As we mentioned in our summary of the Dillards' February ministry update (click here to read the highlights), Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar recently traveled down to Central America for an impromptu visit with Jill, Derick, and Israel. Here are a few snapshots from their trip:

Thanks for the photos, now lets just hope folks can enjoy them without picking them apart for a change.Be kind to one another...blessings☺
ReplyDeleteI came back looking for more information about the Uncommenn App and I see that the entire post has been deleted from the blog. Was there something wrong with the App?
ReplyDeleteThe folks from Uncommen do not want to be associated with the Duggars since The Josh Scandal.
DeleteMaybe the Dillard's could assist with providing shoes or providing foot washing service to the "locals.". It's sad to see the wear and tear on their feet while Dillard's and Duggars have clean feet and sandals that aren't even dirty.
ReplyDeleteHow do you know that they didn't? The Duggar's usually bring supplies and gifts when they go down. Don't judge off of one picture. Pictures don't always tell the whole story.
DeleteOne more thing! Maybe you people who are so critical of what the Dillard's and Duggar's are doing to help others in this world should get off social media and follow in their foot steps! Shame on you people!
DeleteGreat idea!! We have a local shoe shop who will donate a pair for each pair you buy. I'm sure there are other vendors doing the same. Research is important to a good mission.
DeleteFoot washing service? These people have soap and water.
DeleteWhy don't you & I ask for a address that we can send socks & shoes to and maybe the Dillard's could hand them out to the locals, or had you rather write ugly remarks.
DeleteGreat point. Would love to see some of their donations go to shoes for these people.
DeleteThere a lot of people even in America that choose to go barefoot they consider shoes a burden that damages your feet. Try googling going barefoot!
DeleteHave you ever thought maybe it's their culture or that they prefer to not wear shoes?
Deleteseriously? they are living there to help, teach and train and thats what you see in this picture worth a thousand words? Im sure the living conditions for them might be slightly better then the local people there, but its still not the hilton, or even the comfort of their own home. find the positive first.
DeleteBelieve it or not, the Dillards probably can't do everything.
DeleteMaybe you should send some yourself it seems like that was the only thing you notice about the picture
DeleteA lot of cultures around the world prefer to be barefoot. Shoes cause all kinds of foot problems.
DeleteI agree that I really good idea
Deleteare you serious?! come on - what more do you want from this wonderful family? you are leaving a nasty comment because their feet are cleaner than the locals?!?! wow! read lots of hate comments on this Christian family but this is a new low!!
DeleteGoing barefoot may be something they prefer: if the weather is nice, bare feet are a joy! :)
DeleteWell now, Michelle sure is sporting some sturdy foot wear. Maybe the locals took a look and just said no!
DeleteThey cannot provide for everyone. Missionary work is about saving souls, not changing the lifestyle or customs of any country.
DeleteWhy is Izzy never wearing a hat? He is so fair and the sun is so strong.
DeleteDerick looks rough.
DeleteLook closer, there are people other than the Duggars wearing shoes. Most people who live there prefer to be barefooted.
DeleteI don't think that's a fair statement... As a returned peace corps volunteer who lived in a community even poorer than this one for two years, I can tell you that providing handouts of free shoes is not going to be helpful. First, most people in my community preferred walking around without shoes. Shoes that were given to them by the government were rarely used and quickly destroyed. I can't tell you how many toms shoes I saw covered in mud lying unused on the ground. Secondly, handouts are not the answer. They are not a sustainable solution and create a handout mentality, which actually only serves to force people further into poverty.
DeleteI'm thrilled to see Jill and Derrick doing work that is so near and dear to my heart. I know from experience that it is the hardest work you can do, but it is a work that is worth it.
I absolutely love that last picture.
ReplyDeleteWhoa Derrick! I hardly recognized you!
ReplyDeleteWow! Derick has some beard.
ReplyDeleteDon't like it at all. He looks "scary"
DeleteYou should change the name of this blog to All About Jill and Jessa since you never mention the other Duggar kids any more. I want to hear more about Joy and Jinger.
ReplyDeleteDid you ever stop to think that maybe that's how the Duggars want it? Jessa and Jill are married and moved out, but the other kids are still at home. Maybe they'd like to stay out of the spotlight for a bit.
DeleteI agree with this comment. I want to know more about the other kids. Could you please post some updates?
DeleteI also would like some more highlights from the other kids, but perhaps they're isn't much "excitement" surrounding the other kids at the moment. Just give them some time, and then maybe they'll have Lily and Ellie post something.
