19 Kids and Counting, "An Emotional Goodbye"
- The rest of the Duggar moving crew and several Bates kids arrive to help Josh and Anna get settled into their new house. "We've spent the last three nights in the RV, so I'm really excited that the moving trucks are showing up this morning," says Anna.
- Jim Bob compares his super-sized family to an octopus: "Sometimes those tentacles have a tendency to overlap or conflict with each other." The Duggars admit that they are not professional movers, but with 25 people, they can accomplish a lot in a short period of time.
- When all the trucks are empty, the Duggar girls bring Anna to tears by surprising her with a bunch of cute decorations and framed photos. They stay up all night transforming the house into a home that looks professionally decorated.
- To celebrate Anna's 25th birthday, the Duggars hop into the bus and make the 10-mile drive into Washington D.C. for a carousel ride, which brings on nausea for most of the family. Afterwards, they head to a restaurant for their last meal together as a family.
- The next morning, everyone gets up early to head back to Arkansas, but first, it's time to say goodbye. "All good things must come to an end," says Jim Bob. Everyone exchanges hugs and sheds tears.
- After the bus drives away, Josh heads out for his first day of work. "Watching Josh drive away and realizing that I'm here in a new city with three small children...it's not going to be an easy adjustment, but we'll make it through," says Anna.
- Although there are currently no babies in the Duggar home, Michelle says she is not taking down her diaper changing station. She would welcome more kids and is open to the idea of adoption. Jim Bob is onboard with that idea but also has something else in mind for the family's immediate future. Duggar Family Farm, anyone?
- The Duggar dad dreams of growing food and raising livestock on a section of his 20 acres of land. He loads his wife and kids into the bus and drives three hours to the Youngblood GrassFed Farm in southwest Arkansas to experience a real family farm.
- The Duggars rise at 5:30am to get to work. Michelle and the older girls start off by feeding the pigs. "They stink really bad," says Jessa, who hopes there won't be any pigs on the Duggar Family Farm.
- The little boys learn how to milk cows, while the little girls feed the chickens and collect eggs. Meanwhile, Jim Bob inspects a pregnant heifer. "I was elbow deep into their farming thing," jokes the father of 19.
- Later, the Duggars head over to the Youngblood's meat shop (Meatworks Butchery & Market), where the girls help prepare an organic, farm-fresh meal and the guys work in the butcher shop. "I haven't seen this much butchering since my dad tried to speak Spanish," laughs Jessa.
- At the store, Michelle is able to connect with a mom who lost a child at 1 pound, 8 ounces (2 ounces more than Josie weighed at birth).
- So are the Duggars going to start a family farm? The day was filled with a lot more surprises than Jim Bob had imagined, but he and Michelle are going to pray about it.
This season is pretty interesting. I wish Josh and anna didnt have to move, but I also think its for the best. They will grow as a family.
ReplyDeleteIt is good to see a duggar kid getting out of his parents crazy parenting
ReplyDeleteThis is an interesting season. Missed seeing Jill in Farm Fresh. Anyone know what type work she does now. I am assuming she was working during this episode.
ReplyDeleteI love this family. They are such an uplifting spirit to me. Watching them at the end of my day is wonderful. I go to bed with a loving heart and a smile. I may not follow the path of GOD and not live my life that way but they bring that spark to my life. I hope in 30 years when I'm 62 that this show will still be on. I love this family. I wish them all the best and hope my 2 daughters are half as great as they are.
ReplyDeleteFirst, I absolutely LOVE this show, and family.. but, I must be honest and say poor little Josie looked very uncomfortable with that woman touching her repeatedly.
ReplyDeleteSo that just made the whole saga worse for the Duggars. if it wasnt bad enough they left josh and anna in the lurch while they were at the bates house. they left them to stay in the RV for 3whole days???!!!??? how rude. not very thoughtful at all. :-(
ReplyDeleteWell they traveled for two days plus the night in dc so its not so bad but still thoughtless regardless
Deletewhy did they not do this before? save them so much money on food.
ReplyDeleteI believe the Lord did lead Josh & Anna to move to Washington DC, and would love to see a show featuring them. It looks like the network either needs to make more episodes or else give us "branch-off" shows featuring the children as they begin branching off. Also, I would love to see the Bates show come back. They certainly have a lot going on with 2 of them getting married, one doing a CD, etc. These kind of shows are so encouraging to see how the Lord blesses them and gives them real prosperity, not just money, but good quality of life. It is a living testimony of how loving the Lord, loving each other and serving others brings blessings to not only to their lives, but others that witness it.
ReplyDeleteFarming..I really dont think Jim Bob thought it through..Michelle, is so gracious all the time. I think i would have flat out said "your nuts". Shes so amazing..Im glad its something that theyve decided not to do. It would be far to much, their lifestyle just doesnt warrant the amount of work that goes it to it..They would have to hire a full staff of people while they were travelling around. I think their mission is something different. Jim Bob cracks me up..when he was checking the heffer and he spoke with his sons..He's a funny guy.
