This fall, the Duggars took a trip to Japan and China to celebrate Michelle's 46th birthday. And what's a trip to China without a visit to the Great Wall of China?
On Monday, September 24th, the Duggars met up with guides from the Great Wall Adventure Club and spent the day on the Jinshanling section of the wall.
The Great Wall Adventure Club published an extensive account of the trip to their website.
After a delicious dinner it was time for some cultural activities, such as paper cutting. Mama Shi, whose courtyard hosted the Duggars and her daughter-in-law, showed Michelle and three of her boys how to cut rabbits and fish with paper. Michelle and the boys were very focused and finished the cutting assignment perfectly.
Everyone was in bed by 9:30, which must be a record for the Duggars, a family of night owls.
On Tuesday, the Duggars toured the Mutianyu Great Wall.
There they purchased plastic raincoats, Chinese hats, sunglasses, and other souvenirs from a local vendor.
Jim Bob didn't know that he should negotiate the ridiculous prices that were offered. Once he was warned by us, he started [to] haggle big time.
Before lunch, the Duggars looked on as Great Wall Adventure Club’s founder and CEO Terrence Ou proposed to his girlfriend, Vivian Liu, on the Great Wall.
That afternoon, the family ran into traffic on their way back to Beijing.
When the Duggar Family arrived back at the Grand Hyatt a little after 5, all the children made a mad dash for the restrooms.
Click here to visit the Great Wall Adventure Clubs' website, where you will find more details of the Duggars' trip. Footage of the Duggars excursion will air on TLC in April 2013.

ReplyDeleteHi Anonymous,
TLC hasn't announced an official start date, but it will be sometime in 2013. At the time of filming, the plan was for the Duggars' trip to the Great Wall to air in April. That's all that has been said. We will keep you posted :)

I have noticed that Josiah usually has Josie or Jennifer right by his side. I guess he is just a big help to his parents by taking care of some of the little ones.
ReplyDeleteJoy and one of the Jeremiah also seemed to always have a little one in tow.
I guess that age group really likes the young ones of the family
Please tell me how one goes about affording such an extensive/expensive trip for 22 (?) people on an income from some real estate holdings? Oh, and the TLC paycheck. Kind of hard to believe on the "buy used save the difference" mantra; when my family on almost 2 income 2 grown children and careful budgeting can barely afford a summer vacation! If they call it a "ministry" then what do all the under 18 year old children contribute?
ReplyDeleteI can't help but wonder what the Chinese with their one-child policy make of the Duggars.
ReplyDeleteI wonder about that too
DeleteJessa looks amazing in that shot of her interview. Absolutely stunning.
ReplyDelete2 Questions? 1)Do any of the older Dugger Daughters or sons have boyfriends? If so, which ones do and would you know who their steady's are? 2) Who of the older kids have regular jobs outside the home? #) Who of the older Dugger kids are going to college? Thanks
ReplyDeleteso great~