DeleteI second that suggestion. Let's hear more about the other Duggar kids. I'm in shock over Derick. Wonder why Jill doesn't want her man more groomed. He didn't look that way when he was over there for 2 years before he met and married Jill. I understand the surgery part, but just good hygiene like a haircut and shave would do wonders.
DeleteLooks like he's trying to be able to play the part in his Bible stories, without dressing up. I doubt Jill would say anything to her husband because that would not be joyful.
DeleteLily and Ellie said that with the situation with Josh the Duggars have not been keeping them up to date on the younger kids. I was upset about it too.
DeletePlease do not focus on their appearance. This world is all about looks, but the message of Jesus Christ is held in our hearts. We are not of this world.
DeleteMaybe the others have asked not to be mentioned as much for a while. So they can heal and focus on other things. If it was all about the others people would be crying for updates on Jill and Jessa. They can't please everybody they can only do they're best.
DeleteThat may be true, looks are not everything. But hey even the Bible took a moment to describe John the Baptist unusual appearance (clothes of camels hair, etc).
Deletewow Izzy does look a lot like Jim Bob. They said that when he was first born. I can really see it in the picture above... wow
ReplyDeleteAre Jill and Derrick expecting their next baby yet?
ReplyDeleteWow, some mighty cruel comments. If you don't like the Duggars and their ministries, why not just unsubscribe rather than be rude.
ReplyDeleteExactly!!people are so cruel!Its making me sick.Unbelivable!
DeleteAre the Dillard's in the US or there right now?
ReplyDeleteDerrick should shave or keep a short beard. He looks like wolf-man....don't like it at all. Wonder if Jill does??
ReplyDeleteIf she didn't,than he wouldn't have it. There is more important things to worry about than shaving & hair cuts.
DeleteDerek is a very nice looking man. This full beard and head of hair really do not do his looks a service.
DeleteWow, Derrick is starting to look like Grizzly Adams.
ReplyDeleteJudge not, for you too will be judged one day. Awesome photos and I'm sure the Dillard's are a blessing in more ways than one! God bless!!!
ReplyDeleteIsrael looks just like jim Bob his grandfather a whole lot good job Jill and derrick on your work god is with you all hope your show comes back on TV soon miss your show god bless pastor alice
ReplyDeleteI agree with the foot washing ! Maybe Jim n Michele could support a daily community meal for families in need .. They don't need bibles they need food / housing etc .. The diggers have lots of money to sustain such a program !!
ReplyDeleteGreat Pictures!! I miss hearing about the rest of the family.
ReplyDeleteWish they could bring their show back
ReplyDeleteY'all look fantastic!
ReplyDeleteJill looks pregnant. Sure hope not with Zika virus there. Any confirmation?
ReplyDeleteNope, no news of a pregnancy right now. :)
DeleteLily and Ellie
Maybe the parents went down there to see them and take them a bunch of OFF!
DeleteNot something to even joke about. An American Airlines flight recently stopped 2 medical workers who were trying to take a whole box of DEET repellent to Haiti in checked baggage. It violated airline rules. The spray was going to be distributed to pregnant mothers at a birthing center. The story made headlines.
DeleteAww baby looks a little like grandpa! He's adorable ❤️.
ReplyDeleteJill looks like she might be pregnant in the first photo.....
ReplyDeletePut them back on the air why should the whole family be punished over one family member
ReplyDeleteLack of a reality television show is not "punishment." No one is entitled to reality television fame and income.
DeleteThat poor baby isn't being worn properly.
ReplyDeleteHow do you wear a baby?
DeleteProperly! LOL. The way he's "being worn" can lead to hip dysplasia.
Deletehttp://www.theveryworstmissionary.com/2016/02/how-going-on-vacation-might-be-better.html
ReplyDeleteJust a url about mission trips :)
You all are AWESOME! God bless you today, tonight, and for always.
ReplyDeleteThat must of been quite a surprise for the Dillards getting to see Jill's parents again!
ReplyDeleteShoes needed!
ReplyDeleteYes! Parasites and bacteria. Yuck!!
DeleteSome folks always find reason to find fault ,that is really sad sad, maybe their life is unfulfilled, cant think of any other reason unless said posters are unhappy...what a shame.Knowone knows all of what this family does or doesn't do so to speculate is just ridiculous. Most naysayers are just hiding behind anonymity and not out there serving others like this family is doing.Sorry to be so irate, I'm just really getting sick of all this, can't some folks just live their own life and not needlessly target this family...serves no purpose and why are these haters/trolls on this fan site anyway...makes one wonder...hmmm.I apologize to all those fans, friends and families of the Duggars who have to read such crass and hate, I feel bad for you.Blessings
ReplyDeleteLooks like a good visit
ReplyDeleteIsrael looks sooo much like Grandpa Duggar!
