In "19 Kids and Counting" Duggars at the Hospital, we saw Michelle Duggar recount her baby's return to the hospital just two days after she was brought home in early April. But what really happened in those dark morning hours of April 8th? Here's a behind the scenes look....
Michelle calls it one of the darkest moments of her life. "I was terrified. I was thinking, 'My baby is going to die. I am losing her now."' During her early morning feeding, Josie Duggar refused to eat and took a turn for the worst when her vitals dropped to dangerous levels. Michelle and Jill dialed 911, while Jessa and Jinger prayed desperately over their baby sister. In the ambulance, Michelle held Josie skin-to-skin to raise her body temperature and desperately asked God to save her infant's life. At the hospital, doctors tried frantically tried to stabilize her, while Michelle continued to pray. When Josie was finally in a stable condition, the Duggars began to breathe easier.
Have you ever experienced a medical emergency like Josie's? How did you find comfort and strength?
On April 25th, 2009, I got the most frantic phone call from my daughter in law. She said Tristan (my 3 week old grandson, born prematurely) stopped breathing, he was blue- and Billy (my son) was performing CPR.. I think I stopped breathing we flew over to them (7 minutes- made it in 5) to find the ambulance just getting ready to pull away. He was back, very frail but alive. 4 weeks of Intensive praying, praying and praying. He is now 1 on March 31st 2010. Strong, chubby legged and beautiful. I never go a day without thanking God for hearing my prayers...
ReplyDeleteWhat a miracle! Very encouraging story! Thanks for sharing, Kelly. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your story. How is Josie?
ReplyDeleteI heard Josie was diagnosed with Failure to Thrive, is that true? If so I am with a non-profit organization called P.O.P.S.I.C.L.E. Center. Our mission is to provide educational tools and resources that serve the needs of children with feeding difficulties, their families and the professionals who work with them. Our desire is that other families of children with feeding challenges will not have to face the same obstacles and frustrations the founding mothers of our organization had to face. If you or anyone would like more information, please visit our website at www.popsicle.org.
ReplyDeleteI have not heard that Josie was diagnosed with Failure to Thrive, but POPSICLE looks like a great organization! :)
ReplyDeleteHeidi, to my knowledge, the Duggars have not released any recent updates on Josie. I will keep you posted :)
ReplyDeleteHi all! I just read on the TLC website that Josie was released from hospital again! She now weighs 7 pounds, 6 oz (what I weighed when I was born...!)Apparantly, a lot of her digestive problems were caused by lactose intolerance. Hopefully, with some new enzymes, she will be able to continue to grow and thrive. They say that she now looks like a full-term baby, so that's good. Hopefully then, she won't need any surgery.
ReplyDeleteYes, Josie is home! Thanks for the announcement! There is a post about it if you would like to read more :)
