Jessa and Ben Seewald's new addition is two days old. The elated parents haven't settled on a name, but they say they plan to choose something "unique." They introduce their little bundle of joy to the world in the video below.
It would be really refreshing to see members of this family drop the canned responses in favor of more genuine communication. There's nothing interesting about hearing them over and over again repeat the same things about children being a blessing, seasons of life, and trusting the Lord. Tell us something in your own words that doesn't sound like a little Duggar robot with a pull string zipping off key phrases.
YES YES YES!!!! I posted almost this exact same comment a few posts ago, but mine was never published. I agree. I'm ready to hear something heartfelt. Like the Bates family who laugh and talk while being recorded. This family hardly even moves. They've said their phrases so many times they don't even blink.
I agree very much with you. Thank you for being candid. I often wonder about the canned responses and wonder how honest they are. I can't imagine going through life subduing my every thought and feeling only to give the most banal and "acceptable" response for every situation... only to project the seeming image that all moments are tied with pretty bow. Do the Duggars only do this for the camera?
I third that. I have not watched one episode this season because it is all repeats. The taping is way behind actual life. I understand Ginger wanting her wedding and planning on TV like the other girls, but couldn't TLC have done a 2 hr special soon after the wedding so this season would not be full of things we already know? Am I the only one who is bored?
Agree, for some odd reason I can never get a response to my question of wondering if some of their sayings are a Duggar thing or Baptist fundamentalist thing.I have been a fan from day one, so I'm not trying to be mean...just to name a few "Season of life, countenance, fellowshiping".I know there are others, i just can't think of them all at this moment.I just hope someone knows the answer or an explanation, would be nice.I hope this post makes it this time...Thanks, Love those Duggars though😇🤗
Maybe if the hold off just a little longer we can squeeze it into the next season. I feel sorry for those boys when they grow up and learn they were "nameless" for so long after birth. I mean, this family has 9 months to choose and name. Isn't that long enough???
That is why I come to this site to get my information. I have not watched this new season and quit watching in the middle of last season. The show is too predictable and plays to many flashbacks. Also taping is too far behind what is actually going on now. Sure ratings have dropped and that is why it has been moved to Mondays.
I had no name for my second son, either, back in 1985. Just didn't think a whole lot about just ONE particular name. He got named Isaac, and since I was on post-partum meds, I still can't tell you exactly how that happened. He's still a great guy, though.
Congratulations on the new little no name. He is adorable. I understand it was a challenge to keep the gender secret. But why then even agree to learn yourselves ahead of time??? Wait until the baby is born to learn yourselves. Isn't that kind of treating your adoring family and fans in a bad way? If it was such a challenge, why do it that way? You will lose people.
Umm, this is their real life child, and their lives. They can do whatever they want in regards to their kids, including finding out the sex of their baby and keeping it to themselves. I get that they are choosing to be in the spotlight but maybe it's the one secret they wanted to have so who cares! Don't be so selfish.
I agree. I did not understand keeping it a secret from only friends and family. Probably something TLC asked them to do to keep the suspense. Wonder if Jill will do the same?
Please tell me they aren't going to give a kid another "unique" name that the kid will then have to deal with his whole life. Maybe one that nobody can pronounce or spell? Are thinking this through at all??
I even feel sorry for people with the normal sounding names but with a different spelling (like Jinger) who have to spell their names all the time. Having such an unusual name would not be fun for me. I have a basic, one syllable English-origin last name, and people still make me spell it.
Well one thing is since their kids do not go to school or socialize outside the family much, he will not be picked on since their kids are sheltered more than the norm.
Congratulations to the Seewald family. Live a godly life and you shall be bless. I came up with a unique name for your bundle of joy, Randolph Samuel Seewald.
I was nameless for several days because my parents couldn't decide and they wanted to make sure it fit me perfectly, lol. Just because it's the cultural norm to have a name picked out when the baby arrives doesn't mean it's the only way to do it. :)
I didn't name my child right away, either, because I was having trouble deciding on a name, but I think in this case they're doing it to increase the suspense factor.
I'm falling behind lol jk, my second son is 19months. I wish I could have babies like the Dugger girls. and just let nature do what it does. I have a hard time carrying babies to term and all the shots and hormones and hospital stays . We don't use birth control either but use natural family planning because it's closer to what God intended. I don't like putting hormones in my body unless it's to keep a baby from being premature .
I hear you. I'm having a hard time getting pregnant with a second baby. We're trying supplements to see what if anything will happen. If not, it's OK. It wasn't meant to be. I hope everything works out for you :)
Marilyn R--talk to your doctor about bio-identical progesterone supplements. Usually in suppository form (those work best). Many women are undiagnosed and have low progesterone, thus causing very early miscarriages-some too early to detect. The Gianna Center in New Jersey counsels women by phone for fertility...and is a great place for Christians who do not believe in unethical fertility treartments.
With all due respect, I don't think telling others that they are most likely going to hell is a godly life. Even those who believe differently than you and belong to a real religion. That is being a Christian elitist..which most likely doesn't please God.
Please read the Bible. Read what Jesus himself said about hell. Jesus made hell for the devil and demons. He doesn't want anyone to go there, but He gives everyone a choice. "Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved." Acts 16:31. Jesus said "I am the way, the truth and the life. No man cometh unto the Father, but by me." John 14:6. The Bible never says religion will get anyone to Heaven. We can only get to Heaven by believing in Jesus.
If they want a more unique setting for a name, I really like these.... (i know that sorren was already said, but i love the name, and i think it is a unique name) Clayton Sebashtion Sorren Sebashtion or Sorren James Sebashtion Neil or Sebashtion Giovanni
Some of you commenting about "naming already" are a little silly. It's only been a few days. It's not like them not settling on a name yet means they love their son any less. You have like a month, or something, to submit a name for the birth certificate. As far as it harming the child, that's ridiculous. An infant doesn't start recognizing their own name until they are 5-7 months old. Give the happy parents some time to think. Please stop criticizing every little thing this family does.
I'm not saying a word because on the way to my scheduled C-Section, we were still the debating boy names we'd been wrestling with for months. None of them "felt right"...because God already knew we were having a girl (despite what our very experienced doctor thought he saw months earlier). LOL!
Thanks for leaving your comments! We answer as many of your questions as we can, but due to the number of comments we receive daily, we are unable to answer every one. Our aim is to post all points of view, but we do not post anything that is profane, insulting, derogatory, or in poor taste.

