On tonight's episode of 19 Kids and Counting, Michelle and Anna take the five youngest Duggar girls to a candy shop to celebrate Jordyn, Mackynzie, and Josie's birthdays. The show starts at 9PM EST/8PM CST on TLC. Here's a video preview:
I love love love the duggars. But I think the whole "winter storm" was stagged. I can't see Jim bob being so rude as to ask for an entire turkey dinner to be made a day ahead with 5 hours notice. Coming early due to weather is totally acceptable but asking for the meal ahead with no notice just seemed a bit presumptuous that I couldn't see him really doing it.
Sorry ,they still have their own birthdays. Those girls will grow up and not know what day they were born..I can see doing something like that once, but I hope it isn't business as usual for those kids. It's unfair to them. JMO
Remember that we only see part of what happens. You do not know if they asked for that meal or if it were just planned ahead of time. As hosts it is expected and polite that they provide dinner for their guests.
Anonymous 8: It was Jim Bob, over the phone to Anna, who suggested they just go ahead and have the "holiday" meal that evening instead of the next day as planned. (which IMO was not necessary at all). It really didn't make for good television at all. It just portrays Anna and Josh as being still children, not able to run things in their own home, unless it is Jim Bob who is really responsible for their home out there, and Josh's job. We'd like to know the details of that one.
@Anonymousanonmous 12, how can you say such mean things about Josie, was that comment really neccessary? She is 100% fine, I think you are the one with the blinders on.I hope you can sleep at night for picking on a sweet little girl.REALLY! I hope this makes it through as this comment was not mean, just a little disturbed at such rudeness, I'm just defending the family.
Michelle said it was Jordan's birthday. Do you think she meant to say Josie's birthday? If it was Jordan's birthday-then Jordon was 5 and so they were no longer all 4 years old
I think some people seem to forget that Josie was born at 25 weeks and 4 weeks. She was almost 3 months premature. Therefore, it is normal that she is a little bit behind a "normal" 4 year old. I used normal in parentheses as I'm tired of people saying Josie's not normal. She's a gift from God and God created her perfect even though she's different.
I'm sure Josie is receiving some speech therapy and she's doing amazingly well for being so premature. However, Josie will probably always have some delays. Josie seems like a very smart little girl who is full of life.
All premies take longer to reach milestones. And if she has the expressive language of a 30 month old and is 48 months old she has no requirement to share that with the world. The problem was her gallbladder became a problem while she was pregnant. This could have been her first baby and he gall bladder acted up requiring delivery. I do hope if she qualifies for therapy they do it, even if it means dropping her off at the public school for a session a week or do so privately. In some states they require the delay to be 25% behind their chronological age. Premies are often considered by the age they should have been if born on time. She was born 4 months early. So if she is 48 months old chronologically she would be 44 months realistically. Some states it's 50% delay to qualify for services. I do worry they will solve this problem by encouraging two daughters to do online classes and then local school to learn about speech therapy with practical skills under a trusted person. She may be ten by then.
It was clear he asked for the meal. It wasn't the editing. He is capable of error. We all say the wrong thing from time to time. It would be nice to have that acknowledged.
Some seem to forget that Josie was very premature, so it's normal that she has some delays. However, Josie is doing amazing for being 25 weeks and 4 days premature. Also, Josie might be receiving some therapy, but they choose not to say anything.
Re: Anonymous 15's comment: It didn't "seem" to bother Anna because women are trained to never cross a male. They are to be submissive to men at all times. Such a travesty. Either this, or it was totally staged for TV, which isn't a reality show at all. I can watch The Dick Van Dyke Show, and have the same script. Last time I checked, this isn't a sitcom. Please, TLC, don't try to make it one.
Thanks for leaving your comments! We answer as many of your questions as we can, but due to the number of comments we receive daily, we are unable to answer every one. Our aim is to post all points of view, but we do not post anything that is profane, insulting, derogatory, or in poor taste.

ReplyDeleteWell, she had to cook anyway. Besides, she could have said no. She got it done and it really did not seem to bother her.

ReplyDeleteanon 20: Turning JB down is not crossing a man. Women are to honor their own husbands. She is being kind.
ReplyDeleteAnna is a lovely, gracious, young woman. She and Josh are doing a beautiful job with their family.