ReplyDeleteThey should totally start a farm!!! That would be so awesome! And I had no idea they had so much land...20 acres, wow. I also hope they adopt. :)
ReplyDeleteOh how sad, you all were right about them being so late to get there to unload.
ReplyDeleteOne cow and a bunch of chickens would actually be really easy and save them a ton of money. Muxh healthier too.
I fell asleep five minutes into this episode, so thanks for the recap! I think a few chickens is plenty for this very busy and traveling family. Any larger animals seems like that would be too much for the family to properly care for them (as, apparently, caring for a veg. garden was too much!). Start slow and see how it goes! Certainly, bringing more children into their family is a private, personal choice; but I feel 19 is enough! Focus on them and your grandchildren. Be satisfied by those blessings.
ReplyDeleteI Think it is pretty sad that on moving day Jim Bob took over all the plans. Josh should have been in charge since it was his family moving, and for Jim Bob to laze around with the other family while Josh and Anna went to the new house without any furniture or supplies I think is just a shame. He should have been thinking of his grandkids instead of himself.
ReplyDeleteCan you please post both of the new episodes on your website?
ReplyDeleteIs this on YouTube yet??????????
ReplyDeleteIt is good to see that josh got a job away from his family so that they can become a family that they want to be without mom and dad talking him out of doing better for his fan ly
ReplyDeleteSomeone should upload this episode on Youtube
ReplyDeleteHave been a follower for awhile, hate posting "anonymous", but I don't have Google, or AIM, or any of those things, just an Outlook account. :-) I noticed that last week's episode was downloaded to YouTube. Do you know if they will be doing that with all the episodes for this season, or was that just a special post?
ReplyDeleteLove your blog! Love the Duggars! Yes, some people might think that they are "cheesy", but give me "cheese" over smut any day, I enjoy their wholesomeness most of all!

DeleteI was wondering if they Anna and josh bought there house or are they renting??
ReplyDeleteOn the episode last week they spoke of their landlord so I think they are renting.
DeleteMichelle, I totally feel for you missing those grandbabies. In May, my daughter moved away with my 3 grandkids. I miss them so much. That episode just brought those tears right back again. I just keep reminding myself that they are well cared for.
ReplyDeleteThey are renting
ReplyDeleteThe girls should have worn actual shoes to the farm. Its unsafe to be around farm in flipflops. What if they stepped on somthing that couldn't have been "eaisily washed off with a garden hose" they're lucky no one got stepped on.
ReplyDeleteI do not think that Jim Bob and Michelle try to talk him out of anything. They have a leave and cleave policy.
ReplyDeleteThat was my first thought too, but then I realized that the three nights were probably including the nights they spend on the road.
ReplyDeleteJim Bob didn't "take over all the plans". He had ideas of how it should be done, but ultimately he stepped back and did it Josh's way because it was Josh's house. Did you miss that part?
ReplyDeleteJim Bob and Michelle need to know that once a farm animal is named, it will never be eaten.
ReplyDeleteYES! Please please do post both the episodes on here!! We don't have cable, so this is the only way we can watch them!!
ReplyDelete@Karen Martin
ReplyDeleteOne the first moving episode, Josh and Anna found a plant in the house and Josh said it was a gift from the landlord. So I would guess renting. It is a smart move to rent. When I moved cross country I rented for a year in a neighborhood I thought I would like. After a year I found another area that the neighborhood and schools that were a better fit for us. Josh and Anna have a challenge of needing to live near a city, have ample parking for the RV and guests and the ability to film. Many neighborhoods would not allow TLC to film, so they have a much large list then normal families relocating.
Why did the Duggars ride the carousel if are so susceptible to motion sickness? I can't imagine torturing myself like that!
ReplyDeleteI love the Duggars but I was very disappointed in Jimbob's casual attitude towards getting Josh & Anna's belongings to them in D.C. I think the JimBob is having difficulty letting go...
ReplyDeleteI loved the shows.. Cried like a baby when they were all leaving. Karen, I think they are renting the house, I heard them say, look what the landlord left us when they got to the house.. and they had just picked that house out the week before.. too soon to purchase it.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous at 5, I don;t think they were left to sleep at the new house for 3 nights in the RV, I think the first night was at their old house, since they had packed their trucks up that day, and then the next night was at the Bates, they slept in it and then the 3rd one was at the new house.
Great show last night. What a wonderful job the girls did decorating the house, it looked wonderful when they were done. I'm really enjoying this new phase in Josh and Anna's life, and it's great to how the younger children are coming along, it's so nice to see JimBob and Michelle so engaged with their children. They really are good role models not just for their perspective on bringing children into the world, but parenting them once they get here. :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Lillie, Ellie and Readers. Are there any links yet for the show?...In Aus we are a season behind and no idea when they are airing that season let alone this one :( Tanya G
ReplyDeletePlease please post the episodes. I'm in Ireland and we won't see it for 2 years :(
ReplyDeleteI've always liked Anna, but I've got a whole new respect for her. Shortly after giving birth, she travels 1200 miles with 3 young children to a new city with no family support - wow - this one strong Christian women!
ReplyDeleteHi I was wondering when I can see this episode? Thanks
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
