Hidden "Treasures" in the Clothes Closet

In this TLC webisode, Jessa and Jinger sort through their family's clothes closets to find items to sell at the Duggar Family Flea Market, which will benefit NICU families at Arkansas Children's Hospital. They come across a rack of older clothes and are shocked at how drastically styles have changed in just a few years. "Some of this stuff looks like it could have come off Noah's Ark," says Jessa.

  1. The girls are beautiful, but somehow I miss the old Duggars... there was something sweet about the way they used to dress - the long skirts, and the modesty they represented. Have no doubt they still live modestly, but there was just something nice about how the clothing represented it. I know as girls they want to be a bit more modern, but have to say I miss the old ways! Still a fan, though! :)

  3. Their girls are so pretty and they have such great fashion sense now compared to earlier years. :P So if they adopt I guess it won't be anyone little since they're getting rid of all that.

  5. I think the changes in style are a good thing. =) There are times when I look back at what a wore and cringe a bit. Jessa seemed sad to be getting rid of the 2T and smaller clothing. I guess it would be sad if you were used to always having a tiny baby around. =(

  6. I do not miss the old ways at all. There are a myriad of ways to dress modestly and be fashionable. Never a need to be stuck in 1865 fashion-wise. I'm not sure who decided that clothing from over 100 years ago pleased God more than clothing available now, but I'm glad to see the Duggar girls look up to date. My daughters and I love to shop for the latest in fashion. My dd wears the junior dresses as tunic tops with skinny jeans or leggings. We find dresses that are a good length and pair with pretty tank tops or camisoles. Very modest and fashionable. Yes, we wear pants. Pants made for women. lol.

  8. Haha! "This looks like it could have come off of Noah's Ark!" I love their style... Jessa and Jill are so funky and creative with their style, Jinger is more of a nuetral type of girl, and Jana is a soft feminine style, I love all of the styles!!

  9. I think their change in dress has a lot to do with not only finances, but the fact that Michelle isn't singlehandedly doing the shopping any more. I don't think fashion is big for her as she tends to wear the same things over and over again in episodes. I think the girls take the time to look and pick things out. I am kind of surprised that they aren't keeping things for the multitude of grand kids they expect to have.

  10. @Lucy
their stuff DOES NOT look like styles from 100 years ago!! Its not that stuff nowadays is not modest(although most of it isnt) its that people used to be more careful in how tight their clothese were or how much skin they showed.

  12. Actually, there are times when we wanted to wear something different. We open our closet and most of the time we wear whatever style of clothes we have there, I believe wearing something that feels comfortable is the best.
