Radical Love: Duggars Rush to Joplin

We all know that the Duggars are a compassionate, caring family, but earlier this week, they took that concept to the next level. Prepared to be blown away and encouraged like never before...

When the Duggars heard about the tornado that devastated the city of Joplin, Missouri, only an hour and a half north of their home in Northwest Arkansas, they not only prayed for the rescue workers--they became the rescue workers. Sunday evening, Jim Bob, Josh, Jana, John, Jill, Jessa, Jinger, Joseph, and Josiah drove up to Joplin and spent hours distributing supplies and physically searching for signs of life amidst the rubble of 2,000 fallen buildings. Wow! Talk about radical love!

On a scale of 1-10, how encouraged are you by this story? Were you affected by Sunday's storms?

  2. Wow! My husband and I took our 7 children to Tuscaloosa, Alabama. We are not as financially blessed, so we waited for the donations to come in. We took a 24 foot trailer loaded down.
It was a wonderful experience for our children ages 12-1

Yes, I My Husband and I were (not hurt) but it was very close to us...we missed the tornado by just 5 miles. We now live just 10 mins. away from Joplin. (My Husband got accepted by a Church to be the Sr. Pastor down here) so..that's where we are now. I love everything about this town...except for the weather. lol...I pray and hope that everyone is safe when another storm comes. God Bless ya'll. PS: YAY! Now we live even closer! To the Duggars!!! :) They came to Joplin and helped out with search and rescue. (:

  19. Thank you Duggars! I live in Joplin & just heard you were here helping the night of the devastating tornado. My husband & I lost a house we spent over a year remodeling, but it's replaceable. The lives lost are not. I've watched your show every season and would love to praise you for all of the wonderful things you do. On behalf of the city of Joplin, I'd like to say Thank You for your help, thoughts & prayers!

  20. How horrible to have lost your house. But you're exactly right--material things are replaceable. Hang in there, and may your positive attitude be catching to those around you. You're in our prayers.

  21. Joplin is my home. I was blessed not loose my home. Seeing the outpouring of love from all over has amazed and encouraged me. 5 months ago we were just a town like any other with nothing too extraordinary about us. Now, I KNOW there is some very very special about us. We are loved and we are strong.