DeleteYou took the words right out of my mouth. I do like the Duggars but man are they robotic. Make your own decision and articulate it!

DeleteSo sweet to watch your family grow. I hope little Spurge is adjusting well to being a big brother. You and Ben look so happy.
ReplyDeleteOf course they don't have a name. That's their "thing". Keeps people coming back for information.
ReplyDeleteMaybe if the hold off just a little longer we can squeeze it into the next season. I feel sorry for those boys when they grow up and learn they were "nameless" for so long after birth. I mean, this family has 9 months to choose and name. Isn't that long enough???

DeleteWill it be similar to spirgeons name or something more normal like Samuel
ReplyDeleteSeriously, how do you go almost 10 months and still not have a baby name picked out?
ReplyDeleteThey probably do have a name just not saying anything yet so that we have to wait to find out
DeleteI agree. That is strange. Picking out a name is a joy to me. One of the first things I do.
DeleteI had no name for my second son, either, back in 1985. Just didn't think a whole lot about just ONE particular name. He got named Isaac, and since I was on post-partum meds, I still can't tell you exactly how that happened. He's still a great guy, though.
DeleteTruett, Harrison, Emerson
ReplyDeleteHe is beautiful, and Jessa looks fabulous.
ReplyDeleteThey'd better decide on a name one of these days, so they can file a birth certificate.
ReplyDeleteCould they just name him Ben Jr.?
DeleteThen Ben the 3rd, Ben the 4th......
DeleteCongratulations on the new little no name. He is adorable. I understand it was a challenge to keep the gender secret. But why then even agree to learn yourselves ahead of time??? DeleteJill and Derrick have already announced that their second child is a boy.
DeleteGo Jill and Derrick! Your fans respect you for being open and honest. Thank you for not keeping us in suspense.😍😊
DeleteThey've got 4 weeks to come up with something to put on the birth certificate. Think they can do it?
ReplyDeleteThey could just do Ben Jr. and keep it simple.

DeleteSterling would be a great name. Congratulations on your perfect little man.
ReplyDeleteThat's my sons name, great name indeed! 😬
DeleteCongratulations Jessa & Ben.
ReplyDeleteMueller Graham Seewald!!! After George Mueller
ReplyDeleteI love it!!!!!
DeleteMueller???
DeleteMy goodness, they just need to pick a name
ReplyDeleteAwww so sweet! Congrats!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to the Seewald family. Live a godly life and you shall be bless. I came up with a unique name for your bundle of joy, Randolph Samuel Seewald.
ReplyDeleteHe's so cute and big! Thankful the Lord honored our prayers and Jessa and baby are okay.
ReplyDeleteNow y'all gotta add this bundle of joy to the header! Congratulations Jessa and Ben!
ReplyDeleteAt this rate, all the pictures in the header are going to be so small we'll need magnifying lenses to see them.
DeleteCongratulations on a save delivery and a healthy baby! Ben seems really awkard everytime Jessa looks at him...

DeleteSamuel would b a good name 4 the new boy
ReplyDeleteI was thinking that the other day Samuel suits him well he definitely looks it too.
DeleteI don't think after Spurgeon they are the types to name there baby something as common as Samuel.
DeleteThe first February birthday for the entire family! How awesome!

anyone agree?
How about Moody for a name, after D.L. Moody?
ReplyDeleteI hope they pick a name that does NOT start with S!! Break out of the Duggar box! Congrats to the Seewald's.
ReplyDeleteTobias Benjamin

ReplyDeletePeople name their pets faster than this family names their children. That's what's "silly."
DeleteI THINK YOU CALL THE BABY
ReplyDeleteharry MASON SEEWALD
dennis. samual seewald
ReplyDeletei think his name should be
