When new episodes of 19 Kids and Counting air this spring, the Duggars will reveal the details of Jessa Duggars' courtship with Ben Seewald, which began in September 2013. Until then, here are some pictures of the two lovebirds:

Jessa is a beautiful woman and will make a absolutely wonderful wife and mother..I bet the family will miss her organization esp. When it comes time to packing for those toad trips...I'm So Happy For her.Its been so nice watching this beautiful children grow up to be such upstanding human beings...

ReplyDeleteI'm sure they are already engaged. If they aren't yet then I don't see it going much longer. Courtships usually don't last long. So my guess is they are engaged and the season will end with a wedding and an announcement that Anna is expecting. Or that one of the other lovely Duggar girls are courting or maybe John!!!! The possibilities are endless!!!! :)

ReplyDeleteEEK, they only met in september of 2013 and already in LOVE! A little premature if you ask me. also dont say it worked FOR YOU! this is someone else and decades LATER. all have her having children etc. college and establish yourself 1st!
ReplyDeleteIt is absolutely possible! My husband and I met, started dating, and were married 10 months later at the age of 20. Going on eight years of marriage now! :) We have five beautiful children with a sixth on the way. Our lives are established with each other, which came before finishing college and starting a career. :)

ReplyDeleteTotally. I think the season will end with Jessa's wedding. How could it not? It's pretty obvious that they're engaged now. I also think the first episode will be the engagement announcement. I certainly hope that there will NOT be an announcement that Anna is pregnant, but if so, I predict that will be in the middle of the season. A "braces" episode will squeeze its way in there, too.

Second episode, will show the courtship, another Bates wedding, a dentist appt., packing and more lecturing. Third episode Jessa's courtship, Josiah at Alert and March for life...Last episode, teaser for engagement or wedding.
ReplyDeleteI think Ben must be a really amazing and mature guy considering Jessa went for someone younger than her. She has great character and judgment and would only go for someone that surpasses her standards. I don't think they are engaged...I have a feeling it will be on Valentine's Day :) Although I think the longer they wait the better....they have to get to know each other before 'jumping' into life long commitment. Alyssa Bates got engaged after a 2 month courtship.....and her fiancé lives in another state so they must've only seen each other a couple of times before becoming engaged....yikes!

ReplyDeleteThe skirt she has on in that picture is not short at all it's a little past knee length. The skirt is quite modest.

ReplyDeleteI am THRILLED for Jessa, and have been praying that Jana and Jill will be blessed to enter into a courtship soon as well! I think that all the girls know exactly what their standards are, and they are not willing to settle for anything less than God's best for them, and that is so admirable! And thank you Jim Bob and Michelle for loving your children enough to help them through this very tumultuous, emotional time. Courting, or dating with a purpose, can be so emotionally charged, and it is just awesome that Jessa has you two to be able to lean on for advice and guidance. Ben seems like a very Godly, upstanding young man, and I am very happy for the two of them!

ReplyDeleteI think they are a gorgeous couple! Very happy for them both. :) As for the comment that Jessa's skirt was too short- not hardly, it goes over her knees when sitting! I've never seen the Duggar's wear anything remotely immodest. I love how the girls manage to be fashionable and modest at the same time.
ReplyDeleteWould someone explain the theological distinction between holding hands - apparently forbidden to "courting" couples - and the boy having his arm around the girl in several of the pictures? And while we're on things that make absolutely no sense, why on earth would they need to have their text messages "chaperoned"? They are presumably going to be allowed to say "yes" or "no" to marriage. What forbidden topics or questions could they slip into a text message? The problem with these arbitrary and absolutist doctrines is that they cannot rationally regulate every human activity, and always descend into demands for conformity without question, particularly to the absurdities.

ReplyDeleteFunny thing is...it did work for me! My hubs and I were married a year and 2 weeks after we met. We were engaged 3 months after we met. I'm 28 now and my hubs is 34. We've been married for almost 4 years. When you know, you know. God isn't afraid to make these things known when you're seeking him.

ReplyDeleteI was excited to see all the pictures! Best wishes to the couple as they get to know each other better. I'm especially glad to see that there are young men out there who still respect, and adhere to, the guidelines set by families for courting. Too many young people "marry in haste and repent at leisure" these days, or they don't marry at all. So sad that our culture is going in that direction. Congratulations to Jessa and Ben.

ReplyDeleteI think alot of people are projecting a whole lot of stuff. It's craziness! God knows what's gonna happen and when. As far as "theological distinction" someone mentioned, I think it's a matter of personal preference for them as a family. If that's what they feel safe with, then more power to them! I just pray for the Duggars that they have a great year and that the Lord blesses all their relationships.

ReplyDeleteAnd as for Jessa's participation in this..we have to remember she is a grown woman, if she didn't agree with courtship she would not participate in it.
courtship began in September, the dad said "Ben passed the family test to date one of them" or something to that effect, which probably means they were getting to know each other before that.
ReplyDeleteAnd my hubby and I were married less than a year after meeting, and it worked for us. We finished college while married and starting a family and are totally established, it just takes a bit more work, self control, and sacrifice... which haters usually lack.
No no, they started courting in 2013 but they knew each other before that.