ReplyDeleteThis entire family is so inspiring - from the middle boys going to a nursing home to chat and entertain, to jill and derrick do missionary work across the world, to jim bob and michelle continuing to praise God after such a rough year - just love the Duggars!!
ReplyDeleteJimBob and Michelle are such great parents!I bet it was so nice to visit Jill and Israel. We love and miss the Duggar family.need them back on tv ASAP!!!
ReplyDeleteTEAM DUGGAR!
ReplyDeleteAre you rooting for Josh being on that team, too?
DeleteGreat work! I have been on several Mission trips with our goal being helping to build churches in Mexico and Chile'. When we left we left our clothes and shoes for them. It is difficult to aid with everything, however, after we left a hurricane went thru Mexico and the people of the neighborhood found refuge in the Church we helped build and all survived! It was well worthwhile!
ReplyDeleteI am curious about the concept of mission trips. I notice these are often short-term (1-2 weeks) for teens or young adults. Considering the costs for travel and lodging, wouldn't it be more efficient to simply donate that money toward the project and hire local labor to perform the construction? It would probably make the goal of building of the churches much quicker and cost efficient with lots of funds left over for additional projects or aid.
DeleteDo you mean donating to missionaries, or who? Because there's often corruption with donated funds overseas. It's difficult to know where the money goes without good oversight and accountability in place. But also, the short $1000 (plus your own airfare) that the SOS trips cost for teens don't accomplish much, either. What does help is staying there long enough to help the locals turn their own economy around somehow, through jobs, education, infrastructure improvements, and development of sustainable local skills. There are volunteer organizations that focus on those things and much-needed medical help, too. But still, sometimes you're dealing with countries with massive government corruption on many levels, so it can be an uphill battle.
DeleteThat aside, the good part of non-profits in the U.S. is that they have to file financial statements, and the public can research how much of the donations are actually spent on the organization's purpose. Talking the talk is one thing. Showing the same on paper is sometimes another.
To tell you the truth, I got turned off the Duggars when Jill's wedding started. We were so saturated with her that I couldn't watch anymore.
ReplyDeleteI've gotten turned off not by the scandal, that's not uncommon stuff. What turns me off is the change in the girls, in particular. The selfies, shorter skirts, heavier makeup, etc. That is their choice but I think it confuses those who initially followed them from the beginning. It is very evident that their convictions appear to have changed. They are way more secular now than before. I guess fame and media coverage changes even the best of us. So sad. I'm leaning more towards the Bates now.
DeleteThat could be because the girls are young women now. And the Bates young women also wear makeup. Nothing wrong with that they are all still very modest they're just growing up and making their own decisions.
DeleteWow! Israel is looking more and more like Grandpa Duggar!
ReplyDeleteGreat to hear updates and wow Israel has grown so quickly.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate your efforts to inform the readers here. I also realize unless information is publicly available or privately provided details about other family members are not always accessible.
Thank you for your efforts.
just bring the Duggar family back on air miss them so much
ReplyDeleteThat would be a really good ministry for the Duggars and Dillards, to provide shoes/sandals for the locals there. At least people donating could see what their money is being used for. Or maybe the Duggars could start a shoe collection and could take them on their next trip to the locals when they visit Jill and Derrick.
ReplyDeleteCute pictures! I especially get a kick out of the picture of Israel with his grandpa. Adorable!
ReplyDeleteWhy don't you look them up thru google you worried bout Joy an Jinger.. Michelle an Jim Bob went to visit Jill an Derrick an there grandson that's what the photos are all about..
ReplyDeleteIts so sad to see so much negativity when a duggar is active in a ministry set when many of us here are not even doing a single thing, its precious and beautiful to see them as a young family taking a stand in a different country to preach Gods love and help those in need with what they can and is at their reach.
ReplyDeleteHow can you know that "many of us here are not even doing a single thing"? You might be surprised. Maybe the ones doing a lot are the ones who know the best when good works are or aren't actually being done.
DeleteA person does not have to be in the public eye to serve Him. Public service cannot make it without behind the scene prayer warriors.
DeleteI wonder if these locals have given their permission for their photos to be put up online?
ReplyDeleteI kind of doubt they mind very much.
DeleteI've wondered the exact same thing. They really should be protected from this kind of publicity.
DeleteThey posed for the photo so...
DeleteIs Jill expecting, she looks like maybe she is ?
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised they are in Central America with the Zika Virus.
