The girls' room is so pretty! I love seeing the "Sisters" word on the wall, the colours, the butterflies, flowers, leaves, etc. The girls' bedroom looks bigger than the boys' bedroom. I can only see 7 beds. Do the little ones share the same bed or they're still sleeping in their parents' room? Seeing the whole house, I think the girls' room is the prettiest of all.
The bedroom is very pretty, but I wonder how any of them get a full night's sleep! I think at any one time a little sibling could have trouble falling asleep or wake-up at some point for random reasons an require an older "buddy"'s help.
I noticed they was only 7 beds so 2 of the younger ones must sleep in the double beds with jana and jill and I noticed Joy used to have a bed like the other girls with her name on but now she has a bunk bed with beds underneath for the younger ones so more room.
I may be wrong, but from Michelle's comments and written blogs, I get the impression that when the little ones need something, they go to her and Jimbob. According to her blogs, it isn't uncommon to have several in there by morning. My only concern with the way the room is shared and I am sure that they make adjustments for it is that the little ones would have an easier time getting into their older sisters' things that may be unsafe for them.
I loved having two of my sisters share a room with me - well, most of the time! (We weren't Christians at the time so fought occassionally.) My parents had 14 children...7 girls and 7 boys. There was never a child in his own room, and we did not mind at all.
My husband came from a family larger then the Duggars and loved sharing a room with his brothers. His house had 6 bedrooms so it was a little different set up. His house had a nursery next to his parents room for the youngest to stay for the first 2 years at least. The other thing they had the Duugars don't have was a sick/quiet bedroom. It was a small bedroom but if a child was sick it gave them privacy and rest and helped other kids not get sick. It was also used for studying. I felt bad when Jill said she had to go to a closet to find quiet! to study. With such a large house having a quiet room for illness, a headache, or studying might have been a good idea.
My kids don't like to sleep alone. I have 5 boys. And upon moving out of my room the slept with a big brother. If there was a problem they came back. Now the older 2 have their own rooms and the other 3 share. We built triple bunks but Most mornings they are all in 1 bed.
See, what I don't understand is, some people who see a video such as this one, say how awful it is that the Duggars are 'forced' to share a room and the older girls and boys should be allowed to have their own rooms and ' its just not normal for siblings to enjoy each others company' yet these same people will whinge ' how do I get my kids to stop fighting and get along?' Or ' how do I get my kids to share?' Oh please, there is finally a family whose kids have been raised to love and serve one another and they get along like a house on fire and they are criticised for it and told how cruel it is to not give each child their own room. These types of people need o suck it up and take a lesson from the Duggars!
i think that joy anna and johanna are on the bunk beds, with joy anna on the top. and jinger and jessa have the single beds. then, jana and jill each have a double bed but jennifer sleeps in jills bed and jordyn sleeps in jana's. this is why some people counted only 7 beds. oh, and josie still sleeps in her parents room. however, isnt joy anna a little old for a bunk bed with a slide? isnt she like 14 or 15 when this video was made?? it is also weird that the boys have more people but enough beds. i guess the boys dont mind most of them having bunkbeds, while the girls prefer bigger beds.
