving? In front of hundreds or thoustands of people? Just seems way over the top to me. Do they have discussions on what to do if a cashier touches their hand while giving them change? Come on now.