ReplyDeleteDerick looks like Aaron from the prince of egypt :D
ReplyDeleteIs Michelle expecting?
ReplyDeleteI was wondering that, too!
DeleteProbably not sense Josie is going to be 7 and Michelle is 49.
DeleteI wondered that too
DeleteI was wondering the same thing.
DeleteMichelle is nearly 50. It's a middle-age figure. Your comments about her looking pregnant are rude and uncalled for.
Delete"Is Michelle pregnant" is a question that's been asked since they first went on TV. Nothing rude about it. Who knows how old she is without looking it up. It's supposed to be equally rude to give a woman's age.
DeleteHer 50th birthday is in September. Duggar fans whom I assume are most of the bloggers know this. Therefor they would know she is realistically beyond child-bearing years. So yes it's rude.
DeleteWe're not being rude. Although it isn't COMMON, it is POSSIBLE for a woman to still have a pregnancy at this age. My friend just delivered a healthy baby at age 50 three months ago! We know Michelle would welcome another, and are just asking...or maybe hoping...along with her.
DeleteIsreal appears to have bruising around his eyes in most pictures. Does he have allergies? I hope there is good medical care for him.
ReplyDeleteI just read people are criticizing them for going for a couple days to see Jill and Israel!!Everyone needs to STOP with the poor Jana thing. She loves being there and she has plenty of help from grandma Duggar Jinger Anna JoyAnna and the older boys!
ReplyDeleteSo nice to see JimBob and Michelle get a break to go visit their daughter and grandson! So happy you guys get a break from the negetivity you are recieving. You are the last people on earth that deserve it.You have done so much good for so many people.People should feel sorry for you for the Josh situation.it had to be hard and you did turn him over to the police. The girls love you and know you did all you could for them!Love and miss you Duggars!
ReplyDeleteThank you for speaking up for the Duggars! I hate what people say about them. They are a truly wonderful Christian family. The hard part about raising children is that they grow up and make their own choices. Jim Bob and Michelle have been great parents who have loved and nurtured their kids. Josh is an adult who has made decisions that do not reflect his upbringing. Jim Bob and Michelle made hard decisions to remove him from the family and get him help as a teenager and turn him in to the police. They did everything they could to help him. His choices are not their fault. God never gave us children to control them... Children are not robots. They have a free will, and some will choose the wrong path. I am thankful for the example set by the Duggars. They have taught me ways to handle my children better. They are always so calm and loving.
DeleteIt is no wonder the other kids don't share many details about their lives since everyone bashes the two that do. Jill is so sweet and kind. Israel obviously has allergies. My son has the same thing (dark circles under the eyes). You don't need medical care for that. It is just something they live with and deal with when the allergies flare up.
For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). Since none of us are perfect, we need to stop casting stones at others.
You are very welcome!I have followed this family for years and know how great they are and it makes me sick to my stomach to read the negetive comments.
DeleteTrust me Jana would have moved out and went to college if that's what she wanted. She loves her family and is happy being there and has plenty of help!People need to stop twisting and criticizing them for every single thing they do.The UNCOMMON bashing is insane too!JimBobs a great father and grandfather. Please STOP people you have no idea what you're talking about!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhy is everyone so hard on Jill and Derick?!Dont donate if you don't want. They do NOT deserve this just for asking if people would like to donate to their ministry!Have some compassion Jill went through the Josh stuff right after delivering Israel!Dericks mom just almost died and he had jaw surgery!Sorry he doesn't look great to you guys.Wow so shallow!!!!They do not deserve the bashing they are getting everytime a picture is up of them! This is sick! You should be ashamed of yourselfs!
ReplyDeleteI feel the exact same way...well said:)
DeleteAgree with this 100%. Seems like people just get on here to write nitpick comments about Derick's beard, Ben's hat, how Israel is being carried. . .it's really none of our business!
DeleteThank you!I get passionate because I feel horrible for them and I know how great they are!
DeleteTEAM DUGGAR TEAM DILLARD miss and love you!
ReplyDeleteIsrael is going to fall off of that chair. His booster seat is not strapped on, he's not strapped in, and that green seat is not even supposed to be used anywhere but the floor! And they just finished talking about how they were "baby-proofing" the house?! They're your friends - can't you contact them and warn them, before something happens?
ReplyDeleteSeriously, Michelle is RIGHT THERE. You just have to use common sense when you're taking care of a baby, and there's nothing dangerous about what's happening in that picture!
DeleteThat is a Bumbo seat, not a booster, correct. It belongs on the floor for babies who can NOT sit on their own yet. Israel is sitting, crawling and cruising. He should not be in that seat.
