Go, Duggar, Go!

It's hard to imagine that there's a vehicle large enough to transport Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar and their 19 kids. They own several vans and cars, so on short trips, they might take 2 or 3 "smaller" cars. But we all know that this super-sized family loves to travel. (Who doesn't?) So when they hit the road for a long trip, the Duggars pile into a massive, 15-bed tour bus, purchased from the Port Huron Flags hockey team. Once the Duggars saw this bus advertised in a car magazine, they ran full speed ahead to take advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime offer. Vehicles with 15 beds are few and far between.
You may be wondering how on Earth the Duggars can afford all these vehicles. "Buy used and save the difference" has been Jim Bob and Michelle's motto for years. From clothing to tour buses, it defines their financial choices.
When you go on road trips, what vehicle(s) does your family take?

  1. With a family of 4, we usually take our van on long road trips. We can fit our luggage, and there's plenty of room leftover for all of us.

  4. We just returned from a week away. Hubby and the kids took our 15 passenger van, baby and I flew. We've done the 12 hr drive once before with a baby and both felt the flight was well worth the expense. ;)

  5. We just went on a trip recently, about 18 hours driving. I went with the older kids in a minivan, and my husband flew with the baby (15 months). It's definitely worth the expense for those ages where they want to be active but are too young to understand they need to be buckled in. My husband was the one flying because it's also difficult to fly with a toddler (unless you're paying for their own seat) and he has more patience for wiggling.
