sound good.. we are going to have to make it...thanks
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to try this recipe! It sounds so yummy!!!! :)
ReplyDeleteThis must be how Jim-Bob and Josh keep their weight healthy.
ReplyDeleteI've been eating Cincinnati Chili my whole life and it did not come from a seasoning packet. This is by far the worse recipe I have ever read.
ReplyDelete1.You are not suppose to brown the meat first. Raw meat, in pot, then cook.
2. Your recipe says to add the meat "of desired". Thats like giving a recipe for hamburgers and saying adding meat is optional.
3. You should not add sour cream or black olives to this dish. Thats not traditional cinci chilli.
4. Use oyster crackers or saltines. No need to crumple them.
5. Beans should be a topping not part of the chili base.
6. Where is the tomato sauce and onions in the chili?
I cant give out my recipe, but this should help

Negative. You can disagree without being rude about it. Just make suggestions. Dont be bitter and angry.
DeleteI believe the recipe clearly states "Duggar-Style" Cincinnati Chilli. It is their recipe; not the one you have had the pleasure of eating your whole life. With that said, your comments are a moot point.
DeleteThis is the recepe for a Duggar-sized family, right? Just wanting to make sure I adjust the recepe before making way too much for my 3-person family!
ReplyDeleteThanks ! We will try it !
ReplyDeleteAre the seasoning packets usually in most supermarkets in the US?
ReplyDeleteOH my....that is a huge recipe; has anyone cut it down to a normal family size ??
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with the first sentence in Anonymous 1:33's comment.
ReplyDeleteThere are much better recipes for Cincinnati Chili on AllRecipes.com. We prefer to cook the onions & kidney beans in the chili, instead of dirtying up a bunch of bowls with all the add-on's.

ReplyDeleteHi Anonymous,
Cincinnati chili seasoning is available at most grocery stores, as well as online.

I live in Arizona and so far I can't find Cincinnati Chili seasoning packet. Does anyone have any ideas?
ReplyDeleteYou a can try looking for it on Amazon
DeleteI just made this tonight and it was delicious. I went by the recipe, but I added a 6oz can of tomato paste. My family loved it!!! Thanks so much for the recipe. God Bless!
ReplyDeletei have a comment and a question for everyone.
ReplyDeleteJust because you grew up eating something called "Cinci Chili" doesnt mean the Duggars recipie is wrong. For example, not everybody does meatloaf the same way, do they?
So if I make meatloaf with oatmeal or instant potatoes instead of breadcrumbs, or maybe mustard or mayo instead of catsup, is my recipe a bad recipe?
I havent tried this yet, but when I do I will leave out the beans and the onions. The chicken-etti was good as was the Tator Tot cass. so this also should be good. Thanks for letting me 'talk'.
You don't read? It says add the meat to the beans and seasoning if you desire to cook that way. As for browning the meat most people prefer their meat browned meat not raw because they have been conditioned by the media to not eat undercooked meat or fish. Also there are people who do not eat meat and that's okay too. As for the cheese..onions...sour cream and other choices it is stated that these are TOPPINGS! Maybe rereading it and not being so hasty might help.
ReplyDeleteCincinnati Chili main flavor comes from coco powder, cimamon ,and chili powder. Still addicted..
ReplyDeleteI want to know how do you make this for one???
ReplyDeleteHi Anonymous,
DeleteIt would be fairly simple to cut most of the recipe in half or even into smaller portions, but the packet of seasoning would be the tricky part. We recommend making the entire batch and freezing the extras. Chili freezes very well.

I don't understand why the Duggars started the new season on September 17th this year and suddenly the season finale is on October 25th or so of this year. Isthere a problem? I mean folks that don't like them just oughta watch something else. But this show really needs to be followed not just let go! I mean that the Duggars and kliens. Why??? It's clean tv.
ReplyDeletekroger sells gold star chili, dixie chili and skyline chili are great cincinnati-style chili,my fave is dixie chili
ReplyDeleteI'm going to try this recipe.
ReplyDeleteWe ask for the Duggar recipes, not the other way around. Enjoying their life and how they do things is just interesting to most of us, but if you think your recipe is better, that's fine. There's no need to get upset if you like your recipe better or if you think their recipe isn't "authentic" enough. Most of us enjoy how down to earth this family is and just want to experience a small piece of it.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous Looks like this link is a great recipe for Cinn Chile... However, bloggers were wanting the recipe that The Duggars use. And that is what is posted.
ReplyDeleteRelax folks. These recipes are what they enjoy. They may not even like YOUR version of it. I have my own personal recipes that everyone loves, but I don't presume to have the ultimate answer on anything I make as some of you!
ReplyDeleteWow. I thought I was the only one who made what I call Cincinnati Chili. And I make mine much the same way. Wonderful and pleases a large family or gathering ! :)
ReplyDeleteHoly Moly the uprising over a Chili Recipe ~ simply amazing ~ it is a Recipe Folks ~ not brain surgery or something to cure cancer ~
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you # 22. We're here to enjoy the Duggar's and all aspects of their life that they are generous enough to supply to us. Chill out. Deborah from Canada.

ReplyDeleteWOW, kinda harsh. Everyone's recipe is different. No need to be rude.

ReplyDeleteTo each their own
To those who simply can't resist a critical comment : Open up your newspaper and you'll find plenty to complain about. The Duggars are raising 19 law-abiding children. Nothing to complain about that I can see!
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteyou can use chili powder of your choice, the key to cincinnati chili is a little bit of cinnamon. I use a mexican chili seasoning and when I want a taste of homestyle cincinnati chili I add about a 1tsp - 1tblsp of cinnamon depending on the size of the pot i am making. I also use v8 or tomato juice instead of tomato paste or sauce. I use seasoned black beans, for a filler, chopped onion, diced tomatos with green chilies, restaurant salsa ( it is kinda thick ) toss it all in a crockpot and let it cook , ps... break up the meat really fine, no chunky meat,Cincinnati chili meat is really fine ... and I use 1lb of ground turkey and 1 lb of ground sirloin

What the Duggar don't know about how to cook can fill a book! Their so called recipes have too much red meat, carbohydrates, and sodium! And they are dar from healthy! And this is not Cincinnati Chili. It sounds like just canned chili over spaghetti, big deal!