DeleteYes - they're using that Bumbo incorrectly as a loose booster seat. With that hard tile floor below, it's a horrendous accident waiting to happen. That picture is downright scary!
DeleteLots of things happen to children when adults are "right there". Common sense is following the guideliness and instructions. This is a fairly new item, I don't think it was around for Josie. People are being kind to the baby by pointing this stuff out. They don't want to see him hurt all to save an adult from embarrassment. These are pictures they decided to make public and could screen.
DeletePeople. Please stop helicopter parenting. Michelle has raised more kids and grand-kids than anyone here. We should probably assume that she knows what she's doing. Stop looking for the danger in every single situation. A baby doing almost anything in this world could be viewed as a possible danger if you want it to. Israel is in good hands. Well done, Michelle.
DeleteI wouldn't let anyone take care of my kids who wasn't "looking for danger in every single situation." That's a parent's primary job! Michelle wouldn't qualify to work in a daycare center if she tried using that same feeding set-up there. It's NOT safe!
DeleteI agree about the helicopter parenting. I think you need to be aware of dangerous situations but too many parents today see danger in absolutely everything and over-react. Jungle gyms at the local kids park could cause injuries but do you stop your kids from going near one? There was absolutely nothing wrong with what Michelle was doing. She couldn't have been closer to the baby. I think any daycare center would love to have Michelle work for them with her wealth of knowledge and expertise!
DeleteAmong other useful things, Jill got the "Safety First Fast Pack High Chair" that was on her Wal-Mart baby gift registry. "Easy to stow and take on the go" according to the product information. A high chair is the obvious place to feed a child that age, not a floor seat placed on an elevated surface, where it and the baby could tip over at any time. So what do you think happened to all the baby gifts they got?
DeleteMy friend is an ER nurse. She sees all the time what happens when parents don't "helicopter." It's heartbreaking when any child gets injured, especially the babies. Then there are the cases when they have no choice but to call authorities.
DeleteI don't believe there is such a thing as being too careful, especially when you're taking care of someone not even a year old. Today's parents have tons of safer baby products to help them do that, more than parents did before. Still, you have to use the products properly or you can make a situation even worse.
Jill got a high chair for a baby gift. Wonder why she isn't using it?
DeleteStop bashing them!!!They do not abuse Israel!!!its so rude to accuse such wonderful people of that!!!God knows the truth!TEAM DUGGAR,DILLARD and SEEWALD!Some people are so shallow it shocks me!Glad I'm not that way
ReplyDeleteI did not once accuse them of abuse. I asked if he had allergies which can cause puffy bruised looking eyes. I also hope they receive good medical care. Never mentioned abuse--just concern.
DeleteI'm proud to hear what amazing missionaries Jill and Derrick are to those people I hope and I'm praying lots of people in those countries get savied and accept Jesus Christ as their lord and Savior and I'm still praying for the return of the duggars family to come back on TV and it wouldn't bother me if Josh doesn't come back on TV but I hope he was sincere in his apology and asking Jesus to forgive him of his sins when they come back on TV I'll be happy knowing god has helped them come back to bless and enrich our lives once again
ReplyDeleteI wish Jill would be told how bad this carrier is for his hips! I used them for years untill I learned how bad it is for them, his knees should be above his hips, and face forward should only be done in a carrier that can support his leggs, like a Ergo Carrier 360. I have no idea how to get that message to Jill but I hope it will somehow reach her.
ReplyDeleteHip dysplasia comes to mind.
DeleteWhen Jill & Derrick asked for donations I wasn't in a position to do so. It's a shame because I felt it was a chance to sew seed into good ground. I did the very best thing I could do instead. I pray for them.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy to see that they're spreading God's word and His love. Their appearance has no bearing on their hearts or the work they do.
I remember Derrick first shaved for Jill and she seemed a little disappointed but was too sweet to make him feel bad. I like his new thick beard. I bet Jill does too. Always praying for their good health and protection. God bless them
Wow I just stopped by to say I miss y'all. Be encouraged. The people hated Jesus but he was still doing what the father asked him to do. I pray for all of you. And your children. May they be strong in the Lord. Love Leta Ratcliff
ReplyDeleteThe Duggers themselves don't wear decent shoes, they wear flip flops (which make your feet filthy) they also buy used shoes which are also filthy and conformed to others feet and the wear and tear of shoes goes without saying. If you can't keep a new pair of sneakers on 19 kids than that says it all. moderator I have said nothing wrong or vulgar on this comment so it should appear on the site.
ReplyDeleteThank you
Stephanie
Wow! Jill's son looks just like her dad.
ReplyDelete
